  1. Don't bother mate, phones are cheap enough here Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Sounds about right on those wages :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Oh and you don't get charged stamp duty if its below a certain purchase price :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. We are building in Baldivis now on 572sq.m. The total cost of land and build is $460k for a 4x2. If you are borrowing more than 90% then interest only may not be available depending on the lender. Amy questions just ask ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. 7 Weeks in and no regrets other than leaving family and friends. Finished work yesterday and went straight to the beach with some fellow poms, that is what i call living!
  6. Don't worry we had three brand new flat packed beds, a dining table and 10 chairs all new and unopened and were not questioned or charged anything. My advice is if you have space pack as much as you can to avoid buying at higher prices here.
  7. We got ours through NAB (it was just easier at the time) and they could see our UK NCD online, the insurance databases seem to be linked.
  8. It's not just what they pay AQIS, it also the time it takes for them to collect the container, unpack it into their storage and deliver to your door and put things into rooms of your choice........for us $440. We used Schepens (who use John Mason). We got all our boxes but some bedding is missing ???
  9. After a big 6 weeks, I love it all....................when I find something I don't like I'll let you all know !

    Boxing Day

Looks like it's going to be another 34c day here around Mandurah, WA so a trip to the beach at Rockingham I think for the kids to try out their new body boards !

    Sharks!

Sharks don't like pale skin and red hair, you'll be right !

    Sharks!

Latest research suggests safe distance from shore max 30m and max 5 metres depth, the $900k budget to try bubble curtains and strobe lighting sounds good. Not put off ocean swims, love the waves !
  13. Insurance is about the same as the UK so buy something small and you will pay a transfer charge and stamp duty (you get a bill a few weeks after buying).
  14. Anyone recommend a reasonable priced car hire company that will actually let you take the car from the airport rather than being transferred to their depot ??
  15. Thanks for that, now I feel REALLY old !! My first I think was Billy Joel's "Storm Front"
  16. Most companies will store but they take it back to their depot and put it in large wooden crates as the containers are leased as needed. There some cheaper self storage places that have containers in a yard though.
  17. Quite right Morena, I stand corrected, it does depend on your occupation
  18. I reckon: 1. Skills assessment through apporived body 2. Complete and send EOI 3. await invite 4. Complete IELTS 5. Submit application 6. Medicals and police check when the case officer requests them 7. WAIT !!!

I've just signed up for scanmypost.co.uk so my UK relatives don't have to deal with our post !
  20. We did all our outside stuff and tools with it but certainly wouldn't use it on inside stuff ! We did about 2 capfuls to 5 litres.
  21. We (me the wife and 3 kids under 10) are heading out to no jobs - all part of the big adventure !
  22. After 8 months of mega stress getting the house sale through we are finally able to get our plans together. We say goodbye to the house we built next Friday and from there we are not sure yet !! :ssign19::ssign19::ssign19::ssign19::ssign19::ssign19::ssign19::ssign19::ssign19:
  23. We just waited for the visa as didn't want to commit to selling the house etc until we knew it was certain ! 3 months, wow that's some notice period. Mine is 4 weeks but I hope that they will let me go after a week as I'm owed a weeks leave and am happy to not be paid for 2 weeks just so we can get gone, the house sale has dragged on for 7 months and stressed us to the hilt !
  24. I included cat food in the family food ! I do car servicing myself and take a wheel to the local tyre place when it needs replacing. MOT's at a garage I trust not to make stuff up that needs fixing (and they know I'd know !) Servicing contracts for household appliances is fools money, it isn't going to stop the things breaking down having some bloke come in and basically clean it. I just repair/pay for repairs/replace when necessary. Fixed the dishwasher in Feb, replaced a motor capacitor in the heat recovery ventilation system last month all thanks to Googling stuff and speaking to the right person for advice ! Saved myself hundreds !
  25. I would put her down as you have said with the explanation - unless anything else you put down looks like it needs checking I doubt they will contact her. I put 3 contacts down, one of which I didn't have her DoB either and none were contacted.
