Just give us a visa or our money back.....Simple

Hairdressers removed from list and now hubbys occupation being added to SOL & some SMP lists, How frustrating is all of this.

Hi scissor Sister do you know hairdressing is back on list in WA we r in cat 3 now. x

Is there a new thread for Cat 5's who have moved up to Cat 3' after the WA changes to their SMP?

Someone once started one but never up dated it, I think no one has done one because with in a month or 2 they already have their visa so was pointless, as quick as they joined was just as quick they got their visa, this is how quick they work through cat 3.

I am confused, if we have moved up to Cat 3 shall we contact DIAC and let them know because the WA list as been out a couple of weeks and nothing has been heard, I know 2 weeks is not long but after 152 weeks I think 2 weeks is do able lol

I know how you feel, July 1st is the day my husbands occupation was put back on the list so you can imagine how desperate I was since waiting nearly 3 years, I emailed my agent and he said he would follow up for me, I don't think he did any after waiting 9 weeks I finally got a CO  You could phone them or if your with an agent get them to or send a PLE.

We will call them tonight, we did it ourselves back in 2008 submited our own TRA and Visa app as agents said we was not eligable so much for there knowledge ... we found it very easy throughout the application process and thankfully saved a massive amount by not going via an agent.

Below is my workmate's grant letter for his 885. He was in Cat 5. Although the email didnt say it but he applied as an ICT recent graduate so if that doesnt put you in cat 5 then we all should not be. He is applying for ACS reassessment and still have not got the result letter. In fact he is trying to cancel the reassessment to get the money back right now. Im posting it up to prove to you guys that im not making up as people saying. Im in cat 5 as well and i am waiting for my acs reassessment. Hope we all get our PR soon

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mr

I refer to your application for a Skilled - Independent (VB 885) visa lodged on 04 December 2008 with the department.

I am pleased to advise that on 08 September 2011 a decision was taken to grant this visa.

This letter contains important information about this visa.

EVIDENCE OF YOUR VISA

It is recommended that the visa holder obtain evidence of this visa in their current passport. This can be done at any local DIAC office. DIAC office addresses can be found at www.immi.gov.au/contacts

PASSPORT DETAILS

The granted visas are linked to the passport numbers that were provided as part of the application. If any person obtains a new passport after receiving this letter and before the visa is evidenced, they will need to contact the nearest Immigration office in Australia or overseas to advise the department of their new passport details.

When travelling into or out of Australia visa holders should ensure that they carry their current passport and the passport containing their valid visa. Visa holders unable to present evidence of their current visa when travelling may experience significant delays at the airport and may be denied permission to travel back to Australia.

For further information about the required documentary evidence for travel to Australia please refer to

http://www.immi.gov.au/media/fact-sh...5documents.htm

VISA VALIDITY

This visa allows you to enter and leave Australia as many times as you like until the visa expiry date.

LEAVING AND RETURNING TO AUSTRALIA

If you want to travel overseas and return to Australia after the visa expiry date, and you are not an Australian citizen, you will need to have a current Resident Return Visa (RRV). It is your responsibility to obtain a RRV. You must meet specific criteria for grant of a RRV. The criteria are designed to ensure that only permanent residents who have shown a genuine commitment to Australia by either residing in Australia or otherwise making a sound contribution to Australia may be eligible for a RRV. More information on RRVs can be found at www.immi.gov.au/migrants > Returning Residents

WORKING IN AUSTRALIA

This visa entitles you to work in Australia. However, you are reminded that the grant of this visa provides no guarantee of employment in Australia, nor does acceptance of qualifications for migration purposes. Employment opportunities in some occupations are limited. Registration and licensing requirements for particular occupations vary between states and territories and may be amended from time to time.

CENTRELINK PAYMENTS

I would like to remind you of the importance of making adequate financial arrangements as support while looking for work.

