  1. 3.5 months, we're in Oz too. We've still got a long wait for my husband to be able to work.
  2. Hey pointyhats - I see you have/had LG - I am gathering from your signature you got an approval in July?
  3. Snifter - congrats. I can't see you on the Visa S/Sheet - Who was your CO? Has anybody had any approvals from LG lately?
  4. Hi Bigboy, There is no financial requirement for the partner visa. All they ask for is 2 years of earnings (I provided a letter from the HMRC as I did alot of temping, my husband provided 2 years of self emplyed tax returns). Even people on benefits or students have been successful - not quite sure of the purpose of providing this but I wouldn't be too concerned. The point is you don't need to have x amount of money in the bank. You will if you were to try and enter on a tourist visa however, roughly £1000 per month (give or take...its a very rough guide). Also, when you apply, include 3 years proof of living together and in a cover letter ask to be considered for the subclass 100 as you are actually eligible to skip the 2yr 309. Hope that helps.
  5. As did our CO but who knows what procedures need to take place once the CO has recieved them.
  6. We used PSS Removals, they were fantastic.
  7. Hi Tostar, I think Form 1022 is the correct form for informing relationship breakdowns between sponsors and applicants, but a quick phone call to immigration will confirm. Your Sponsor is required to do this ASAP.
  8. When you call the AHC in London, you actually get transferred to the EPC (European Processing Centre) so you are not technically talking to CO's at Australia House. They are essentially just call centre staff who filter out the important from the unimportant.
  9. Don't expect it to take less than 8 months, its rarely seen. I have read that medicals are being taken 4 months to process as they are all now sent to the Sydney office (or something to that effect). So even though your medicals passed they still need to be "processed" as I understand it!
  10. Register your relationship (if you can) and start gathering all your communication now. Skype, viber, whatsapp, facebook ect logs/screenshots. Add each other as beneficiaries to insurance and superannuation policies. Basically anything that shows you are commited to each other. Generally you need to be living together for 12 months in order to be eligible but if you start gathering evidence now over the next few months and spend some time with her in Oz AND your successful at registering your relationship you may be in with a chance. Registering your relationship waives the 12 month living together requirement - generally though they still like to see adequate time spent together so that combined with your previous relationship and current communications MAY do it...What state does she live? NSW has the most liberal policies on relationship registeration so if she lives there, you may be in luck. I'd organise a couple of visits over the next few months too, get a ETA and go over to spend some time with her to collect more evidence. It will take you a few months to be application ready, but I think you might be able to wrangle not living together for 12 months if you can register the relationship. And you may also be able to apply onshore and get the bridging visa at some point. Alternativly, have you thought about a PMV? If you've been through a break up and have seen the light, surely marriage is on the cards anyway?? The only thing is it is an offshore only visa and you would need to wait it out offshore or come to Oz on TV.
  11. I say go for it without an agent...its not worth the money just for a TV. I have an agent for our partner visa, but did the tourist visa on our own. My husband has over 20 convictions, 2 which come with jailtime from being young a foolish and we submitted all the statements and character references we did with the 309. He is currently doing the washing up in my parents house in sunny QLD :-) All you need to do it without an agent is a good understanding of the process and plenty of research. Unfortunalty not many people with criminal records are succesful with TV's so there are few posts/threads on here and other forums sharing their experiences.
  12. DIAC don't like people entering Australia and applying from onshore, as the onshore visa's are typically for people already living in Australia on a student/long term work visa - HOWEVER many people go down the onshore route via a short term temp visa. Some think its best to keep your onshore application plans to yourself when arriving in Oz, some think its best to be honest...
  13. Depending what state you are in you can also register your relationship which can waive the 12 month living together requirement, but straight PR is out of the question in your case.
  14. One about 3/4 of the size of that is currently rotting on the side of the Rockhampton-Yeppoon road. My English husband arrived the day it was killed. He made me pull over so he could take photos.
  15. Maybe it's just me that feels hostile then  Immigration matters tend to bring out alot of emotions in me haha
  16. How did you go Lewis? Did you end up applying? I got my husband over on a tourist visa while we wait for our partner visa to come through and he has a substantial record - much worse than your fathers mind you!
  17. Warmbeer - if you're wondering why you're getting some hostile responses, its because majority of people are in genuine long term relationships and have to jump through all the immigration hoops and wait out the waiting time - sometimes apart from their partners for months on end. It's a little offensive to have somebody come on and seek advice on how to go through the process dishonestly when we have all done it properly and still have to wait for 9 months min. And to think all the policies that make it take so long are becuase of people frauding the system...
  18. You're misinterpreting the "being in relationship for 3 years"...DIAC are only looking at people who can prove they have been in a serious commited relationship and you would need to have lived together for the three years, not just dating. So in other words you can't just pretend you dated somebody for a few years, you would need to be able to provide documentation showing how you financially, physically and emotionally supported each other over the three years including joint accounts/finances, proof of living together ect.
  19. Hello there! Love the spreadsheet idea but it seems to be out of whack. Can you have a look specifically at the column titles and fix them?
  20. Thanks so much for your responses. I think becuase we only have one plant to ship, there isn't really an agency that can help us now from my research. I will look into doing it ourselves but its not looking too good for my husbands poor plant!
  21. Seems there is a WHOLE other forum dedicated to Brits in Perth: http://www.perthpoms.com/
  22. Look, i'm of the attitude there is work everywhere for anybody that wants it. Brits tend to moan about Perth being jobless and expensive so I would check out some of the other sections of this forum, i'm sure there is a job section. Perth is notoriously expensive so your $2200 will not go far, but since you have family to look after you I am confident you'll pick up something. The thing is people go there with $$ in their eyes because people went and made big bucks in the mining boom. The mining boom caused rents and living costs to increase around Perth and now the mining boom is on the decline so its not as sustainable as it once was. Check out http://www.seek.com.au/ or http://mycareer.com.au/?S_cid=G:SEM:BRAND::mycareer:14605894698&gclid=CI6j54jNhbgCFQYcpQodHBIA5Q or http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-perth/l3008303 I'm sure if you're willing to sweep floors, wash dishes and do the dirty jobs other people don't want to do at the very least you will find something quickly!
