Hi all, I'm after some input please. Does anyone from here live in Bundy? If so, what do you enjoy the most and the least about living here? We are a family of 4, and are thinking of moving from Brisbane to be mortgage free. Thanks, DN
  3. What is your profession? AHPRA is not a skills assessing body. They are only your professional registration body. You must have submitted your skills assessment outcome to AHPRA in order to gain registration? That's what's needed to meet the points test from DIBP.
  4. There are bikes specifically built for this restricted market, and some decent ones to boot. IIRC, the Triumph Trident is one of them. But you can also get restricted licence Street Triples. Can you not do a compressed full licence course in the UK? Back in 2003 I did my full licence over a couple of weeks for about £800. Give us a shout when you're in Brissy if you're up for a ride once you're sorted.
  5. My spouse and I did ours this morning. She got her approval within 30 mins of her test... I believe it depends very much on who interviews you as it's up to them to submit the checks at their leisure.
  6. Hello, Does anyone have any suggestions for mock tests that are current? If I understand correctly, the test was changed back in 2020, and there are a lot of resources that still reference the old questions/format. Thanks, DN

    Indecision

Be aware that should you move here on a visa that makes your tax residency country as Australia, you may have to pay CGT on the sale of your property, as well as having to engage in tax planning regarding rental income. Property prices here are detached from reality. E.g., in Brisbane, prices in certain areas have increased by over 50% in the past 2 years. Thus, if you think that you will give Oz a good crack, it may be worth selling and bringing over a healthy deposit to be competitive if you intend to purchase here. Also, there is an imminent interest rate rise pending.
  8. Hi all, Does anyone know what tier stamp duty I fall under if I buy a property for my parents to stay in? We've already got our residence. They're both in Queensland. Thanks
  9. Just checking this is not a typo? You really applied in November last year and got the invitation in February this year?
  10. Ok, this is an unusual question. Can you bring over house plants when you migrate to Oz? We have a 15 year old Crassula Ovata (Jade plant) that we don't want to leave behind. Can this be done? If so, what is the process? Thanks.

    Costs

You need to state exactly what information you're after. A good estate agent is worth having - sorting out problems whilst you're halfway round the world and with an almost opposite day/night schedule is tricky at the best of times.
  12. Not quite. A significant number of financial institutions will not consider you due to tax residency status.
  13. Woohoo! Welcome mate. Not a bad time of year to touch down (at least in Qld).
  14. I was waiting for a crash all the way until 2020, but the market kept going up, albeit slowly. I missed out on that house for 450k as I thought I could get it cheaper. But then COVID struck, and we all know what happened. Evidently there *may* be a 10% retracement next year, but who knows. Its a decision you're gonna have to make. We've got 2 little ones, and absolutely miss having family around to help out. It can be hard with just one income. But we chose that life, and we are enjoying being here. Wouldn't think of going back anytime soon. As long as you're coming over with your eyes open.
  15. Rental and purchase markets have gone bonkers, certainly in Brisbane. We looked at a house 3 years ago, which was sold for 450k. It's back on the market, and they're asking for 900k. I helped find my friend a rental last year in May. We secured a sizeable 3 bed apartment with sea views and a roof terrace for $550 per week. Now townhouses with no views are going for $590pw. As long as you're prepared for a tough market, it'll be less of a shock.
  16. Marissa did offer potential solutions to your problem. I highly doubt someone "insensitive and cruel" would do that.
  17. If you haven't, change it to a payg sim only. We've had ours close to 5 years now. Apple do the educational discount for anyone with a edu.au email address.
  18. You're looking at closer to 2 years, Council dependent.
  19. Congrats! Let the excitement begin. If you have property in the UK, selling rather than renting it out might be a better idea, but dyor.
  20. Sounds like you've been through an awful lot mate. Police checks will be done as part of the citizenship application, and one would think that the Interpol saga will rear its head up. Good luck, hope you find some resolution.
  21. I'm sorry to hear about what you've been through. Taking an objective view of your post, I'm assuming they already have PR, so citizenship should not really bring anything significant to their life (from what I believe). How would the change in their immigration status from PR to citizen impact you and your offspring?
  22. Have you tried looking at getting some tutorial? The IELTS scoring criteria for the written section is very specific, and some coaching may be of use to you. Here's a link that could be useful: https://ieltsliz.com/
  23. Townhouses will attract Body Corporate fees, and you may not be able to make the changes that you wish to, without approval from the body Corp, if they allow it.
