Some good news! My MA emailed me yesterday to say that Immigration have opened my file and now want a new Police check as the other has expired! I'm not even mad about having to do another Police Check, just to know they have actually opened my file is good enough for now. I have just sent off for the Police Check and its usually a pretty fast process, so fingers crossed I am almost there! Good luck to all.

Congrats! You're almost there! Do you know if they do this with all police checks? My partner and I had to provide police checks from countries we lived in for the past 10 years, which are Spain and Italy, but we have not lived there since we moved to OZ, so to me It would make no sense to ask for new police checks from those countries. It is really hard to get them.

My MA informed me that they wont ask for Police Check again for my Country of residence and exactly for the reason you mentioned that we don't live there anymore so its pointless asking. Obviously they can ask for whatever they like but in my case they have not asked. Best of luck to you both.

Hello,

I'm a marketing specialist who applied in March 2017 through a migration agent with the TRT 186 on shore.

its been about eleven months now and my agent said he'd follow up with immigration.

This is fine as there is no rush but I'm going abroad in May and will need to apply for a bridging visa to leave and come back as my 457 visa has now expired.

I've got a feeling the agent is going to try and charge me around $500 including the immigration fee for him to lodge this bridging visa and frankly I don't want to spend any more money.

How straight forward is this to do myself? I have the login details for my account on the immigration website and it looks fine but I don't want to be pissing about with it and cause any problems.

Any advice?

Cheers

Hi Guys,

We have applied for 457 Visa 4 years ago and they asked us an Italian police check.
On May last year, before we applied for 186 they ask us a new Italian police check because they said that the previous one was expired.
I didn't understand the reasons because, like you guys said, we haven't been in Italy for more than 4 years. The current one will expired on the 9th of May. I hope they will not ask a new one.??

Hey, I sent my email on Thursday 15th feb - so around 2-3 working days

Thanks for that, did you get any auto-response email immediately after you sent the email?

because I sent an email last week and got the auto-response email immediately, I am wondering if they are going to reply me again or not.

my partner and I are pretty much in the same situation, applied in April 2017, TRT186 on shore, marketing specialist.

I'm going overseas in May and I need a BVB as well. My MA would charge 300 + fee. I think this visa is pretty straight forward to get and we don't need to pay  a MA but I understand your concern. I am seriously thinking to stay in AU until I get some news about at least the nomination. What if the nomination is refused for any reasons and we are abroad ??BVB remains valid to get back in AU??
