Australian Imam explains it perfectly.

There is a truth between the two arguments. The Christian religion was also a religion of war. It was also spread in a similar way. That is what religions are.

The current situation is a little more in line with the guy on the left.

But there is truth in what you say simmo. There is a need for a progressive Islam in western society. If you can help bring that about then that would be a great thing.

But that has nothing to do with the extreme fringe. In is Christianity you have the far right, so you will in Islam. That doesn't go away by moving the main to the center.

They are two distinct though related issues.

It is telling that all the fatal terrorist incidents in Australia have been conducted by refugees or the children of refugees.

Shows the lie of this idea of be nice to them and they will be nice to you.

We took them in and they perpetrate violence on us in return.

Yes there is certainly something reassuring about Australia's stance on asylum seekers.

We have now had all the hash tag supports, the social media support and hugging,  the we stand together and we love Manchester statements, the vigils, flower and teddy bears being laid at the scene,  the usual platitudes expressed on TV and Press outlets, the " we have done what we need to do because the world is run by social media" . It has been sorted!

And now this week the world moves on again, until the next time when it has to go through the same motions again to "show how we care"

But the families of the victims wake up Monday morning carrying all the pain of lost loved ones, they families get left behind to burden the pain for life, as the do-gooders and lefties once again get back on their campaigns to force on the world their leftist policies and continue to force on the world the endless movement of unchecked economic migrants, many of them haters of the western world that they move into.

So you think we should go soft on criminals just because they don't fit your category of 'terrorism'.

..........  and that Norwegian nutjob who murdered 77 people in 2011.  He wasn't a terrorist either - he was insane.

Did he suggest "go soft"?

No word on the Portland (OR) nut job that cut the throats of two men over there that came to the aid of two Muslim women who were being abused. A third wounded. Very selective indeed in your feigned horror of attacks on innocents.

The islamic jihad goes on

Quote

Extremists allied with Islamic State are believed to have executed Filipinos in a besieged southern city of the Philippines because they could not recite Islamic prayers, as the death toll from six days of fighting rose to 100, with dozens wounded.

Nothing to do with islam

Why would there be, other than to try to deflect attention from the mass murder of women and children in Manchester.

That's all you need to know.

Nope, you probably need to know this

Regaling Andrew Bolt with the horrors awaiting non-Muslim Australians under this Caliphate, Tawhidi claimed that tax evaders will be beheaded: "they put his head in a pot, they eat it, then they rape his wife that same night." Bolt was visibly delighted when Tawhidi declared that Sahih al-Bukhari, the most sacred Sunni text after the Qur'an, must be banned. The formula was clearly a winner: Tawhidi returned to Bolt's program the following week, this time lending support to Ayaan Hirsi Ali's crusade to see all Islamic schools forcibly closed.

If the unusualness of a Muslim cleric aligning himself with Bolt and Hirsi Ali should provoke a close inspection of Tawhidi's credentials as a religious leader, either none is being undertaken or the spectacle of man dressed up as a cleric delivering epithets more at home at a white nationalist rally is proving simply too good to resist.

The name of Tawhidi's organisation - the Islamic Association of South Australia - should be an immediate indication that something is not quite right: its resemblance to the real peak representative body for South Australian Muslims - the Islamic Society of South Australia - could be seen as a ploy to derive legitimacy through mistaken identity. Deliberate or not, the Rotary Club of Adelaide was certainly taken in by it, proclaiming him to be the South Australian Muslim community's "top man."

Tawhidi is not recognised as an Imam or Sheikh by either the Australian National Imams Council or its South Australian equivalent, nor is he affiliated with any Australian mosque or prayer centre. The only religious instruction he offers is a self-described "university standard" Islamic Studies class delivered from a rented classroom at the University of South Australia. Course content posted online includes rambling refutations of the Big Bang and the theory of human evolution. A video he has shared on social media depicting a sparrow repeatedly fluttering against another sparrow gives a taste of his views on the latter. The caption reads: "Watch how this bird performs CPR on another bird, something we humans won't learn without an educational training course; so who taught that bird?"

exactly!! this is proof that moderate progressive islam is impossible.  Islam by its own definition in the koran unreformable, its is the unaltered words of Allah.  Isis are pure muslims, this fake sheik is an imposter yes.. he is fake because he questions islam.  Hirsi Ali also questioned islam and now like all apostates she must live a life under threat of redemption.

Which is why ayatollah khomeini redefined what it means in the eighties.

I'm sure if you talked with the pope about progression and said, first thing we need to do is burn that book, you would be shown the door.

This is interesting religious conflict. Same as proddy on Catholic. If you ask Catholics to progress they may well do. If you ask them to become Protestant, well, good luck with that one.

Personally I think the easiest way to progress is to increase the Muslim population in the media. Get people talking. Put the discussion out there. Then we can see what is reasonable and what is not. But it needs to come from both sides.
