Yes it’s a gap, not intentional, it was a mistake in the cutting.

It will be fixed when we do the next stage, can’t be bothered getting all the tools out for that little bit.

We will be working on the gazebo soon and hope to get it done by Christmas.

These are the monster uprights and they are very, very heavy. We have to work out how to lift them into place over the stirrups without killing ourselves.

If anyone has any ideas we would be all ears.

Looks absolutely stunning. We had a pool put in at our old house (over 10 years ago now) and it was an absolute nightmare. They completely trashed the back yard, told us they went over on costs and didn't put anything in to allow the pool to be drained. It was a cartridge filter and was dreadful. There was a waste outlet pipe but they hadn't put it in the right way around and it wasn't connected to anything. In heavy rain we had to get a piece of hose pipe out and syphon it with our mouths. With tiling the whole thing cost over $35,000 and we've NEVER forgotten it.

Yours looks perfect. I take it from the pool truck phone number you're around the Bundaberg area. We've been in Hervey Bay (apart from a couple of other places) for 17 years now and think of the Wide Bay as paradise!

Oh Bob, that sounds like a nightmare. Yes we are in Bundy, we used to live in Hervey Bay for a couple of years and you are absolutely right, paradise on earth.

Our pool builders came highly recommended and they have more than lived up to their reputation. We love our pool and have found it very easy to look after.

we have been working hard on the gazebo for the past few weeks and it’s coming on nicely.  It’s just been the two of us doing it and at times we would have been glad if some help but we ploughed on and are now over the worst.

This is the recent progress

We have some friends here who are looking at the Sunshine Coast etc.

What is Hervey Bay and Bundy like? Any particular bits to avoid?

Work / schools etc.  Early 40s, young at heart couple with a 8 or 9 yr old.
He is a tradesman and she admin / pa

The work you are doing looks great by the way 👍

Thanks @Wa7

Hervey Bay is a very beautiful area, stunning beaches sheltered by the lovely Fraser Island so very safe for swimming or fishing. Also it is a growing town so lots of building work taking place so possible work for a tradie.

if you are used to a big city then you may be a bit surprised at how laid back it is in HB. If you are wanting to eat out for instance, then make sure you get out early as most places are closed by 9pm.

We absolutely loved living in the Bay but work brought us to Bundy and I have to say as beautiful as Hervey Bay is, Bundy is the best place for us.  You can easily purchase a place on anchorage and still be very close to town. We are about 30mins from the beaches of Bargara and 5 minutes from the river which is great for boating and ten minutes to the shops.

Possibly more work available in Bundaberg. Just enough shops to buy most things you need. Not much in the way of public transport though so you need to drive everywhere. Having said that, all parking is free. Roads are wide and traffic is light so driving is not a chore.

We have the best weather. Every day is sunny and warm, even in the winter, though it can get a bit cool at night time in the winter months

Only other thing to think about is medical treatment. Some specialist services are only available privately or you may have to travel to Brisbane, however both places have fairly large hospitals, both private and public so most things are catered for locally.

To sum up, if you can find work here it’s a great place to live, finding a job is key.
