Going Home

Hi

sounds strange to say "going home". I have been here in Qld for over 30yrs and my wife for 7yrs but we have decided to return to the UK. Some will say that we are mad others will just ask the question, but to us the time feels right.

We are both in our 50's and we have no other relatives living here in Oz, so we looked at where we are and where we wanted to be in 5 yrs time and we came up with moving back to the UK.

It will take a bit of adjusting from me because I have been here since I was 26. Australia has been good to us but even after all these years UK is home.

We have no idea how it will work out, but that's the same as coming to Oz, its another chapter in the book, another adventure to enjoy. In life you never know whats around the corner that's what makes it so exciting.

We will rent initially then buy some where a bit later, but we don't know where that will be. My family is from Kent my wife's is from Bedfordshire, so we could end up in either.

I have read a few posts on here and one person says that you do things and make decisions that affect you at the moment in time where you are at, its true. I thought that I would die here in Oz but not anymore, right now we are "Going Home"

Good luck with it all :) If its what you want, nothing to stop you doing it. Life isn't about the what ifs after all.

It is different living somewhere to a holiday of course, espcially after so many years away for yourself, but if you've been back on trips and still feel a connection there, go explore and see if its where you both want to be.

Good luck, we returned after just 5 years away and it's the best thing we could have done. There have been several people on here returning after spending 30 years or more in Australia who have been so happy on their return - if we had stuck it out, and we easily could have done then I think we would have returned in the end anyway.

The best of luck, the way i look at it is I have dual nationality and therefore I can choose the country that suits me best to live in at a particular point in time - it doesn't mean it's forever.

steve ....iam currently happily living in the UK ....but please choose your area very carefully ......for me it wouldn't be anywhere in the S.E ...its just too busy, and expensive ...I genuinely wish you all the best ....there are some beautiful places , close to the action , great infrastructure ...PLEASE CHOOSE WISELY

Hope your plans go well for you :) I live in Kent at the moment and I agree it is busy in some places and expensive all over lol. There are some lovely village areas though that aren't as busy but it depends on what you like :) Hope whatever you decide you are very happy xx

sorry cs ...not meant to be a criticism of the S.E ...I know there are some stunning villages ...
