  1. I think that before we can discuss making friends in Oz we actually have to define what a friend is, are we talking about someone that will give you a kidney or some one that we happen to greet every day on the way to work
  2. Well what is missing from your experience that Vetassess requires? Is it not possible to work for an Airline (maybe like Qantas) that will require that you to be transferred to OZ and supply you with sponsorship?
  3. Its impressive that you are thinking so far ahead, for me I'm quite happy to die anywhere (so to speak) as long as my immediate family is near! I'm sure that you have heard this before, you have to give a place a minimum of 2 years before making a decision, any less time then that you haven't given it a fair go! We all go through a whole range of emotions when we emigrate ranging from hating a place to totally loving it at different times. It seems that there a specific times that Expats (Saffas at least) seem to leave, normally 2, 5, 8 years of living in a country other then their own. I think that people worry to much about whether they fit in or not, hell many of us don't "fit in" our countries of birth and may not "fit in" anywhere, just because we are not the norm. I personally plan on getting on with living to the fullest when I get to OZ and not worry about fitting in and if all my friends are Pommie and Saffa Expats so be it . I'm not going to try and be an Ozzie, because basically I can no longer be one nationality and I flatly refuse to downgrade my BBQing skills. Like wise I'm not going to put myself under pressure to settle if it happens great if not we will start learning another European language maybe French, Spanish or Kiwi.

  15. <p>Hey Bud remember a watched pot never boils! I have been checking mine twice a day for the last 2 weeks and it still says awaiting assessment what a bummer!</p>

  16. <p>We did 6 weeks in OZ in 2006, 5 weeks on the East coast and a week in Perth. I loved it then. Life style, weather and scenery is great, its the thought of starting again that is a bit daunting. How did you find the transition?</p>

  17. <p>Hi Wendy, not going anywhere at the moment. I'm not 100% sure yet about Oz yet. The process seems to be getting more and more difficult as time goes on! It is as if I'm being told that its not the right decision. In South Africa every time I had doubts about moving to the UK, I would get a nudge to move me in the right direction, it was all to easy, my visa only took one week from submission LOL! Anyway enough whining! Where are you in Perth? My Sis lives in Two Rocks and I have a cousin + Uncle that lives thereabouts too!</p>

  18. <p>Ok I thought you might have Billies and Droewors !</p>

  19. <p>"Donnington"(very quitely) actually there are least 2 or 3 other people from Telford on PIO, it starting to sound like there is a mass exodus LOL</p>

  20. <p>Why what have you got to hide??? LOL</p>

  21. You need to give it a few years 3 or 4 before you can say you have made a go of it. Every one gets homesick. Even after 8 years in the UK with this a cold winter I'm feeling pretty homesick for Africa! Give it time don't make any rash decissions just yet! It will get better after you have made a few friends. Expat friends are especially important as they understand what you are going through, go and find some :')

<p>Hi Gina, Hell I find a 225k a bit dear, that is worth more than my house here in the UK!! Land is definately cheaper on the east coast, strange but true just check out the real estate websites. </p>
