  1. Hi, I am currently living in Kirribilli NSW and wondered is there anyone from the same council who could share experience for waiting time of ceremony ? thanks. Fiona

I got this response which I thought I would share: Hi Fiona It can start in April provided in the 4 years from April you do not spend more than 12 months out of Australia – so you would have already used up 5 months now. Australian Citizenship Act 2007 Residence Requirements To satisfy the residence requirements you must have: 4 years lawful residence in Australia. This period must include 12 months as a permanent resident immediately before making an application for Australian citizenship and absences from Australia of no more than 12 months in total in the 4 years prior to application, including not more than 90 days in the 12 months immediately prior to application. Lawful residence means residence in Australia on a temporary or permanent visa. This is also confusing! Appears it's not straight forward at all!

I think the issue is around being out of the country for more than 12 months. I have email AMVL so I will let you know.

Ah ok, it seems that some other posts (I put mine up before looking) say it does http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/186376-residency-requirement-citizenship.html#post1936222790 also quotes this website- http://www.australianmigrations.com/visa_citizenship_rrt.htm

Hi, I was just wondering if you came on holiday to Australia a couple of months before receiving your PR does the 4 year citizenship clock start from then?

    <p><p>Hi,</p></p>

    <p><p> </p></p>

<p><p>I have seen you are the expert on shipping cars and I wondered if I could ask you some questions regarding my situation. Basically I've owned my mini for 8 years and we moved here in September and I've lent him to a friend and signed over ownership so he could get a parking permit.</p></p>

    <p><p> </p></p>

<p><p>Now we're here we're thinking it'd be nice to bring the car over but looks like I've messed up by signing over the ownership. Is there any way around this? Any help would be appreciated. I think I'm in a catch 22 now as if I ask the friend to sign ownership back over to me I'll not get to be in the UK for 12 months as reckon we'll be here for a good few years. We're on a 176 visa.</p></p>

  9. Hi James, I responded to previous posts so got an email alerts me of your message. My boyfriend Niall is keen to play. He's set up this Meet up Group http://www.meetup.com/Football-Soccer/?gj=ej1b&a=_l4 to try get a few guys together for a game of football. If you're intersted you should sign up. Niall's not on Poms in Oz so I thought I'd let you know! Fiona
  10. Ok well I'll let you know how Thursday goes! It's more about meeting new people as well and if you're a book worm you should have something in common with people!
  11. Ok so sorry everyone I didn't check this as I didn't get any notifications. I also got told about Meet Up which is a website where you can find heaps of events going on. I created a Sydney book club page on there (http://www.meetup.com/Sydneybc/events/37222932/) and it's been very popular. I'm not really sure what will happen next as way too many people to be in a book club but if people fancy it we're going to meet at Sappho Books 51 Glebe Point Road, Glebe (map) on Thursday if anyone fancies it from 6:30pm onwards. Even if it's only to meet similar people and start sub book club groups it'll be fun!
  12. Great, November is fine. No pressure on time! If anyone else is interested just say. It's not hard core reading at all it's more of a social club!
  13. Might be worth checking out Spreets (http://spreets.com.au/home/Sydney) they have good deals on there for hairdressers (although none on there at the moment)!
  14. Was great to meet you all too! Certainly up for more events if others are keen! There was talk of visit to Manly, picnic in Botanical gardens and trip to Hunter Valley! If anyone is up for it happy to help organise!
  15. I wondered if anyone would be interested in starting a book club. Nothing major was thinking we could plan to meet up either monthly or every other month and chat about a book. I used to do it in London with friends and we'd take a turn to recommend a book and also the person who had chosen the book would find a new bar for us to try. I thought it'd be fun way to meet people so thought I'd see if anyone else fancied it! Fiona
