  1. So if you pay for a flight and its cancelled by the airline, do they just use the money already paid by us to pay for another flight? We havent got the funds to keep paying for new flights and waiting for previous refunds. Yes the cap is a big problem! But totally understand why it is in place.
  2. Qatar have got terrible reviews at the moment, will just have to wait a bit longer and see how the situation is mid August.
  3. Has anyone very recently had any luck with securing a definite flight to Australia from anywhere in the UK?
  4. Thank you, so I'm guessing as a first time buyer (not building) we would have to pay stamp duty too?
  5. Ive just been told cannot take any candles in jars in the container and all outdoor furniture etc will be thoroughly checked, apparently its the interlocking sections that carry dust etc so will contaminate, but hopefully a good clean with a jet hose, Jeyes etc will be fine
  6. I have washed the main part of the tent in the washing machine, didnt think it would fit! Now washing the 2 bedroom sections of the tent, so i know they will be clean now and not have to worry. Will give them a light spray of Jeyes fluid the day before packers come, next will be the poles for the tent to clean thoroughly. I just hope they dont want to destroy the tent or ask us if we want it cleaned, then have to pay charges! Alot of our other garden things, like cushions, plant pots (thoroughly cleaned but most are brand new anyway) are now wrapped in bags to keep them clean and dry. Rattan (more of the plastic type) table and chairs have been dismantled, cleaned with Jeyes and stored in our garage wrapped up in tarpaulin. Hope this will be good enough!!
  7. So today, after a couple of weeks sorting through our household belongings, i have start dismantling garden furniture and cleaning down, storing ready for packers. I cleaned our rattan furniture with diluted Jeyes fluid. Other stuff in the garden has been cleaned and covered. It's quite satisfying getting everything organised, i know that when our stuff is examined on arrival they will check particularly garden stuff, so hence the thorough clean. I do have a 4 man tent but it smells a bit musty where its been stored in it's carry bag, a bit too big to put in washing machine, do you recommend i wash it all down in the garden? I dont want it to be destroyed on examination. Can candles in jars go in a shipping container? I also have candle wax melts, just wondered if they would all melt into one through the heat in the container? I would love to take them but not an absolute necessity. How did you organise all your belongings in the lead up to the packers coming? Be great to hear stories, good or bad!! Xx
  8. Thanks for the recommendation. I have been looking on Facebook with the Qatar comments from people within the last 5 weeks and the booking reviews/experiences are not good, alot of people saying they are taking your money after booking a flight and people are not getting refunds etc....connecting flights cancelled but your not told until you get to Doha airport, leaving people stranded etc.....doesnt give me any confidence to book with them at all. Most other airlines flying to Perth; Qantas, Singapore, Emirates have no flights now till Oct/Nov time. Singapore are charging £1300 pp for a one way flight in October!! It's like getting stung over and over again, which ever way you turn
  9. Is anyone finding that when you are checking for flights to Australia, it appears you can go ahead and book a flight online. However, I was checking flights London to Perth with Singapore airlines which showed availability from 1st October, but when i called the airline, they said flights were only from london to Singapore, not onward to Perth, so could not transit through Singapore!! I am really trying to find a bloody, simple flight to Perth from London, but there must be flights that pass through other countries on the way?? Who has successfully booked a flight online to Perth please? It seems Qantas and Qater are flying but does that include transiting too?. Getting desperate now!!
  10. Would you please let everyone on here know when you have found the place to have the test done, just in case others are looking at Qantas flights, like you say, it should be on there website!! I have been checking Singapore airlines flights again, it looks like there are no flights in September, now starting in October, does anyone know when the international arrivals cap in WA ends? I know it was initially 4 weeks.
  11. We are going for it, it's now or never, we've come this far to give up now.
  12. Its a pass to get into WA, someting the WA police have set up, we need to apply.
  13. Yes it is. Hopefully as the flights are through Qantas, you may not have to do the tests pre flight. Great you haven't got to apply for the g2g pass too!
  14. It has to be done so many days before the flight, must obviously be a negative result, a certificate must be obtained. Only a selection of places it can be done in UK, they are private clinics, i think the cost is £150 per test.
  15. That's not a bad price at all. I noticed just now looking on the Qantas website flight schedules are operated by Emirates, not sure if you are aware of the covid test you have to do when flying with Emirates? My husband has got a Partner Visa 309/100.
  16. Ah ok, i didnt realise they were flying from UK. We need to book 3, one way flights to Perth, will check if they fly there. Did you get good prices? What day are they flying?
  17. Hi, Can i ask please who you booked your flights with, which airport from and arrival to? Thank you xx
  18. I checked for flights with them online, your right, nothing to Perth.
  19. If your flights were cancelled for you to validate, was there a problem with your visa? I was under the impression if not activated you lost the visa or the travel part of it and had to see if it could be applealed? I think this is a worry for many of us who haven't activated yet.
  20. I think there are many people in our situation! Have you booked flights yet ir been looking? We might book with Singapore airlines.
  21. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows if Singapore airlines is flying from London to Perth at all? Also, is Etihad asking for passengers to provide a negative result for covid test like Emirates are? What sort of prices are people seeing recently for one way flights to Perth? Not sure if we should book now and see what happens?
  22. Trust me I have thought about that, but who knows what next year could be like, could be worse if the virus is still around, house prices could crash etc etc......we have sold our house so if we waited, we would have to live with inlaws and our belongings would go into storage which we will have to pay for, for god knows how long until we eventually get there, but with no idea, its quite a gamble and a costly one etc.... We have thought about so many scenarios!
  23. So many different comments, now Emirates are wanting covid test done before flying, as if it's not hard to get to WA as things are, they make it even more difficult!! Give us all a break and give us some good news, this move is costing more and more by the month, on top of the cost of the Partner Visa!! Jon the Hat, when do you intend to make the move, are you flying to WA this year?
  24. It's everyone over the age of 18 travelling to WA. Ours were rejected straight away, so will have to try again, can't believe all the grief of getting the visa now have to have this pass too, but its no guarantee to let you into WA!!.
