I don’t think they tell you where to live as long as you are in NSW. I think there is another visa class for regional. There are are some migration agents on the forum. Might be worth reaching out.

if NSW are sponsoring for occupation and you wanna live there then it makes sense to take the points because you will be waiting a while with only 65. I think 65 is minimum now. i have heard of people getting invited quicker but overall I’m not sure if it’s that much difference.

190 - you agree to live and work in that state for I think at least 2 years. Good route to take if you don’t have enough points for 189 and you know you want to live in that state. Sometimes it can be quicker for an invite. aITSL require 4 years of uni I.e 3yr bachelor and 1 year PGCE. If your transcripts does not specify how much supervised teaching practice is part of your course then a letter from the university will do.

Can anyone tell me a way around the AQIS veterinary attendance declaration. It asks for an Australian telephone number but we don’t have one yet. Can I use a uk mobile number and keep it active until the dog arrives?

You. An take your family on your 189 or 190 visa. Find an online points calculator. There’s loads out there to choose from. Over 65 points gives you every chance. Then speak to a migration agent or the down under centre who do carpenter assessments. Make sure you understand the true cost of the process as it’s expensive and the timescales as it takes a long time. Ours took 18 months to be granted if you include time doing skills assessment before applying.

I think we did EOI in December 2017 and had grant in December 2018. Iscah are quite good for getting an idea on invites. http://www.iscah.com/eoi-invitation-estimates/

I don't like being the negative voice here but I thought the result letter was only valid for 24 months. I hope I'm wrong btw. If I recall correctly, the EOI website asks for your skills assessment number and date of completion so you can't start without the documents.

Sorry, should have said earlier. Going through the process as an early years teacher we waited approx 4 months for invite and 8 months for the visa. However we did have case officer contact at the 4 month mark so it could of been granted then but the system dumped some document uploads which had to be resupplied. That was with 70 points. Just to give you an idea.

Agree with @benj1980. Most people take more than one go at the test as it is trickier than you many think for native speakers

From my research so far there isn’t really a quick path for licensed trades over there. I am not a gas engineer and not going to Perth so it’s not 100%. you would need to have your UK certs assessed most likely. If you can meet criteria for a trade on the list, why not start the assessment in the uk to give you a better chance on arrival. You could even get an extra 5 points for the visa if you need them. On a plus minimum wage is better in Aus so trade assistant/ labourer may be an ok starting point whilst doing a training course.

I’ve had PSS give me a reasonable quote to ship household belongings which include treadmill, 3 tier rack of dumbells, power rack, bench and weights. They weren’t fussed as long as I dismantled it. They believe they can get in a shared container including sofa, two beds, 2 bikes and other household items. Contact them. They are quite well reviewed on the forum and someone will xome out and give you a free quote. At the end of the day , all of the companies will be using the same ship.

Hi Scott, ive just replied to your other post. 5 weeks is plenty of time, just research what to expect. A lot of native speakers end up taking more than one test becaiuse they use slang etc or jump to conclusions on reading section. Plenary of videos covering each section on YouTube. If it is just for the visa points then you can do general. If AITSL are asking for it then it’s academic but you should be able to use your UK qualifications. General is slightly easier I believe.

You would be better asking a registered agent. @Raul Senise IMO it seems a little extreme unless you are already in Oz on another visa. Applying for say a student visa, waiting two years and then software developer could be off the list. Who knows. Another year of uk experience and there is potentially 5 points. Taking you to 70.

We like the look of properties around Hallett Cove although are fairly open minded. Perhaps 12 months on when we look to buy we will be a lot more fussy about it but hopefully with a lot more insight. We don’t specifically need to commute to the city for work (electrician & early years teacher) but we are considering just getting one new car initially rather than two used ones. The wife has this idea about cycling to work in the sun if possible. The air bnb we have seen is in O’Sullivan beach area so hopefully a good place to start. As long as it’s a reasonably safe suburb. Which it does appear to be on homely.com.au We were thinking a month air bnb but would 6 weeks be a safer chioice. The wife wouldn’t be happy being homeless so soon.

Hi, can any members based in Adelaide give us a rough idea of how long it takes to find a rental property. We are planning the move for June having got the visas in December and was wondering how long to book an air bnb for.

Happened to me. Asked for something i had already uploaded. It should tell you in the letter what they are looking for. In my case it was a passport copy so I just reuploaded and then clicked supplied. Three months later i got a grant. Don’t worry too much in this situation. I was told by migration agent that the system is bit hit and miss and sometimes doesn’t save all documents.

Sounds like an error to me mate. Remember they still human and it must be boring checking the same things every day so they may go into autopilot. I will say SA are pretty efficient at getting back to people (i contacted them over a slightly different issue) I have also had this exact problem with the visa application. Went 189 route but the case officer came looking for proof of partner english ability despite a copy of the passport being uploaded. The letter they sent through immi account even stated a UK passport was sufficient. Apparently the system can lose some documents. I just re-uploaded it and now i'm waiting.
