  1. actually can't remember what they asked me for that time sorry Maisiedaisy- but it wouldn't have been much- I just remember uploading a couple of docs - passport again maybe? But I had been in Aus for 3 months when I applied for the 600 so they gave me the remaining 9 months. I only needed 6 months of that before I got my 143 - & then believe me I wiped all the waiting times & agonising over what might happen to prevent it from my brain- oh the relief that it was all over- I'm sure you'll feel the same !
  2. Very easy IME & granted within a couple of days
  3. That's fabulous news for you- after the initial disappointment in the Agents you approached this one even helped you find a job? I know at least a couple of people who would be glad to to hear of a really helpful agent so thanks for posting & good luck with the move
  4. The 804 is still open atm- I think you're generally expected to stay onshore despite the long wait- but would not be refused permission to return home to wind up financial affairs etc.
  5. Yes , I'm wondering what type of 'support' you mean really - & I'm one of the parents who's just coughed up $60k for my visa ( I'm not rich either- that's a huge assumption some people make ) The terms of the visa are well explained - there are no offers of Government support within them. On that basis it's obviously not for everyone, it is a big life-changing decision, and one you have to be prepared to make despite the financial risk if you're not able to work for instance.
  6. Sounds wonderful- just got my own 143 granted & discussing the possibilities of doing a similar thing for a year maybe when my eldest finishes school :)Good luck with the next stage!
  7. Well it sounds like you're pretty near to completion. It might be best to email them & ask the question so that you've got the payment ready when requested. Or wait till they email you for the payment & then you'll have a parson to contact directly.
  8. I don't know Kent very well but have a friend who lives in Lyminge I've visited a few times- lovely area. just wanted to say your thread title reminded me a lovely song of the same name by Gerry Rafferty- brilliant
  9. Robert, I recently passed the medical with a condition similar to this (& my vision is quite considerably affected)As long as you can read the charts it seems you're ok - I did report my difficulties (ie I can only read with one eye) & was not referred or asked for Consultant's reports.(Mind you I was paying full whack for a Parent Visa- I don't know if there's any allowance given for that since it's so expensive)
  10. I came over Kath on the 103 & an e-visitor visa. Towards the end of my 3 month stay I applied for 143 & 600 to await 143 grant. The 600 was granted overnight (for the remaining 9 months) Ozmaniac is spot on (as usual)
  11. Of course Becky- we have similarly difficult circumstances- I was leaving a child alone & your mum will be totally stressed that you might go into labour the minute she leaves! No allowances made for our circumstances I'm afraid- a horribly inflexible attitude from Immi in my case. however, knowing what I know now, in your mum's circumstances I'd plan the next flight back after checking her Visa Grant on arrival in NZ
  12. Which means she can come straight back if she wants - wish I'd known they'd grant it as soon as I went through Passport Control- they insisted on 3 working days even though I specifically asked the question as I had to leave a teenager at home ( under family supervision I might add , but he insists on his independence & didn't want to miss school) - & to go alone was the last thing on earth I wanted to do - fortunately I had my daughter & granddaughter with me in the end & a fabulous holiday- but we were lucky she could get time off at short notice because of them refusing to budge on the totally false 3 day rule. They were not very human at all in my case ! And still waiting since 16th Feb for the letter giving the grant details in the post in addition to that simple email- not impressed!
  13. It's closer to $95k- plus a double AoS bond of &14k which is refunded after 10years with interest.
  14. I can't remember the questions now but presumably you mean what visa did I have to declare I was on? I had to supply a copy of it to them & it was the 651 Visitor Visa. just read back & realised you asked me something else sorry- no extra duty or anything- & in my own name. This was also Pickfords- excellent service
  15. Just to answer your original question though- yes I did this earlier this year. No questions asked- shipped to my daughter's address. I was on a Visitor a Visa waiting on a Parent visa & flew on a one- way ticket. Whether people consider it proper or not it worked out fine.
  16. Yes I'd say you're right Becky- that was certainly my experience- visa granted as soon as I landed offshore & validate whichever date we choose to return. my AOS also took around 10 weeks - no reason that I could see for it to be held up for so long with Immi- they must just not want to be seen to be granting too quickly imho. Very frustrating for such an expensive visa which already has a long wait to grant. We are at their mercy. All the best with everything
  17. Hi Julie- yes just under a year after I applied I came over on a Visitor visa which was still current (651) when that 3 month stay was nearly up I applied online for 600 - granted immediately with 9 months on it then had Meds onshore in Sydney

    Medicals

But you can ask anything you like at the Medical itself- I was recently post-op on my eyes & worried it might be a problem so I asked . They told me there & then all was fine, plus I asked to see the chest x-Ray . We had a long enough chat for me to know they weren't going to refer. There are blood tests etc they can't predict of course. And then within just a few days they send the med results on, so if you haven't heard anything you just have to presume it's all ok. Nobody from Immi ever tells you anything.
  19. Hi everyone- could have got granted a bit sooner but didn't want to take a holiday offshore as we had family visiting- so the waiting time was really around the 19month mark.I had also tipped over the 12m mark for my own time in Aus accumulated over annual trips here, so had to get an AFP check. but basically , as soon as I paid the 2nd VAC & it had cleared they wanted me to pop off so they could do the right thing & grant. When I got off the plane & switched my phone on , I discovered that the grant happened the moment I cleared Passport Control! could have just had a walk around the airport And that's all you get- an email, still waiting to receive the actual written docs. I like things on paper !
  20. Thank you Joe I'm already here in Sydney- came over after almost a year -spent the last 8 months on a 600 Visitor Visa & just had a lovely break in Fiji for the Grant.
  21. Hi everyone- my 143 was granted 16.2.15 from June 13- waiting time 20 months - hooray !
  22. You can't be considered a PR until you've validated your visa.

    Visa 143

The chances of the 143 being granted in 12m are nil according to current timelines so I wouldn't hedge bets on that. Instead, you have to try to get the timing right in order to only have to leave again for visa grant. i came over at the 11 month mark & am just about to leave for grant after being here 8 months for instance.
  24. Absolutely agree with QSS- none of their business- it's just some over- zealous officer getting carried away with it. This used to be my job- this person doesn't know their need-to-know boundaries!
