  1. I have a VPN so I watched it on the ITV Player. I am sure at some stage it will be on TV here. It was an excellent documentary so I do hope it will be shown here.
  2. My daughter (now 18) tried when she was 16 and she still suffers from anxiety but is medicated, receiving counselling and is dealing with life much better. There are lots of organisations that can help, if you are struggling please reach out. Everyone is loved by someone and there is help there.
  3. Pork pie and piccalilli = heaven
  4. Have absolutely nothing, not sure what the ex has. He pays all the bills and stuff so I dare say he has money left over every month. Will be glad when I am divorced and I can take my share of the cash although it's not a lot.
  5. I spent 4 years living in Canada, a place that still holds a piece of my heart. We didn't pursue PR, which we could have done and ex-husband lost his job and we had to return to the UK. I was destroyed by that move and swore that I would never be in that position again. When we could go for PR here we did and citizenship was the next logical step. I'm a proud citizen of this country. I can't recall if you have children but if you do I think if that child is an Australian citizen then you would be daft not to have it. Just my two penneth.
  6. One of my favourite places in the world. We spent a week in Port Logan back in July 2010, we didn't know about this place as we would have visited. We rented an old converted byre overlooking Port Logan Bay. Weather was pants the whole week but we didn't care. It's a quiet, magical little hidden gem of a place.
  7. We did a week a long time ago but we started in Edinburgh and finished in Glasgow. We did a loop up to Inverness, Fort William and then down via Oban to Loch Lomond and onwards to Glasgow. Other than the crappy weather it was one of the best holidays. Great scenery, great food (and whiskey) and very friendly people.
  8. I like Woodvale too and being the eastern side of the Mitchell Freeway makes a suburb instantly cheaper than one on the western side. I live in Connolly and it's a great little suburb and many people forget it even exists.
  9. Surely having extra tutoring outside of school is going to exacerbate the situation in school, ie. make him more bored. I agree with the comment elsewhere, wait till high school and his needs will be far better catered for if he is capable of extension. Hopefully you have thought carefully about where you will be sending him to HS.
  10. Apologies for the no show. I meant to message Kate but get forgetting. I had forgotten that my youngest had a singing gig that day. Sounds like a good time was had by all.
  11. Many people who frequent this part of the forum were members when planning their moves to Australia too. You left Australia 8 years ago, why on earth join a forum like this now, just seems odd.
  12. Can I ask why if you moved back to the UK and are happy did you join a PIO forum just a month ago?
  13. If there were annual awards on this forum this thread would be a contender for the strangest started by a newbie!!
  14. OK, I get it now. Basically the same as an August baby in the UK. You can tell I am ready for the end of the school holidays!!!!
  15. I'm trying to understand how they are so different. My daughter is the oldest in her cohort here in WA and is about to start year 8. The cut off is 30th June here. By the time she starts year 11 she will be 16 years and 7 months. Do they really start school school a year earlier in NSW that would make a NSW year 11 almost a full year younger.
  16. Not sure where you are heading but if you were coming to WA your daughter would be in year 9 this year so you have a little bit of time before it becomes a concern. 11/12 are the most important years but IMO year 10 is just as important as performance during this year is used by the schools as to whether they allow kids to study certain subjects in years 11/12. Don't do well in year 10 and they may not be able to study a certain subject at a certain level in 11/12. Private schools are particularly bad for this. If you are going to come come this year, if you can't then I would be seriously reconsidering my options.
  17. Curtin is the only place that does a direct entry midwifery degree.
  18. I believe so. As long as you are on a temp visa there is no requirement to get a local licence.
  19. Exactly how I felt. Enjoyed the trip for the most part but couldn't wait to get 'home' to Perth.
  20. I can't speak for the sunshine coast as I haven't been there but as a parent I certainly couldn't manage here without being able to get around in the car. When it's hot it's bloody hot and when it rains it bloody rains.
  21. Was gutted as none of my friends wanted to go and I didn't feel comfortable going alone. He got great reviews.
  22. My home City of Lancaster was hit badly a few weeks ago and the rivers are rising again. In my village outside of Lancaster the rain fell so quickly it all ran off the local crag and flooded many homes in the Main Street. I have never seen it so bad. Thinking of all my friends and family, it's awful. But hey, bet the weathers nice in Stratford
  23. Prayers and much love to you all xxx
