  1. DOHA will only communicate with one authorised representative only. There is not much they can do. DOHA specifically state in writing that they will not respond to requests for processing updates or requests for priority processing. Yes, very typical. Yes, but they will replace your Agent as the authorised representative and your Agent will no longer be contacted by DOHA.
  2. You do not have 60 days after your visa expires. If your visa expires while you are in Australia you will become unlawful.
  3. This is not the case as it will depend on many factors.
  4. It depends on what visa you are applying for, the nature of the crime and the sentence imposed. No one size fits all answer I'm afraid.
  5. It depends on the specifics of the criminal record and how serious the matter was.
  6. $53,900 is the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) which is the minimum for all occupations. The salary must also meet Market Rate requirements, which is specific to the occupation. As such they would need to prove that $60K is the market rate that would be paid to a comparable Australian in the same occupation.
  7. Yes, the last one I did took 25 days from lodgement to grant.
  8. The shortage is not alleged, it is very real.
  9. Waiters are able to be sponsored in very limited circumstances under Labour Agreement provisions.
  10. You may want to read the declaration you agreed to as part of the visa application. This should give you some clarity.
  11. The subclass 457 no longer exists as it was replaced by the 482. I believe you are referring to a subclass 408 when you say a COVID-19 visa.
  12. Reading between the lines, it seem you were trying to apply with the high income age exemption for a subclass 186. If this is the case, an independent visa is unlikely. A professional assessment may be wise, as it is not possible to advise based on such minimal information. If you are already using an Agent, you should ask them for an assessment of option as they will have all of your information already.
  13. The truth is that the future direction of the Migration program is uncertain. We need to wait for A) the borders to re open and B) see what approach the Government takes. The reality is that there are many sectors that are struggling to find staff, despite the increased unemployment rate. The Migration program may be overhauled completely or may just become more targeted to specific occupations. Only time will tell.
  14. Generally true, but as with everything in Immigration, this is not always the case and there are exceptions. I have recently had a number of 186 applications processed in a couple of weeks. It all depends on the specific situation.
  15. It depends on whether you qualify for a 186 under the direct entry pathway. You should consider some professional advice because as a software engineer you have opportunity for very quick visa turnaround at the moment.
  16. Just some general information for you to consider: A 482 visa in the occupation of Construction Project Manager does not require a skills assessment, unless specifically requested by the case officer (which would be unusual); The occupation of Construction Project Manager (133111) is on the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL), which means you could gain an exemption to enter Australia on a subclass 482 visa. You do not need to wait for border restrictions to eases; The occupation of Construction Project Manager (133111) plans, organises, directs, controls and coordinates construction of civil engineering and building projects
  17. Unless the AAT process for the nomination can be expedited (can only be done in very specific circumstances) then appealing the nomination and waiting for two years is not really viable. Your sponsor should consider relodging a new nomination.
  18. It depends on your current visa status. The AAT for the nomination may take two years or more to process.
  19. The issue is that many people are now trying to be assessed in the occupation of Multimedia Specialist as it is on the Long Term occupation list. This occupation is classified as specialist a IT role and includes titles such as Electronic Game Developer and Multimedia Programmer. If your duties include marketing and web site management, you are unlikely to be successful under this occupation.
  20. Hard to advise based on the minimal information on your post. It depends on your specific situation and current visa status.
  21. The exemption for English with 5 years Education has not been accepted since November 2019. As English test must be done before application, you cannot fix it by doing an IELTS after lodgement of the visa. Some professional advice may be warranted.
  22. Realistically, it will be very difficult to predict what the Australian Migration Program will look like in the next two years or so. The Australian Migration Regulations are very dynamic and change regularly. It is likely that we will see extensive changes in response to COVID recovery in the future.
  23. Is this advice from a Registered Migration Agent or an Education Agent? Bear in mind that Education Agents are not legally allowed to provide Immigration advice.