You must wait two (2) years before you can receive most Centrelink income support payments. Centrelink is the government organisation that makes social security payments. "Income support" is government welfare assistance that is enough to live on. The payments with a waiting period include unemployment and sickness benefits, income support payments for students and a number of other payments.

Special Benefit is the only form of government welfare assistance which might be payable during the two (2) year waiting period. However, Special Benefit is only available on a very restricted basis - that is, if there has been a substantial change in circumstances beyond the person's control. Inability to find employment or running out of money are not sufficient reasons to qualify for Special Benefit.

Information on the waiting period is included in Form 994i - Settlement information for migrants to Australia can be downloaded from www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/994i.pdf. Further information is available on the Internet at the following sites:

SETTLEMENT INFORMATION

Form 886 - Settlement assistance information can be downloaded from www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/886.pdf. I would be grateful if you could complete this form and return it to the address listed below. The information requested in this form is collected to assist in planning better services such as health and education.

you said in a previous post that you and your mate both applied in 2010, but in the grant letter your mate applied Dec 2008, plus how come DIAC didnt ask him to do the Meds again as it should expired after 1 year. I wish that they start processing Cat 5 as I m one one of them....thank you for the effort any way.

I actually thought he applied 2 months after me but it wasnt the case. I only found that out after seeing it in the grant email. They didnt ask him for anything. It was out of nowhere he got his PR. He told me that start of this year he was going to prepare new application under the new point system but he found out the acs reassessment so he put that on hold. He then uploaded the new police check that he got and that was all he did. Maybe we should call up dimia to question this...

Dear Tania

I think after having three years of immigration experience you can apply for the MARA license and become an immigration agent (successful one) once you land in OZ:idea:

Interesting! Could be true... They progress chart on the Immi.gov.au site is pretty up to date. The only real backlog apart from us Cat 5 is Cat 4 and they are already officially up to Dec 2010. I have seen CO allocations for Jan/Feb 2011 on PomsInOz. They might start allocating some old Cat 5's to case officers soon, if they have not already secretly 'took a sneak preview'. Come on DIAC - Let this endless Limbo Live end soon for all us Cat 5's. (my car is on its last legs ;o)

Well,

I do not still believe they have started processing category 5 applicants. But If this is true( which I do not beleive) then I will be the saddest and very annoyed person because they should start processing with my visa first.

Well, this will be cleared once they come up with new dates of processing on 23 Sep 2011.

I am sorry but this does not prove any thing, the bit I highlighted in purple we have that type of visa in cat 4 also it doesn't say what his occupation is so I am afraid that others will still question this, we appreciate that you are providing us with information, this could be one of 2 things it was in the wrong pile and he slipped through the net as we know that they are not looking at cat 5 yet, his occupation is not in cat 5 in the first place, you said in a previous post that you and your mate both applied in 2010, but in the grant letter your mate applied Dec 2008, plus how come DIAC didnt ask him to do the Meds again as it should expired after 1 year.

ps sorry the blue bit was someone else comment.

also I found this on another forum maybe this could explain it

2231-79 Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate) and the new priority

According to the new priority, IT graduates who have already applied under the occupation 2231-79 Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate) will fall into category 4?

This is very illogical because for new applicants, they can now apply as one of the ICT occupations on the new SOL (eg. Developer Programmer or Software Engineer) instead of being grouped together as Computing Professional (ICT Recent Graduate), which is no longer on the SOL.

Would this mean that new ICT Graduates who apply under the new rule will fall into category 3 but ICT Graduates that already applied under the old rule will fall into category 4?

So, given two people with the same qualification from the same university who finished at different time, the one who finished later and applied using the new rule will get the application processed before the one who finished earlier and applied using old rule?

Does anyone know if there is a work around to this problem or if they are attempting to fix this problem? This is because there seems to be no way out. You can't change the occupation and get new assessment. Also, for graduates who have been graduated for over 6 months can't even make a new application even though you can be assessed as one of the ICT occupations in the new SOL.
