Congratulations, she's absoloutely beautiful xx

Hi Aims, it has been my experience that employers will not consider your application until you have AHPRA registration. There is competition for child & family health nurse jobs & you may well have to consider moving to a rural area for work. Some states also want you to have a midwifery qualification (sorry can't remember offhand which ones).

Very helpful info Nikki, thank you.

Ahpra how to prove your degree is accredited?
bigmac replied to pinknurse83's topic in Careers and Vacancies
You're not wrong. AHPRA was by far the worst part of the whole process for me  -
Ahpra how to prove your degree is accredited?
bigmac replied to pinknurse83's topic in Careers and Vacancies
From what I can remember there was a link on AHPRA's webpage, the one on meeting the criteria & what the criteria are. The link was to a form that the NMC signed to say your course was accredited. Don't know if that's changed though. -
Can a UK Diploma trained nurse register with AHPRA?
bigmac replied to flipflop00's topic in Careers and Vacancies
I wish I could offer some hope Megs but unfortunately diploma nurses on this site have been having rego refused. I know this is very unfair & Australia are losing out on highly experienced nurses. I wish you luck & greatly sympathise with your situation especially since you have lost a job over this. Employers clearly see the positive contribution UK nurses can make. It's highly disappointing AHPRA see differently. -
Congratulations Toongirl that's brilliant news x

Hi Petal. I had an email at the beginning of March saying they'd received my application. Approx 4 weeks later I was asked to supply another verification from the NMC. At the end of April I emailed to ask if they'd received this & was told at this point that my application had been forwarded for assessment of my qualification. I didn't have any other correspondence until my email on 11 July saying my application was approved. Although I've 12 months to attend an AHPRA office to prove my identity, if it's more than 6 months I've to also supply further proof of my current nursing registration with the NMC. I have been lucky that I certainly didn't have to wait 9 months for an outcome x

I have been lucky enough to get the golden email today with my letter of eligibility from AHPRA. My background is having a BA Nursing Studies & BSc Hons Specialist Community Public Health Nursing. However, after 20+ years of nursing alongside colleagues who's training ranged from the old modular training through to masters level I am deeply saddened that highly trained, highly experienced, dedicated & intuitive nurses are not perceived to be 'good enough'. I will continue to support everyone on here & it's from the bottom of my heart that I hope you are all successful in knocking down & destroying the large barrier AHPRA have erected on your path to Oz xx

I'm really sorry to hear your news abbilouiseslatter. My thoughts are the same as the others though, that if it's your dream then you have to plough on & jump through this new hoop if it's nursing you want to continue with & not give up. I realise it is easier said than done though & I really hope you end up where you want to be.

Hi Hayley, Yep, we are all being driven crazy on here but at least we're all in it together. We've got PR as well & the house is up for sale. The college I did my nursing degree at no longer exists & my transcript only states pharmacology so the NMC sent some general EU directive. I've no idea if this will be enough evidence to cover criteria 8 & will just have to wait for the outcome. Personally I'm determined to go no matter what even if it means a career rethink.

Hi everyone, just to make you aware these are 2 tweets from AHPRA this morning in response to 2 questions DipHE is AQF level 6. IQNM Criterion 4 requires AQF7. Post reg nursing quals also considered. AQF info: bit.ly/1nDMGxh The local Board is meeting on a fortnightly basis for those IQNM applications that require a decision of the local Board

AHPRA and why UK Diploma Nurses shouldn't bother applying
bigmac replied to a topic in Careers and Vacancies
Someone on another forum has posted that their friend has had their registration turned down. The reason they were given is that they had a Diploma In Nursing!- 119 replies

bigmac replied to a topic in Careers and Vacancies
I can fully understand your frustration & annoyance but has anyone actually been refused registration or been given the condition of doing a bridging programme since the new criteria was introduced? Or is it still speculation that those with a diploma will be refused?- 119 replies

There doesn't seem to be any end to this, beginning to wonder if AHPRA themselves actually know what they're looking for in our qualifications :ssign1:

Well done & thanks for all the work you've done so far. It doesn't apply to me as I only applied at the end of Feb but perhaps those who applied before the changes will be assessed using the old framework.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I see they've also mentioned the board is meeting 'more frequently' due to the number of applications.
