  1. Hi all, Just thought I’d update everyone... I just had my citizenship test. The DHA officer who conducted the interview mentioned that they were going to postpone ALL citizenship tests and ceremonies for the next 6 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She said a formal announcement will be made soon. Ceremonies for urgent cases may still be considered according to the officer. (This is just what I was told and with the situation changing so quickly, we should wait for a formal announcement).
  2. Hello everyone... I thought it is a good idea to have a Thread on the citizenship timeline for years 2013/2104 and it could help many people who are on their way to apply for citizenship  People who applied in previous years are also welcome to share their timeline as well. I just thought that the most recent the information is the more accurate it will be. Therefore please share your timeline using below format : Date applied City/Council area Online / Paper Date received the acknowledgement email Date of the Citizenship Test Date of ceremony Type of ceremony (Urgent/Normal) Above is what I thought is good to know. If you think there are other point that could benefit anyone please feel free to add . I'm thanking everyone in advance
  3. Hi, I am currently living in Kirribilli NSW and wondered is there anyone from the same council who could share experience for waiting time of ceremony ? thanks. Fiona

    citizenship ceremony

Good afternoon guys I got my approval citizenship Australia in last month but I'm still not get ceremony invitation I am planning to travel this month so my question is Is my ceremony citizenship effect or delay while I'm overseas? :chatterbox:
  5. Hi all, I hope I am in the right place for this question. Let me explain my current circumstance first. I am based on South Yarra (Stonnington council) and will sit the Australian citizenship test on 24th of February. I might need to move out to other place where is not possibly a place of Stonnington council or even overseas after the test. In this case, who should I contact to update my address? the council or the DIAC? and is the Stonnington council still my council relating to all Citizenship process such as the ceremony? And the worst case that if I will have to stay overseas for a long time, how can I be notified of the process? Do they provide an email service If I don't have any Australia-based address? (And also... I am not sure I will be able to stay overseas on the way of the Citizenship process even if it doesn't seem to be a problem based on the link: http://www.citizenship.gov.au/ceremonies/attending_ceremony/) But I might stay overseas more than 1 year. Any comments would be appreciated.
  6. Hi Guys, Just a few quick questions. First off I notice there is not alot of Information for citizenship as there is with visas on blogs and forums (correct me if I am wrong of course). I have been living in Australia since February 2009 and in August 2013 I will be a full year on PR so I can officially apply for Australian Citizenship. My questions are as follow: 1. What is the turn around at the moment for sitting the test i.e. from the date you apply on-line to dat you sit test. 2. Once the test is completed how long to Ceremony (With the Ceremony I am well aware that its dependent on the local council however ATM I am looking for a rough estimate if anyone has that information) I spoke to Australian Citizenship today and also some of my mates whom are going through the process and they are saying its between 6 to 10 months all inclusive. The reason I am curious is I want to book a few months overseas for a bit of travelling and looks like Ill be able to plan nothing until after May/June. Any information is greatly appreciated. And thanks for taking the time to read. Also if there is a spreadsheet with the date applied what council etc might be a good idea some similar to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtjmLt4bD4fJdGstYU9ZcHJJRUJHV05GSXRHUXdNY2c#gid=0 Cheers, PT
  7. Which council would you recommend for the citizenship ceremony ? In my council I would need to wait many months because there is long, very long waiting list. I was thinking in moving to another council area. I live in a suburb of Sydney. The city of Sydney seems a good council but the rents are too expensive. Which council would you recommend ? Thanks ---------------------- Also: Can one change council for the citizenship ceremony ? I was reading comments by other persons that that is not allowed.
