I forgot to add for those wondering about the police check/medical exam validity if you have done this before you sent in your application - I have done my UK police check beforehand and this was issued on 5 Jan 2015. The immigration office appears to have extended the date I need to first enter by to 5 April 2016, so extended by 3 months.

 

It doesn't really matter for me as we are leaving on 18 December but I thought it might be helpful to some of you.

tracy8099, Thank you. I was wondering how the list/queue was panning out. This is like waiting for something after you've handed over the dosh and it suddenly goes dark, it's pitch black, they've switched the lights off & I'm not quite sure how it all works. If it wasn't for this forum I'd be panicking that I'd sent the money accidentally to the milkman and not the consulate. We have got an 'application received' & I am sure the little munchkins are beavering their way through the applications, as I note a '7 mth processing time' *not eager*. We submitted 309/100 15/10/15, not allocated a CO as yet. Safe and happy travels to those that have got to the green light. Fab.

People need to ignore the timeframe given on the main Gov website I'm afraid. That timeframe of 5 months ended about 4-5 years ago. Since then its only gotten longer and times have not been updated there. Ideal world and all that the info would be current but they are not.

 

 

 

For anyone considering applying for an off shore partner visa in the UK they should refer to the Aus High Commission London website

They list the current wait times as (what most are currently working out from) 10-14 months. Grants can often happen a bit sooner than the 10 month mark but this is not a given and people should work to the actual timeframe given not expect it sooner. If it does then get granted sooner, fab bonus, if not, they are not fretting or feeling let down its not yet been granted

I"ve removed the first name. CO initials only.

 

I'd say check the visa list on here and see which CO has an initial that matches up. I think I know who your CO is based on the letter of the first name. The list should show it.

When I applied it was 8-9 months and mine came in at 7 months. Others still waited the 8-9. Soon after it increased to 9-12 and then in the past 12-18 months or so it has jumped to 10-14 months. There is no way of knowing exactly when a visa will be granted and trying to second guess can drive you a bit bonkers

 

If any grant comes in a bit sooner, great but you can't be let down if you work to the time frame you were given is how I look at it. If one person was told 9-12, they work to that, if you were told 10-14, you work to that

I have a feeling it's going to jump to 12-16 months next year as it's taking a lot longer to just get a CO assigned than it was at the beginning of this year. I think the increase in fees has created a backlog plus with everything going on in the world they are going to be extra meticulous (for all visas) which will take a lot longer.

Don't hold your breath for one either. Someone told me theirs took 4 months. It's been 3 since I applied. Looks like a long wait ahead for all of us.

 

I feel for people who are separated while they are waiting. I'm thankful that I can get on with the same things I've been doing for the last 10 years. It's just like looking forward to christmas tho - very exciting waiting for the visa so we can finally start planning to change our lives.

Yeah it's not a great situation to be in when we can't be with our partners, last time I was with my hubby was July and I won't be with him until March next year and that will be only for 2 weeks but the end out come of getting the visa granted will all be worth it in the long run, just hard that it's such a long wait for us all. tracy8099, Thank you. I was wondering how the list/queue was panning out. This is like waiting for something after you've handed over the dosh and it suddenly goes dark, it's pitch black, they've switched the lights off & I'm not quite sure how it all works. If it wasn't for this forum I'd be panicking that I'd sent the money accidentally to the milkman and not the consulate. We have got an 'application received' & I am sure the little munchkins are beavering their way through the applications, as I note a '7 mth processing time' *not eager*. We submitted 309/100 15/10/15, not allocated a CO as yet. Safe and happy travels to those that have got to the green light. Fab.

 

People need to ignore the timeframe given on the main Gov website I'm afraid. That timeframe of 5 months ended about 4-5 years ago. Since then its only gotten longer and times have not been updated there. Ideal world and all that the info would be current but they are not.

 

 

 

For anyone considering applying for an off shore partner visa in the UK they should refer to the Aus High Commission London website

As some may know, we are already in Canberra on my 457 visa, but I got my Depart for Grant letter yesterday. So that is seven months, three weeks and four days. They didn't say whether I've got the 100 though. I'll ask that when I reply with my date for re-entry. It'll probably be January before I get to New Zealand though.

Wel done @tracy8099 for the table, heres hoping its getting a bit quicker but seems to depend on CO.. and who knows hat else, fab new for the rest of you getting grants this week @gazdad @CameronsDad exciting to stop watching emails @Jen44 I applied Christmas eve 2014 adn was advised 10-14 months .. but the fees were taking a hike from 1st January so I think a lot of people applied and there may have been a drop in applications for a little while hence some getting quicker grants now... but with application fees increasing again and again... who knows. Good luck to all waiting, nice feeling when it comes in
