  1. So I've had my first contact from ANMAC today regarding my full skills assessment and they've attached a letter basically telling me that some nursing courses are no longer accepted by Australian authorities. Hoping they're referring to the old DipHE course and doesn't include the 2 yr postgraduate diploma I did. I have actually seen on the AHPRA website that they recognise 2yr Australian courses, out of interest. They also asked me to send them a copy of my AHPRA letter of eligibility when I get it and then they can continue my assessment, so looks like it was a good idea to do both at the same time. Even if I have to make two trips.
  2. I'm right at the beginning of my application. I've sent off both AHPRA and ANMAC application forms but waiting for uni to send my course info off. I briefly was in touch a year or two ago with a girl who did the exact same course as me (PG Dip) at the exact same uni, and she was able to register and work on a working holiday visa.
  3. Did your mic work okay when you tested it at the beginning?
  4. I recently submitted my ANMAC full assessment online and also haven't heard anything yet. i'm not worried at the moment because they're probably still waiting for my uni course info and also I've heard of them getting in touch with people after around 12 weeks.
  5. Do you know if there's much time difference between the modified and full assessment?
  6. Ah that's good news then, thanks for that. As my NMC COGS was sent to the Victoria address, I decided to send my application there too.. Just seemed logical in my mind. Hoping I get some good communication too!
  7. I went with this one in the link on AHPRA's wesbite. It takes you to a red version! Seems to have been accepted on my application so far.. https://www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registration-Process/Criminal-history-checks/International-Criminal-History.aspx
  8. Just to let people in the London area know, I spoke to a really nice guy called Richard at Kingston-upon-Thames county court, who did my document certification FREE OF CHARGE! I spoke to him on the phone and made an appointment to see him. I took my full application with copies of all the originals (around 25 or so certificates and references etc) and because it was quite a lot, he said it would be best to leave it with him and pick them up that afternoon or the next day. I've just been in to collect them and sure enough, the legend has done it all and he didn't ask for a penny. Don't pay for a notary public, speak to someone at a county court (the magistrates courts usually charge around £60 a signature!) and get a justice of peace to do it
  9. I'm about to send my AHPRA application (by DHL) but was wondering if it's a good idea to send it to one of the potentially quieter states for processing, so that it gets done quicker? But I was also wondering if I send it to Perth or Darwin for example, would I then have to present in person IN THAT STATE to convert my offer in principle?? That could be a headache if so....
  10. Thanks for that! I've managed to contact a justice of peace at a county court who is doing it today. No mention of money has been made, so I'm assuming it'll be free..........
  11. Congratulations!! Your post is the most useless on the forum.
  12. I did the 2 year PG Dip in Adult Nursing. I know what you mean because so many people think you have the old 2 year diploma, as soon as you say the word 'diploma'! I haven't passed my ANMAC skills assessment yet, but I have heard of people getting AHPRA approval and being able to work in Aus with it, so it must be grand in the end. PS They do clearly state you must have 'degree level or higher', which means postgraduate should be okay.
  13. Wow! So I've been sending out inquiries to find out how much it'll cost to certify my documents for my AHPRA application (around 25 A4 documents), and the cheapest that's come back is £240!! This is using a notary public, will a justice of peace at the courts be any cheaper? I'm in London, so if anyone knows of someone cheaper I'd be very grateful!
  14. I did the PTE-A as well. I spent a few days researching the exam structure and content, and then practiced a few of the more difficult questions. I found the E2 language site on YouTube really helpful for this. I got 89 overall with speaking being my lowest score at 81 (oral fluency 57 - I lolled at this as I'm a native UK speaker!) I found it really quick to take the test and get the result back, which was great compared to the OET, but you should be aware that other people speaking (or shouting in my case) next to you can be quite off-putting! And I think it's way cheaper than the OET.
  15. Why did they tell you that?? What were the reasons?
  16. I'm applying to AHPRA and ANMAC at the moment, and the NMC have sent out COGS letters to these for me, but looks like they've sent the AHPRA one to Melbourne and the ANMAC one to Sydney! I want to apply to work in NSW. Anyone know if this will be a problem? Or do they get uploaded to a national database wherever they arrive, and be able to be accessed by the relevant people dealing with my application wherever they are?
  17. I submitted my ANMAC application online and uploaded all the documents I have, but haven't heard from them to know whether they're happy with everything I've uploaded! Not expecting to hear anything soon, but it'd be nice to know if they want anything else from me in the meantime!

    AHPRA

How long before applying to ahpra did you send the NMC COGS? I think when I sent a request to NMC, there was a statement on the reply email that said to make sure you have an account open with the council you're applying to.
  19. Thanks for the advice Richard!
  20. Thanks for that! Yes it's hard to see how the whole process is going to pan out at this point. I'm happy to go over to get the AHPRA reg in person as it gives me another chance to visit friends and look maybe go visit some hospitals etc. I'm expecting ANMAC to be fairly routine but think the visa wait will be long as I only have 60 points on the 190 PR. So I may do what you suggest and schedule ahpra for a bit further down the line..
  21. I'm basically concerned because I know that 60 points isn't very much compared to what other people apply with. I'm worried I'll be waiting forever to get an invitation, and wondering whether the 489 visa with 65 points is a viable option to reduce the waiting game.
  22. Hi After doing another online visa assessment, it seems I could apply for either the 190 state visa (60 points) or the 489 state (65 points). Given that visa processing times and my points score are different for each, which would be the best to apply for? After reading on here it seems that you get invited quicker if you have more points, and therefore thinking the 489 would be quicker for me, but do they process 190 visas quicker than 489’s? I’m a 43yo ICU nurse with 4.5 years experience, applying single, happy to live in NSW outside of Sydney on the coast somewhere and apply for PR later down the line. I know 190 gives you immediate PR and you can live anywhere, and that 489 means you have to live ‘regional’ and don’t have PR.
  23. So you don't think the scanned uploads will still need to be certified and have signatures on them by a justice of peace etc before scanning in and uploading?
  24. Do nurses on the 189 or 190 visa get processed quickly or quicker than other professions?
