If your partner is a nurse, then they'll need ANMAC for their skills assessment. Once ANMAC issues their Letter of Determination, the latter is valid for a period of 2 years from then: ANMAC FAQs If they choose IELTS as their preferred language testing method, the results are valid for 3 years: English language requirements My personal opinion would be that I would rather have everything ready to submit for when the time comes.

I think they're still digesting the news tbh. They had both 80 and 1221, as well as medicals and pcc front-loaded. They found it unnerving that the status didn't change from 'received' since submission date. Makes people wonder whether their application has actually been received.

Hi guys, Just to let you know that my friend had their 190 Qld visa granted after 13 months. Location: Offshore (UK) Skills: Nurse It went straight from 'received' to 'finalised'. I've got a question about the travel exemption: do they need to book flights first, or apply for the travel exemption first? Thanks.

For a skilled visa (189/190), one needs to have had a skills assessment by the relevant professional authority, as a requirement. This can often take weeks, and more often than not, months. This does not include all the preparatory work that the application needs to do in order to gather the evidence required. This can also take weeks/months. However, this is under your control, so the earlier you start, the better for you.

You head into a major DoT office, pay the fee and get your Qld licence for that duration. You keep your UK licence.

I second this. Bargains can still be found in the bayside. Bear in mind most blocks will be in the 400-500sqm at that price range. And you may have to pick up a fixer upper. If you're interested in, shoot me a line. I lived in Wynnum for 2.5 years, and we've just bought in Lota (outside the flood zone obviously).

It depends if you get a sympathetic soul on the other end, who's willing to actually open up your file to look through, rather than blurt out their scripted spiel.

The waiting times have now dropped to "10-12 months". Since you're now outside of this 90% processing time, maybe give them a call?

Yes, the tax implications can be confusing and you may end up being out of pocket. There are also capital gains implications for both tax jurisdictions when and if you decide to sell. Not to mention the nigh impossibility of finding a lender that will remortgage if you're trying to do it whilst is Oz Plus the nightmare of trying to manage a rental from halfway around the world. -

Cos they're "not traditional construction type".

No. Not sure if you're aware (feel free to correct me if not), but ANMAC and AHPRA are two completely separate entities. Not all the time, extensions can be granted. Depends on how much one values the Aussie dream. I did it. Spent about £3k by nipping over. The cost was high, but the value was priceless. The Qld 190 programme can be open and closed in less than 24hrs, due to high demand, so you need to be on the ball for when they open. Not really: you can present at your employer, who will then take over this.

My ex landlord who's also a REA has said there has been a number of sight unseen purchases, mainly from interstate.

We just bought, and had to pay the full stamp duty rate as we previously owned property in the UK.

We looked at them. The issue we found that some banks won’t lend for certain modular types. We went to see the showroom for Hoek homes. They looked ok, but the flimsiness put us off. If we had to build in the future, we would look at container type builds: https://www.containerbuildgroup.com.au/ However they would make sense on a sloping plot at you may not need the usual level of excavation and could use steel stumps. Let us know how you get on.

I second this. We live in bayside too, and the villagey atmosphere is homely.

Thanks for the reply mate. We're in bayside Brisbane. We've decided to got for a Bosch Freestanding induction oven and a Sanden heat pump hot water system.
