I'm going to hang about the North Island for most of my NZ trip - I don't want to go too far in case there's an issue! Hopefully it should be trouble free. The case officer reckons that I only need one day.
My migration solicitor reckons I could do the "Auckland Shuffle" - fly in, get it evidenced, fly out!!
Perhaps it varies between offices...
The North Island is pretty fun - I was there a few months back! Enjoy!

I've also been told some specific requirements about getting out of the country:
- They recommend at least 5 days in case of any issues - problems at the DIAC office etc.
- You need to give the case officer the dates that you are away
- They put the dates in the diary and check the immigration passport computer to see that you have left the country
- The grant the visa
- You can then come back - you don't actually have to get a label from an embassy due to "Australia's modern electronic visa system"
Might be useful info for the other 121s (fluffy and calvinated).
I'm going to Auckland on 03/10. 04/10 is a public holiday in Oz so I've asked for the grant to happen on 05/10 and I'll go to the consulate in Auckland on 06/10 to get a label.
You got some plans to go abroad?
Thanks for the info hybrid.
Happy that things are moving for at least some people!
Congrats to you and Solinsyd.
Fluffy & Richkoto- i hope you guys get yours soon. Will keep my fingers crossed for all of us! My 457 runs out in less than 2 months

Mine went to Perth on 13/08 too. I didn't get an email - I only found out when I called on 07/09. The case officer contacted my agent on 10/09 asking for the last bit of paperwork.
Anecdotally, it looks like Melbourne is fast, with a huge random factor thrown in!

Quick question, if i put in my nomination and full application together the 5-7 months processing time isn't from when the nomination is granted is it. I'm sure my MA said that it's from when the application is submitted but just checking.
