Hello,

I'm a marketing specialist who applied in March 2017 through a migration agent with the TRT 186 on shore.

its been about eleven months now and my agent said he'd follow up with immigration.

This is fine as there is no rush but I'm going abroad in May and will need to apply for a bridging visa to leave and come back as my 457 visa has now expired.

I've got a feeling the agent is going to try and charge me around $500 including the immigration fee for him to lodge this bridging visa and frankly I don't want to spend any more money.

How straight forward is this to do myself? I have the login details for my account on the immigration website and it looks fine but I don't want to be pissing about with it and cause any problems.

Any advice?

Cheers

That's crazy! My MA did mine for free! I just had to pay the fee to Immigration $145! I don't know how straight forward it is but give it a shot and save yourself $500! There is nothing you don't know about yourself or situation that a Migration agent will. I think $500 is really unfair!

I'm not sure what the situation is on the cost exactly but a colleague of mine told me that the same company charged her for her bridging visa when she needed it for 457. They shouldn't charge  as it seems pretty straight forward but I got a feeling they will try even though they get a lot of business form our company . Hopefully the visa will be granted by then but I have a feeling it won't.

From the phone called I had with the migration agent your visa will not be granted or declined when you are outside the country on a bridging . I'm not an expert though but this is gist I got from the conversation I had with him.

Definitely seems a problem with certain job types. ( Chefs, cooks , marketing specialists etc)

They seem not be granting these types of visas. Think they are having a major clamp down as I think there has been a lot of abuse with these types in the past.\

Probably the reason they are adding caveats?

Cheers
Matt

I can see why for cooks and chefs as that has definitely been abused when I worked in the industry many years ago.. but Im not sure on the marketing specialist one (I'm a marketing specialist ha)?..where did you get that from? or was it just a feeling you get based on the caveats?

And even if they have 'clamped down on them', they can't just leave them at the back forever. If they were that concerned they would just remove them for the lists surely? They have had plenty of chances too.

I think there's a high number of applications for Marketing specialist. That's why, some people are waiting since June 2016...????

More likely than clamping down I agree mate. Clamping down on a rogue employers is one thing but not on occupations generally.

Wish I knew how they allocated jobs to their CO's haha. So annoying!

I don't know for certain, I'm just guessing like everyone else.

A lot of these types of jobs could be filled by Australian's though I'm guessing and this is the Liberals big thing right now? (Letting Australian's know that they are protecting Australian jobs)

Has anyone at all had a positive outcome from calling immigration?

Cheers

Yeah I get that but you would think that strong public policy in this area as opposed to manipulation of processing times would be a better, more visible look to there supporters!

Does anybody know of any marketing specialists that have been approved this year out of interest?

I haven't heard any marketing specialist approvals  over the last 6/8 months.

I know friends who had applied in Dec 2016 and got the visa in Jun 2017 as marketing specialist

other friends who applied in May and June 2017 as MS are all waiting

I think a realistic timeline for MS is no less than 12 months.

But I m just guessing

There were two mentioned in this forum, friends of another poster, who were fron March 2017 and got approved maybe in Jan. Apart from that agreed - nothing.

To be honest not many occupations in general are getting approved unless its ICT!

Hi,

i am also applying on a ms 186 visa. Application lodged March last year and still no decision.

have been asked three times now for additional documents regarding nomination, which is so annoying because of the 28 day que.

does anyone know once nomination has been approved how long it takes for the visa component to be approved ?

i have read quite far back but couldn’t find much information about that.

this whole process is so frustrating, I’m literally at my wits end.

May i know what the documents they requested? are they requesting more recent documents about financial stuffs / training benchmark thing in the months where you have been waiting since you lodged the application? or they will only loook at the period before you lodged the applicaiton?

thanks heaps
