  1. Still waiting for the quote, we wasnt told there was a delay due to the CoronaVirus and would assume administration staff would be able to work from home? Not impressed so far.
  2. It's definitely an option but we want to avoid paying for storage in Oz once the container arrives and sharing one will give us more time to buy a home and find work. We are staying with family which is very helpful but delaying the arrival of our goods might be better for us. Should get the quote today. So if we go sole use for 20ft and it arrives before we have found a house and jobs then we would be paying storage fees and we wouldn't know how long for.
  3. Thanks Ali, My concern would be that we would be charged a delay fee if the container was not filled by someone else, the company cant possibly know how long we would have to wait!
  4. Hi everyone, We had a consultant round today to quote for our belongings and suggested a shared container. We have 1100 cubic feet so would need to share a 40ft container. Has anyone gone through the process of sharing a container and hkw did you find the process overall? Would you recommend? Thanks in advance. Xx
  5. We have got John Mason's coming round on Thursday, will post details of the price etc if anyone is thinking of using them in the very near future.
  6. May i ask what your quote was please? John mason i think include 1 month free storage.
  7. Having just read reviews on John Masons and PSS, both have had some terrible, recent reviews, now I don't know who to get a quote from with any company. Our entire life is packed into a container and the thought of our belongings getting damaged, lost etc fills me with dread!! Yet the 2 companies mentioned also have some excellent reviews! Havent even enquired about insurance-does anyone have any recommendations please?? Many thanks for any replies. Xx
  8. We used John Masons before who were excellent (2011). My brother also used them. However, having read some reviews within the last year, there are many negative reviews so I think I will shop around. PSS will be one of them, so anyone that has used them could you please state your review please? Any other recommendations please? We will be UK (East Sussex) to Perth. TIA XX
  9. These are the items of garden furniture we want to take, i hope they are acceptable.
  10. Awe thank you so much, it sure is!!! Xx
  11. Thank you so much!!! We are heading to south of Perth.
  12. So, visa has been granted and now the planning has started!! Have made lists for each room listing what is being packed etc.....including garden furniture. Whilst going through tools etc in the garage, the feeling of what is to come is overwhelming, terrifying but exciting. Obviously the thought of saying goodbye to family is never far from our minds, but the excitement of the move gets stronger every day. So much to gradually sort out but so exciting!!
  13. Thank you everyone for your replies. I do have a solid oak dining table, rattan corner sofa set and rattan table and chairs that we want to take, its like a plastic rattan though. The oak table is from Next. We purchased all of this in the UK. We do have a bedroom set that we purchased in Australia several years ago, but its not raw wood, its varnished and i think maybe lacquered in a dark colour, we bought it back to UK and my husband wants to keep it, but can we take it as its wood? Would the packers know what type of wood furniture cannot be taken? Our lounge furniture is oak veneer but a set of 3 coffee tables is solid oak. Thanks again! Xx
  14. Hi, May i please ask how much the fee was to store and how long did they give you? Thank you.
  15. Thank you Ali for replying. He will be 17 in June 2021. He doesn't want a uni pathway, just wants to leave school and find a job. Does he have to have any certificates to say he has left school/gained qualifications at school in order for him to get a job if he doesn't go to Tafe? Tia x
  16. Confused and need anyone to explain a bit about the schooling system please!! Is school leaving age 16 or 18? Which ever above age, what happens after that? Not all students want to go on to Uni but is College compulsory? Can you leave school to look for work? Will be moving to South Perth area in WA. TIA. X
  17. Thank you so much, perfectly explained. X
  18. Thank you so much, relieved is not the word!! 8 months of waiting but totally worth it! X
  19. Hi everyone, We are planning our move back to Australia as my husband has been granted his Partner visa 309/100. We will be selling our only UK home before we go. My question is: When we have sold our property, the money from the sale will stay in our UK bank account. Once we have arrived in Australia, we will be looking to buy our first home together as soon as we can. We will be staying with my brother to start with. Will we have to pay any sort of tax because we will have a lump sum in our bank account in the UK which we will transfer to our Australian bank account when the exchange rate is good. I've heard of Capital Gains Tax but don't understand how it works. I did think though, after reading some info, that CGT only applies in certain circumstances?? Any info would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
  20. Hi, I have noticed that house prices to buy are going up in south west WA, particularly between Secret Harbour to Halls Head. Has anyone else noticed or are we just missing out on the cheaper ones?
  21. It's mega expensive!! I think its a necessity though.
  22. Thank you Amber Snowball for your reply. You are correct, it's related to having thjs certificate when working in a blood collection centre. I used to work for Clinipath when I last lived in Australia and the testing for drug urine was part of our responsibilities, but upon my last visit in September, I was told that a certificate was now required, so it's all changed! I emailed a company that I found on the internet and they replied it was $650 for this certificate, but seems as though Employers do not fund this, unless stated in a job description, as you say. I might just email a variety of Pathology companies and see what they say. I'm still performing blood collecting now and have been for 5 and half years but I am not a nurse as such, I work in a Doctors surgery after leaving working in a hospital doing thr same, so I hope to god that being a qualified nurse is now what you have to be in this job role!!! I do have admin and clerical skills to but I love what I do and don't want to change, unless absolutely necessary.
  23. Hi all, Does anyone know if Employers usually fund this certificate that is needed to carry out drug and alcohol testing? Many thanks. X
