Hi, I'm a mechanical engineer with 4+ experience who recently got 176 visa and planning to move to perth soon. I would love to work in the oil and gas industry. Do you have any openings for engineers who are new to oil and gas industry?

you should ask for a copy from british council for which they are going to charge you, and from my experience you need to submit an Original Hard copy of your IELTS score for your skill assessment

I think it is time we advice everyone not to use an agent unless their case is very complicated. I'm using a registered agent for my visa but i'm very disappointed by the services provided by him. If I had known about this forum before i applied for my visa i would have done it myself :embarrassed:

Since u r an examiner, i just have a simple question for u (I already did my IELTS and got the required minimum 7 in all bands): the most weirdest part in speaking is when the examiner gives you a topic and you are required to talk, so based on what do you select the topic? I was asked to talk about someone who I know is a risk taker and for almost 40seconds I just sat there thinking who to talk about cause i just couldn't think of anyone and finally something came up in my mind and I just had 20seconds to prepare, wouldn't it be nicer and better if you guys gave the examinees the options to choose from few topics to talk about?

he debbi it seems u haven't practiced enough. Usually the first two modules are suppose to be the easiest...may be it was over confidence or laziness...I'm sure u will get the 8s u require in the next try. Good luck!

Greggers I think you should have appealed for revaluation of your writing module of the first test because the only two modules where an appeal can result in better score are writing and speaking anyways I think it is too late better luck next time

You can send DIAC your visa copy, because if u were working in saudi u need to have a working visa, which for me I think is the biggest proof that u were working, but along that u need to show them your pay slip or bank statement and I think you should also have copy of your contract which usually u sign when working in the middle east

DIAC's motto: People our business... Unfortunately DIAC don't like to be constantly asked about the progress of your visa status, and from what i have heard it might further delay the process cause then DIAC will think there is something suspicious... So, I have decided not to check the online status of my visa which haven't changed for almost 6 months and sit quite till it is the 12th month, so i have a reason to mail them and remind them of the 12 months that are mentioned in their website.:tongue:

Well i applied for 176 sponsored by WA, and im from a HR country. Its already 4months since i got a CO so I'm not sure probably another 4 months based on what i have noticed for applicants from HR country.

I was allocated a CO just after 10 days from lodging the visa,but now stuck wid security check for being from a HR country
