  1. Yes they need at least half of their children together to be Australian PR's or Citizens in order to pass the Balance of Family test. They do not currently meet that requirement.
  2. Imagine the cost- no income, no child allowances, school fees to pay etc etc

the Bridging visa does not apply to the 103 - only the 804 which is for Aged applicants . They can apply onshore & stay till grant.
  4. It's easy enough to do yourself. You will get an acknowledgement of receipt & then nothing further until ready to process, which with 103 will obviously be a long time so be prepared to let it go. Same with Meds & further Documents. They'll contact you by phone & email. for those applying for 143- my instructions for dates of Meds/Police checks came one year after applying- then was given a further 4 months to complete.

@HappyHeart- the 103/804route is open with a long waiting time- they can sit on the application until it suits them to move ... &/or swap to the contributory version in future years if it suits. Better than waiting for it to be repealed again & wishing they'd tried?
  6. No he won't be asked for it at the time of application. If you go through the forms you're asked to provide as part of the application, you will see it's all about your personal info. The AOS is not done until all other steps are completed, including Meds- so presumably if you failed the Meds you would never get to AOS stage anyway.
  7. When you're asked to do the AOS which is when the visa's about to be granted. Apply for the 103 sooner rather than later if you're going to before they shut it down again- you can switch to the 143 at any time.
  8. Congratulations Carolyn- have an amazing Australia Day celebrating your PR !!
  9. are they still with the agent ? they can apply for the 600 visa & be granted a maximum stay of 12months in any 18month period- ie after 12m they have to leave for the grant of 143, however long it takes. If they time it right, they would only have to go offshore for a couple of days. They ring you (actually the sponsor in my case) with all of this & follow up with email.
  10. Haha I did say 18+........ However mine is ready to grant at 19months , so that's pretty spot on at the moment at least.
  11. My application date was June 13 & the medical & police check was requested for October 14. There was no communication from them until June 14. (Except the usual acknowledgements). Given that we know the rough waiting time for the 143 (18m plus) it's perhaps best not to expect to hear anything further for the first year, then you won't be disappointed. My only gripe with DIBP is why it takes 18m + to process in the first place, but it is what it is unfortunately!
  12. The 600. But only if she overstays the 12months allowed stay in any 18m period. btw she can go offshore anywhere in the world to be granted the 143, doesn't have to be UK

There's a very informative Parents Sticky thread at the top of the main page Bev
  14. I know someone just going into the 801 phase- they have recently been asked to provide further documents which support proof that the relationship is committed & ongoing- ie joint household bills/ lease/recent photographs together (dated)/ letters or cards addressed to both/ & if you have nominated the partner as beneficiary to your Super fund /willetc.
  15. If you choose to use an agent, just make sure they are MARA registered. You can google & find plenty. It's an easy enough one to do yourself though as long as you meet the requirements...... 143 visa if you're under 65....18-22m wait, cost around $108k currently. Start with http://www.immi.gov.au
  16. Got my Case Officer today for 143. . My lodgement date was 20th June 14 - previously applied 103 June 13... So 19m ( & a bit longer while I do AFP check )
  17. If you've told the truth & everything to do with the business (& the owner) is perfectly legal & in order then why would you worry?
  18. so if the mother's Australian-born the child will be an Aussie Citizen too ? so no Medical required ? ( or did you mean the child is Australian born but not the mother ) and automatic Parental Rights etc are a UK assumption......what country are you in robin?
  19. looks like I'm two weeks behind you Caroline- I expect my email any day lol
  20. the Visa charge is a bit more than that - I believe I paid $3520 earlier this year. The $43600 is correct though. Also it is possible to apply onshore for a Parent Visa even if under 65. However you have to be offshore for it to be granted.
  21. do you mean medicals completed in Sydney? did mine in Sydney recently & it's all a bit of a guess tbh- you don't hear anything if all's well- mine got uploaded to Immi next day - no news is good news after that apparently. I've had no notification at all- just have to trust them ( I heard it takes about 11 days or them to be finalised, but who can say when they don't inform you ?! ) one less thing to worry about I think ! Although I think on some visas where you can check your progress online, you might in time see Finalised.
  22. like Jac said you don't need a visa to get nursing registration- but you can't get back to work in us as a nurse on a permanent basis without a PR Visa! & the best one is the 189. so follow her indications above- you need IELTS, ANMAC, EOI, Visa Appl. Google the 189 visa process for clarification.
