Hey peeps, I'm Rob.. my partner and I arrived in sydney just over a month ago, starting to settle but struggling to meet new friends.My Partner Christian works in computers and is away some of the time. Im a hairdresser, I had my own business in the uk and am currently still looking for a job, was hoping to start on my own here. Just been so busy with the move and getting a house etc, time flies!! We are currently renting in Carlingford which is close to epping. (about 30 mins from the city) Ive recently jioned fitness first here, which is a great gym. Im 30 & christian is 36, we have 2 little jack russells and love going out to bars/pubs for a beer or wine or 10! Love good food too! If you fancy a drink sometime get in touch. Cheers Rob xx:cool:

alright buddy, we landed here on the 14th March from the UK. We are also staying in a Meriton, we are in the one in Zetland. Which one are you in? you have been busy.. I agree with everything you say, loving it so much apart from the rental market... It is MAD! the agents never call you back and if you get through they are so not interested in helping. I spoke to about 30 people and was getting really stressed at how lazy they were. I eventually got hold of a few properties to view and they were rotten and all done by an open house kind of thing so you were there viewing with other potential renters! We were looking at properties 4 bed's with a pool in the reigon of 800-900 per week. We did manage to find somewhere in Carlingford which is about 30 mins from CBD on the toll roads, got a gorgeous 4 bed massive place with the brit loving POOL LOL..... even bartered with the weekly rent, so hang in there and eventually you will find somewhere! we are going to go and apply for medicare tomorrow and try and find a car as our hire car runs out on saturday. if you fancy a beer one night then give us a shout, we are a couple, im 30 and my partner Christian is 36. Hiya, hows things? we arrive in sydney on 14th March, we are 30 & 36 gay couple... very fun and always up for a laugh and a drink or 10! Don't know where is sydney we will be living yet, got to be central coz of hubby's job (they are putting us in 4 weeks temporary acc) Love going out for some food and drinking good wine! my hubby will be working away a lot so need to get a good social group to keep me occupied. Hi there, we are moving from the Uk to Sydney and am quite confused over the container shipping insurance.... its quite expensive.. is it worth taking it out? not really bothered if the odd plate gets smashed, just worried if the container falls off the ship or something crazy like that... has anyone found a company that just pays out for things like this rather than listing everything individually and paying millions!

Hi there, I am using them, they are very competitive and the guy who came round was great, no crap jargon or sales pitch, just honest and friendly. I have had 4 people come round and the prices were just so different... I'd say Re-low deffo but they dont come here till 7/3/13 but at the moment i am very happy with them.

Hi guys, we are all set, house sold, one way tickets bought, dogs booked etc and now I'm starting to get anxoius. Trouble sleeping etc. I know it's a massive life change but feel so worried. Is this normal to feel like this? Anyone else been through the same? When does the worrying stop?

Hi dudes, who are the best & good value for money for a shipping company? Also we are selling our home in the uk, it's currently on the market but not due to move to sydney until mid march 2013. If we sell quickly we will move in with some friends. Is it possible to store your items in a container so as not to pack and unpack twice?
