  1. I've heard that if at all possible then it's best to pour boiling water on funnel web spiders and white tails. Obviously depends on the spiders location.
  2. I'm more concerned about white-tails; nasty little b*ggers! At least red backs will leave you alone if you leave them alone. White tails roam wherever they like and can give you a nasty surprise anywhere.
  3. I used a hotel address for heaps of things when I first came to Aus. Then started using an address we used as a temporary base for 5 weeks before we got our first rental lease elsewhere. We've moved twice since then. I don't consider any of them "permanent addresses" [emoji4]
  4. I love Melbourne weather. Lots of variety!! Currently 23c and sitting in the garden under a parasol. I consider this a cool summer day; if it was 23c back home in Kilmarnock I'd be packing the car and heading to the beach because that is considered a heat-wave!
  5. I upgraded to the iP6 last month (128gb model). The camera is much sharper and responds very quickly compared to my old iP5. Much better in low-light situations too. I'm a fairly heavy camera user at work and I usually used to charge my old iP5 at least once during the day as well as overnight. For me, battery life is the biggest bonus; the battery in the iP6 lasts way longer than the 5. I only need to charge the iP6 overnight and I've not really come close to running out of charge yet.

In the settings options for tuning it. There may be an option for manually selecting the country.
  7. No more, or less, expensive than any other city in Aus. It all depends how you look after your money. If you want to spend it all in fine dining restaurants, then your cash will get swallowed up pretty quickly in any City. If you are more frugal with your cash then it won't be as much of an issue. 8. iCloud backup or local backup through iTunes to your PC. You can then do a restore on the phone. You could only "accidentally format" it if you deliberately selected to erase everything on the phone in the general, settings, reset page. Chance of virus damage on an iPhone is practically nil.
  9. You might be lucky and get it granted this year. My visa took just over 3 months with everything prepared and lodged at the same time through my migration agent.
  10. PR granted earlier this year. Both Me and Mrs are 45, kids are 19, 17 and 14. Circumstances are different for everyone who moves to the other side of the world. It's not been without its troubles for us, but can't complain too much! :-)
  11. Are you sure that you ..... erm ....... Santa, didn't actually acquire these products more than a year ago? [emoji6]
  12. I had my medicals earlier this year. My UC didn't warrant the slightest batting of an eyelid from the Doc. Only my previous cancer and associated treatment required further evidence in support of my PR application. A further letter from my consultant oncologist cleared everything up in a few sentences. (Basically described symptoms, described treatment, and for now everything is hunky dory, just observations a few times a year). If your UC is under control then I wouldn't worry too much about the medicals.
  13. Don't use the aircon until it gets really really hot. You'll get used to the heat. [emoji2]
  14. When I was on 457's they were valid from the date they were granted. (4 year 457's)
  15. Probably best to ask on a Canadian migration forum
  16. Personal allowance is circa £10k regardless of whether you are an expat with UK rental property. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/rates-and-allowances-income-tax/rates-and-allowances-income-tax
  17. A cv with cover letter explaining why you are a better prospect than someone local perhaps? Not an easy situation I guess. If I were you, I'd be trying to source prospective employers and then contacting them directly, rather than relying on a 3rd party to make contact for you. It might carry a little more weight if you are seen to be doing this yourself. You don't have any control over the style of approach made by a 3rd party. Just my 2p-worth. Unfortunately if your occupation is no longer on one of the lists, that would suggest that there is no demand for migrants to fill those vacancies in that profession. What has your MA suggested?
  18. Yes he'll be able to insure it. Phone insurance company, give personal details ( I guess he would use your address), give vehicle details, they quote you a premium, you accept and pay, or decline and move on to the next insurance co for a quote. If it's just for 3 months, why not buy the vehicle in your name, insure it in your name and have your FIL as a named driver?
  19. What "2nd part" are you referring to? Do you have an occupation on one of the occupations lists? Why were you advised that 457 is the option to "go for"? You don't really "go for" a 457. An employer has to want you firstly in order for them to subsequently nominate you. Employer has to be an approved sponsoring employer. Can you meet the requirements for, and apply for a permanent visa? A common stock answer here is to advise consulting with a migration agent.
  20. Yes, I would be very scared if you were planning on exchanging body fluids with strangers. Avoid that, and you have nothing to worry about.
  21. Since when MUST you change your licence after 6 months? Temporary visa holders do not have to change their licence unless they become permanent residents. Or is it different for commercial driving licences?
  22. Good report. Extra kudos for the Chocolate Lab! We pick up our new Choc lab puppy on Friday!
