  1. people are getting the 143 in closer to 12-15 months surely? that's the DIAC estimate anyway ...not heard of anyone waiting anywhere near that long !
  2. You've got that about right actually, though it's obviously not what you want to hear ! Additionally though- the sponsor will need to be a "settled" permanent resident (generally assumed to be around 2 years after grant /arrival in Aus) before she could even apply. There are visitor visa options of course.
  3. Do you mean 3 have PR or Citizenship & the 4th has a 457? The parents need to pass the Balance of family test which you seem to be aware of -get them to read the Parent Booklet 3 from http://www.immi.gov.au/parents which will give you an overview of the Parent/Aged Parent visas. If one of your parents is over 65 & onshore visiting you, they are allowed to apply for the appropriate visa yes. If not, they will have to sit it out offshore & use the longer visas for visiting family while they wait.
  4. What have you paid so far ? the thing is, the 143 is well over $40k now, so the 173/143 is going to be at least this amount.
  5. hi summerdaisy- the Visa Pricing Table takes some studying! but from what I can see your payments so far have been in the region of 2370 & 16885? (might have been upped slightly following the July changes since you paid). you 2nd installment as far as I can see is going to be $£29130...go into the immi website & have a check yourself, but it looks as though going the 173/143 route costs around 4k more than the straight 143. Anyone chip in if I've read this wrong :wideeyed:
  6. Theoretically yes- but it is means-tested. If you enter something like "state pension" into the search bar at the top of the page you will find lots of info on this
  7. Note: A step-child is a child: of applicant's current partner I think this indicates that there is no problem regarding your stepchildren. This is from the DIAC Balance of Family Document - you can Google such information.
  8. wow that's been harsh for you but a great result in the end- wish you well for the future after all the stress !
  9. Why don't you email your case officer and ask him/her? When I did my visa (general skilled migration then, we are sponsoring my parents now), I found my CO very helpful and quick to respond to any queries, even one I had after my visa was granted! I think this answer from Learjet was for you.. you have a CO so that person should be able to help you
  10. Anyone know anything about this? none of the agents seem to .....:daydreaming:
  11. I understood they all had to be stamped & signed "certified". Mine went to a solicitor- very reasonable cost, £5 for the first& £2 each for subsequent docs- did have to ring around a few though, some solicitors think their 10 minutes is worth a fortune!
  12. Where did you hear that about 143's moving onto 103's? & the drastic fall in 143 applicants? a link would be useful.
  13. You really need to start at the very beginning with the immi.gov.au website- given that it's going to be a while before you get there yourself, & you would need to be a settled Permanent resident before your mum could even think of applying. If you go back about 10 pages here though & start reading, it will at least begin to give you an idea of what you're taking on!
  14. :daydreaming: I appreciate you want to do your best by your brother here, but I think you know the answer to that question really ! (presuming he lives in the UK of course!) Even if he was unemployed he would be financially supported by the state; but he works full time ! & neither way could he be classed as dependent on his mum even if she chooses not to let him pay any living costs. Maybe encourage him to skill up instead in order to improve his prospects for the future?
  15. Val- I was just doing the same because every time someone asks this question I think there's a different answer ! I did see once that liverpooloo said her child was deemed "settled" in under 2 years due to proving job, rental etc, it must have struck a chord with me at the time! but I dont know how she got the criteria verified...maybe she'll come along & add some detail..
  16. oh wow TP so happy for you, congrats !!!!!! hope that means I might hear some good news for my girl too soon as you seemed to be on the same timeline ...
  17. well I can't help but think it would help their end-of-week closure figures & make them look ever more efficient if they ticked some of these off where you'e done all the hard work making sure it's ready to go- my fingers are crossed for a great Christmas present for you both!! (we'll be over there ready to celebrate if mine gets the magic message!)
  18. You got confirmation of a valid app tho didn't you TP? (same as my daughter that's why I remember)...I think they'll treat it as DRC don't you? since atm the "system" is unable to differentiate & you've given them everything they need- hope so anyway
  19. Hi Nicola- you need to read the links you were given as it will explain it all to you- basically though your mum & dad have 3 children- To satisfy the BoF 2 of them already need to be "settled" in Aus before she can apply for a Parent Visa. So until you get there & settle yourselfthey will not be able to apply forthemselves & your younger sister ( & you would need to talk to a RMA to determine if she would be classed as dependent on them)
