  1. Hello! I've played in the Wednesday Night Elwood League (venue at Elwood College, Glen Huntly Road) for about a year and we have a core team but due to injuries and people heading home etc. we have lost some players and need some reliable people to become part of our team.We all play for a bit of fun, exercise and comradeship. It’s a very honest, supportive and positive team so if it sounds like something you’d like to commit to, then message back and we’ll sort out details etc. Cheers!Ian

Hey guys, Mitchelton City League will begin their training in December with a look to realy kick it off early next year. We are looking for any interested players that will be committed to a full season of football, training is twice a week (can have discussions about a lesser commitment) and games on the weekend. We play in divisions 3,5 and 7. We are especially in need of a couple quality goal keepers, so get in contact if you are interested.

  6. Hallo, I am Diangelo, I live in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) and I am a striker. I play football since very young. Most people around here gave me the nickname Balotelli. I am an excellent striker and fast. Originally my parents came from South America (Suriname) just near Brazil. The same country as Clarence Seedorf etc. I would really find it awesome to show myself to a club there, I got enough experience . And I am 18 years old. What are my options? I would like to play abroad! Greetings Diangelo!
  7. Hello. Have decided to quit the big smoke of london and have taken up a new job in Sydney. Moving over in mid-feb with my partner but very much looking to socialise and build up a good friendship group. Both very creative people - who's backgrounds are in Media and Fashion and looking to offset this with some socialising and some form of sport. Keen footballer - who is trying to still be peter pan (have played a lot of indoor football), keen runner and likes to play squash. Also interested in Boxing (although never actually done it other than watch Rocky in awe. Up for a few beers, beats or general creative chat. Any help, advice, or pointers would be greatly appreciative. Many thanks Dan
  8. Swinburne Football Club consists of two men's teams (Seniors and Reserves) and one women's team. The men compete in the Amateur Soccer Federation of Victoria (called VicSoccer) and play in Premier League on a Sunday Afternoon. The women compete in the Football Federation of Victoria (FFV) and play in the South East Metropolitan League. The club is affiliated with Swinburne university however most its members are non students. We have a broad mixture of cultures and nationalities who play for us. The commitee also endorse a social culture where all teams regularly attend social gatherings (organised via facebook and twitter) After 4 very succesful years - our first team coach has stepped down. We are looking to appoint an experienced 1st team coach who will lead a change of culture and drive the club to further success. During the season, training sessions are held on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. Salary expectations will be discussed during the interview stage. Pre-season training commences in late January but many of the lads have commenced their own training schedules to prepare. The committee would ideally like to appoint someone before formal training commences. As an expat (and committee member) myself, it would be a breath of fresh air to appoint an experienced expat coach looking to join a very friendly and success-hungry club. For more details or to apply for the role. Please PM me.

It's hard enough trying to engage any Aussies in conversation about the cricket as it is, and when you do the theme seems to be how they are being cheated out of this series, as is also the consensus of media coverage here. Another shocking DRS decision has gone against them so expect the same reaction to the current test. Usman Khawaja wrongly being out will make the most minor of differences to the outcome of this test. It was an awful decision though!
  10. G'day all, Expat Brit lving in near Albert/Middle Park, working on Collins. Already have a network of friends in Melbourne but still struggling to play enough sport. People seem a tad clicky about their teams.... In Dubai couldnt get enough, football (soccer), tennis, basketball, touch, etc etc wondering if any others in need...getting to a level of desperate as the gym is getting boring. Calling any sports teams or individuals who need a sporting fit competitor and growth of a social life. james
  11. Hello to all, The 34th Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament is being played in Melbourne from Dec 1st to Dec 9th. It would be great to have as many supporters there as possible to cheer on our boys as they get revenge on the Aussies for London! This tournament has the best of the best playing, so it should be a lot of fun to watch. Personally, I'll be there in facepaint with chants ready. Regards, HockeyNut

