    Regrets?

I don't have an answer to your question, but just wanted to comment that I think your baby is soooo adorable!
  2. Well, "hoon driving" entails more than just speeding - otherwise everyone would be a hoon. It's about making tire marks while spinning around, and who knows what other stunts.
  3. I am making that colossal trip in about two weeks when I fly Virgin from New York, to Los Angeles then to Sydney. I think Virgin is decent - I picked it over Quantas because Quantas has too many in between delays. I don't see why anyone should have to wait over 5 hours to make a connecting flight, that's ridiculous.
  4. 82yo woman charged with hoon driving An elderly woman facing a hoon driving charge has appeared in the Albany Magistrates Court, in south-west Western Australia. Katarina Sunjevaric, 82, was allegedly caught speeding more than 45 kilometres per hour over the limit in Albany in May. Ms Sunjevaric has pleaded not guilty. Her trial has been set down for October. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-08-02/82yo-woman-charged-with-hoon-driving/4172592 What is this world coming to!
  5. Is Melbourne really huge? Someone described it to me as, "from here to there, from there to here".
  6. My thoughts exactly! I keep coming back for Bloomberg!
  7. Hey, when you say, "Sunshine" - are you referring to the Sunshine Coast?? I kind of find that hard to believe If you don't mind elaborating? What's so bad about it? Also, if you can elaborate on the other suburbs/towns - what makes them so bad/good? Thanks a lot!
  8. oh another one of those articles... who are they trying to scare??
  9. I'm surprised they're removing occupations so soon - the new system hasn't even been up for a month! I guess the ceiling cap has been reached. It's really amazing.
  10. yes, the urine test is the drug test.
  11. I'm wondering if the Gold Coast is dangerous at around 4:00am. The reason why I ask is because airlines either fly out of Gold coast airport at around 6am or around 8pm. If I took the 8pm flight, I would have to stay overnight at another major city like Melbourne or Sydney, where the airline makes a connection before it takes off early in the morning. (I am still trying to get over the culture shock where Oz's major international airports actually close at night lol - I have never seen or heard of that before). Anyway, this means that I would have to book a hotel in Melbourne or Sydney, which is another expense. Alternatively, if I were to leave the gold coast at 6am, then that would entail me catching public transportation at around 4am to catch that flight, which is kind of a scary thing to do. What do you think?
  12. dinkydoo, I am *so* happy for you!! I've been keeping up with your situation, and I really do think you so deserve it! :wubclub:
  13. You can't underestimate those careers. Think about all the tips they'll be getting.
  14. This is actually a very interesting point. Personally, I chose my field not necessarily on interest but on the ability it has to make me feed myself. Sometimes one has to be realistic. I really don't mean any offense to anyone, but I am skeptical about some degrees. I consider them a big ripoff. Now if Jack wanted to migrate to Las Vegas, New York or Hollywood, then maybe I can understand why he'd pursue the degree he did. But even still, you don't need a "drama" degree to act, and the competition in this field is extremely competitive. Truth is that the bad times we're living in call more for trades, science and engineering. Maybe that's how Stevie meant it with his comment.
  15. I thought Perth itself was considered regional: http://www.isa.com.au/perth-be-considered-regional-area
  16. Not for anything, but if you cannot find a qualification that you can apply for on the SOL, then that means that you yourself are unqualified. You may be qualified tomorrow, but not today, as far as the DIAC is concerned. So to say that "unqualified" people are being allowed in is actually not true. It's actually the opposite - you're the unqualified one if you cannot find an acceptable and honest way to be allowed in. I know it sounds harsh, but it's the truth. The family members of those who are qualified are themselves qualified in the sense that people in general cannot function without the love of those who support them - so yes, they serve a purpose however implicit.
  17. Did you guys see how the military careers have ceiling cap "unlimited" ? What are we planning, world war III or something?
  18. Wow, that's awesome! Did you look for work before leaving? Also, did you do your interview overseas, or did they contact you once you were in Melbourne?
  19. Well, in my honest opinion, it is very fair. What are the parents supposed to do? Leave their children behind? For the record, I'm not going sponsored by any means - in fact, I hardly know anyone in Oz.
  20. To validate your visa: Would you go somewhere really nice like Tasmania or the Gold Coast or would you Just go to Melbourne or Sydney to start the job process and hurry up and move My dilemma is that I would love to go to the Gold Coast, but from the little that I can tell, there are no jobs. At the same time, I don't want to waste time by coming back next year / and or looking for work from overseas which everyone here knows is next to impossible. And by the way, this is not to knock Melbourne or Sydney, just that I'm already a "big city" girl, so site seeing cities don't interest me much.
  21. Well, he did say he was a "Drama Teacher" and that's what he's migrating as :biglaugh:
  22. I wonder if they'll announce when a certain occupation is capped.
