Wow @Jean Valjean! Thank you so much for your reply. It's quite complete and actually lifted a weight off my shoulders. I have been waiting for 19 months now, have not received any correspondence from immi since the day we submitted all the paperwork 23 Jan 2017. Any advice? I am terrified of thinking that they will take 12 more months or even more. My whole life is on hold as my family's. My MAs keep saying that the only think left to do is wait, but I have read so many comments on this forum about people that have followed up and complained to the Department with the help of their MAs and it seems to have worked to speed up the process apparently. My MAs do not want to contact IMMI as they consider it a waste of time and unprofessional. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks mate, did you at any time contact the department asking why they were taking so long or had any means to communicate with them? I have tried calling, unsuccessfully and emailing just sends an automated response. Where your MAs able to follow up or put pressure on the department? Cheers, and once again, congratulations

Hi @Rvee, I'm sure you will get a positive outcome. Many of my mates have gone through the same. Quick question, how do you know when the files is opened? I applied on the 23rd of Jan 2017 and my status is still received. I contacted the deparment via FACEBOOK, and they told me that there was no "OPEN" status, that it will stay as received till they have a response or need more information, and they said Received means it's already being processed. :(

Looking for MAs and MIGRATION lawyers: Nomination and visa submitted : 23 jan 2017 Direct entry Occupation: Graphic post press trades-person ONSHORE - LR Country Till today: STATUS RECEIVED, no emails or communication from the department since the day documents were submitted. 15 months and counting for the case to be opened. MA says there's nothing that can be done but wait, no will to email or call the department on my behalf. Have been living in OZ for 5 years, working for the same company for 5 years, currently hold a 457 visa. I believe my MAs could help me out but dunno what's happening and why do they refuse. Any MAs out there that are willing to have a chat about my case and give me some advice. Happy to change MAs. Any answers would be appreciated

Quick question to any M.A. out there. I applied for 186 direct entry on Jan 2017. Still waiting, CO not assigned. Back then we had 6 people on staff and a co worker got PR. Now we have 2 people on staff as we are restructuring and we have freelancers come in pretty often. Will this affect the nomination approval when they open the file?

Has anyone here called 131881 (IMMI ENQUIRY NUMBER) and has it done anything? Positive or negative? I hear that some people say it helped them and some say it doesn't. Just found this online : https://migrationalliance.com.au/immigration-daily-news/entry/2017-03-131-881-harming-the-lives-of-australian-visa-applicants-one-visa-at-a-time.html

I asked my MA to contact the department as the processing times have dropped to 13 months tops. They replied that " Please note, the following message provided by the Department of Immigration’s Permanent Employer Sponsorship section: “No response will be provided to enquiries in relation to an application status update, processing timeframes, pre-lodgement or non-PESE related matters” If you would like to see a copy of the message, please send a blank email to nsw.pse@homeaffairs.gov.au. You will receive an automated response with information about Subclass 186 processing. The automated response will also provide information about which applications are currently being processed. As of today, the section is processing applications lodged between June 2016 to March 2017." So they consider it's not a good Idea to contact them yet as all the information is there. But it seems my application is in limbo and this is very stressful as the status is still "Received" On the 23rd it will be 15 months waiting

They did sponsor someone in 2016 and the person got PR in six months but what worries me is that now we have a smaller team, I don't know if that affects the nomination, as we are restructuring the company

They sponsored someone and PR came through in 6 months, this was way before all the crazy changes. Although I did apply before April 2017. It worries me that back then we had a bigger team than now, as we are restructuring

I have not as all the communications are between my Migration Agent and the Department, they insist to not "rock the boat" as they say there's nothing to be done yet.

Hi Guys, I am very concerned, I applied on the 23rd of Jan 2017 for my 186 direct entry as a Graphic Post-Press Trades-person. I currently hold a 457 that expires in 2020. My Immi account shows that processing times are lower than what is shown on the global processing times website. On the 23rd of this month it will be 15 months of waiting and my case status is still on "Received" it hasn't even been opened yet and I am very worried that it will stay there for god knows how long. This situation is nerve wrecking as you all know, and with all the changes the department has been putting through and all the future changes currently under legislation I fear this application will be refused. I have done everything correctly with the help of my MAs but the only thing they do is tell me to wait, to wait, to wait. I have spent way too much money in this and am wondering if there is something that we might have missed. LOW RISK COUNTRY, application and nomination lodged on the same date. No CO assigned, no communication whatsoever from the department. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. The company I work for is doing well but now we have fewer employees as we are restructuring the department. It's a small business but legit and no changes have been made in regards to the company officially, it's just an internal restructuring. I fear for the worst although try to stay positive.

Thanks for your reply @Raul Senise, This month the processing times stayed the same, Today I reached the 14 month mark. I know this is a bit of a silly question but, Is it still possible that the case will be opened in the next month? Or is it becoming more common for applications to be on hold for way over the stated processing times?

Hi @Armaanz, sorry to bother you, but would you mind sharing the occupation you are applying with, are you using a MA? How many people in your application? And is the country Low or High risk?
