  1. The fields between Peterborough and Huntingdon are full of the stuff and the drive to work used to be hell.
  2. Less colds and no hayfever. I lived on the edge of the Fens where the rape used to drive my nostrils mad!! I obviously don't react to anything here. Weight gain due to drinking and socialising more.
  3. Kendal has had it pretty bad but I think Levens is far enough away from the river to be OK. However looking at the map after I posted that it might be worth a quick message to them to check they are OK as depending on where they are in the village they could be close to some water.
  4. I have never seen the Lune so high. Some of the photos I have seen from family members have been unreal.
  5. My home city of Lancaster has been badly affected, my SIL lives in a small village outside of the City that has been totally cut off. Hope everyone stays safe.
  6. I enjoyed meeting the people I did at the meet in the City. Everyone was lovely and I was pleased I met you
  7. I'd quite like to say hello too if you fancy.
  8. Didn't know you were in Perth. Hope you enjoyed.
  9. No I haven't but I know people who have.
  10. Great area, great schools but I would warn very cliquey if you aren't cut from the same cloth.
  11. Mine is the same and I have given up stressing about it. I have 2 kids and 2 dogs so it's never going to be spotless.
  12. We ate toast for tea all the time and turned the heating off. It's the only way we could afford to keep up our mortgage payments.
  13. Sadly you only have 2 choices. 1. Pay out the contract 2. Skip the country and don't pay.
  14. Although it's a while ago I came 4 months after main applicant and there was no issue.
  15. I'm happy to go. Nice to see Kate and of course the very easy on the eye John
  16. More people die from skin cancer in the UK I believe. Yes there are far more cases in Australia but I think as a nation we are generally much more sun smart than British people.
  17. I can see where you're coming from but as a busy Mum I seriously don't know how people find time to do family stuff in the week. Our weekdays consist of after school activities, homework, cooking and having tea and then showers and bed.
  18. I'm of the differing view that I would want my child to start with all other new kids on day 1. Start a few weeks in and potentially, depending on child of course, would feel far more self conscious.
  19. The admin staff at schools in WA usually go back a week or so before the kids for this very reason. I would imagine the schools nationwide would be similar.
  20. Even a move within the same country can be stressful. At 18 I moved from small village Lancashire to London. Hardest move I ever made and I have lived overseas in 3 different countries including Australia.
  21. Depends on what sort of child you have too. I sent my eldest to a middle tier private school. She hated it and I ended up having to move her half way through year 10 to a seriously mediocre state school. However, she has just graduated year 12 with the award for academic excellence. Go and take a look around the schools, go with your gut feeling and listen to your child about their feelings.
  22. Aside from the economic aspect I still don't get it. I go out and am social after 7.27pm irrespective of whether the sun is in the sky for an extra hour. Nothing that paragraph says would sway me to vote yes if I was on the fence.