    Soccer Franchise

I have been in Victoria for approx. 1 year & hold the Master Franchise for Little Kickers (Pre-School football Classes) I am currently running classes in The Mornington Peninsula & am always looking for casual coaches. If you are good with kids & have an outgoing personality please get in contact. I am also opening classes in the Kew, St Kilda, Hawthorn areas in Feb/March 2012 & have jobs available for good coaches who are available to work on a Saturday & Sunday morning. Alternatively if you are looking for a change of lifestyle & the opportunity to work flexible hours for yourself please get in touch as Little Kickers has franchises for sale around the state.
  13. Hi, Once upon a time I was young & fit and ran marathons and had friends (Aussies) I ran with. Now I'm less young (60 to be precise), have various injuries that restrict me to a couple of kilometers on a treadmill (at the moment) and my running mates have moved away or given up. I still train regularly - swimming in summer, weights and cycling in winter and some running - but the lure of my warm bed early in the morning in winter means I often don't exercise as much as I'd like to. It would be great to have one or more training partners to motivate me (i.e. get me up early) and help each other - better still if they were Poms so we could talk about intellectual things like football, pubs and beer. Age and sex are irrelevent, but it would be good if we had similar levels of fitness and some goals to aim at. Mine are to run 7km again in a reasonable time (say 32 minutes), to do the Sydney to Woolongong bike ride in November, do lots of ocean swims next season (but I don't swim until September because I'm too much of a wimp to swim when it's cold outside) and lose some of the 18 kilos I've put on since my last marathon (in 1987, so not exactly recent). I train before work in the mornings and live in Leichhardt, work in North Sydney and I'm a member of North Sydney pool/gym so the inner west, CBD or North Sydney are convenient locations. Personal info; work as a consultant, (i.e. irregularly), been here 32 years, born Hartlepool, support Swindon Town as well as Hartlepool United (I go for the glamour clubs), been back to the UK lots on business & hols, happily married. And yes, it can be hard to make friends here - I still find I have more in common (particularly humour) with Poms. Cheers, Steve Hall
  14. Hello All, Has anyone had experience with this type of visa? My partner could qualify for it [sport] and we were wondering if anyone has applied for it and had first hand experience with doing the application themselves or through an agent? Any tips would be appreciated and info on processing times etc... Kind Regards, Leigh
  15. I'm just floating this idea for now, to see what reception it gets..... Please read ALL of the following (don't switch off after the first sentence!) Would anyone be interested in forming a beach volleyball team at Cranbourne Leisure Centre? I take my daughter to play netball there on a Wednesday night and have to walk past the 4 indoor courts they have there. Don't worry, you do NOT need any sort of sporting ability - no wishing to sound rude here but many of the people playing are as well toned as I am (and that's saying a lot, trust me!!!!). From what little I have seen it seems to involve you standing there squidging your toes in the sand watch the ball fly past and every time it comes close to you, you swing your arm at it! I just thought it might be a laugh and have a get together on a weekly bonus. Oh and did I mention that there is a bar in between the courts? Told you it was worth reading this to the end! Anyway I'm just curious as to what others may think, let me know... Geoff 'Doesn't have a six pack - it's more like a party pack.'
  16. Hi There! Im currently studying for a sports therapy degree here in the UK, i was wondering whether there are many job opportunities in oz for us? whether my qualification will be allowed or will i have to gain a australian qualification? any information would be great!! thank you
  17. If you are up for a friendly game of Football (Soccer) this weekend, or every weekend for that matter get in touch. There are at least 10 of us playing 5 aside at Moore Park opposite the Captain Cook Hotel on Flinders St, normally between Anzac Parade and South Dowling. Playing regularly every Saturday at 11.00am to get in shape, meet new people and have a laugh. I'm English, 25, Male, moved to Aus with my gf and half (1/4) decent at football, always a little competitive, but in it for fun. I am here on a 4 year visa so hoping to make it a long term thing. Skill level absolutely anything from beginner to professional (I will be amazed if any pro footballers appear but you never know). Send me an email if you've got any questions, or with your contact details if you're going to show up. Let me know if its just yourself, or with friends, and maybe a bit about yourself. I'll email confirmation mid week with contact details. You wont need football trainers or boots - though I'm sure it will help. If any one is up for a beer after then I'm sure we can accommodate, we usually do!

After Aussie V8's and the annual F1 what other races are recommended?

    children & sport

Hi guys, Can any one tell me what the sport, in particular football, is like for children? Is there a lot of structure & money invested in them, particularly if they are showing a talent & ability in a certain area? We have a 6 year old that is enrolled in a development academy for football so just wanted to see if such things are in place in Oz, we are off to South Audtralia. Thanks anyone for any info
