    Forum offline on Saturday

The forum will be offline for a period of time on Saturday from around 01:00am GMT, (11:00am EST) whilst we upgrade the forum software. Basic functionality *should* be restored within around 4 hours, although work on the forum will continue for a couple of days afterwards. As a result of the upgrade, it is also necessary for us to install a new template (design). The forum will have a similar look and feel to our sister site - pominadelaide.com, although the site will retain an 'orange' flavour, so it won't be a total departure from the existing colour scheme ! (At a later stage, we plan to offer a choice of colour schemes) If anyone encounters and problems or has any questions about the upgrade, you can either message me directly, or post in the 'Feedback & Suggestions' area of the forum. Thanks Robert Admin

    IELTS on Saturday

I'm taking the General exam on Saturday - any last-minute advice please? I need an 8 in all four compartments... Thank you kindly, Dx
  4. Hey, Some of you might know me from previous nights out that I've planned, well I might arrange another one this weekend if anyone fancies it. It's the AFL grand final day; I'm not really interested in it but it's a lively day out on the Melbourne calendar so it should be fun. I spent the day around Fitzroy and Collingwood last year but I'll wait to see what sort of response I get before deciding on a place for this Saturday. Cheers, John
  5. If you are up for a friendly game of Football (Soccer) this weekend, or every weekend for that matter get in touch. There are at least 10 of us playing 5 aside at Moore Park opposite the Captain Cook Hotel on Flinders St, normally between Anzac Parade and South Dowling. Playing regularly every Saturday at 11.00am to get in shape, meet new people and have a laugh. I'm English, 25, Male, moved to Aus with my gf and half (1/4) decent at football, always a little competitive, but in it for fun. I am here on a 4 year visa so hoping to make it a long term thing. Skill level absolutely anything from beginner to professional (I will be amazed if any pro footballers appear but you never know). Send me an email if you've got any questions, or with your contact details if you're going to show up. Let me know if its just yourself, or with friends, and maybe a bit about yourself. I'll email confirmation mid week with contact details. You wont need football trainers or boots - though I'm sure it will help. If any one is up for a beer after then I'm sure we can accommodate, we usually do!

  12. I went up to Chatswood tonight to meet my mate Bill for a beer at the RSL club. It was OK in there and I did arrive very late - 930pm - but, after about an hour decided to look for somewhere to eat and the main shopping mall/street was desolate, very few places open for late eats. Could not even find a Macca. It's a major shopping/admin/transport hub and I know it's very busy during the day but I don't care for that desolate feeling. Got a decent pizza at the RSL anyway. Funny, there wasn't a soul on the train back to the city at 1am either.

    Saturday is the big day...

...after several years of talking about it - and several weeks of tearful goodbyes - the time has come to put the theory into practice and board our one way flights to Oz. To say I am crapping myself is somewhat of an understatement.

    What's your perfect Saturday night?

We all have different ideas of what makes a good evening, so am interested to hear what your perfect Saturday night is? I wish I could lie and say that mine was rock n roll and would consist of partying until the small hours, but I just can't be ar7ed any more..:laugh:. My perfect Saturday night would involve having a few close friends over, have a few drinks and a laugh and have some good music playing, maybe a bbq or some nice snacks, and generally be a bit daft.

  23. So this is it we'll be setting foot on Australian soil Sunday 28th March and were staying until 15th April. Roll on 3am Saturday morning when we get picked up to be driven to Heathrow Airport to start our dreams in motion... We're stopping with my Bro and his family which is gonna be a big help. It looks like my wife Pam has a job on the Gold Coast well it looks like she has the choice of 2 jobs which is even better. We've a car booked with Redspot and we found they were the best on prices and we've booked the all inclusive deal so no extra costs at all. We've arranged a couple of of visits to schools around the Helensvale area which is where we fancy because it's close enough to work for my wife and just over an hour to my Brothers. Obviously we'll be driving round a few area's and looking for one's we like the look of. Really excited now... Then we'll have about 5 months before we take the final steps to move over for good... I'll update this thread as we learn more from our experiences which might help others Howard

    Melbourne Black Saturday Bushfires

Well most people have carried on with their lives and some may have forgot about the devastation that the fires caused in February 2009. I read today an article from a 15 year old boy of how he went back to try and save his mum and 2 brothers you can read the article here: Teenager Jonathon Inzitari tells the bushfires Royal Commission of his desperate bid to save his family from the inferno | Herald Sun It brought a tear to my eye, imagine the pain that this child and his father must still feel hearing his mother and brothers screams. Can I ask you all to spare a few seconds to remember those families, I know it isn't an anniversary of the event but that shouldn't stop us remembering the ones who suffered from this terrible tragedy and maybe donating a couple of dollars to the CFA. League 1 Football on Saturday

Hi all, We've just arrived in Brissy and Millwall have reached the playoffs. Does anyone know where it might be showing on Saturday, if at all? I've phoned the pig n whistle on Queen St and they said if Foxtel are showing it then they will put it on a screen for me but don't know if it is. Thanks all. Let the jibes begin  Stephen
