  1. Merry Christmas Monks ? This process has been rubbish and I agree, having the visa sorted would have made for a very happy Christmas in my house, instead we’re packing up to move into another rental because our current one is sold and we need PR for a mortgage. Even if you do get through to the enquiry line (if you’ve got the hours to spare on hold) they just tell you to email and won’t comment on anything. I’m no wiser about the progress of our application which changed to assessment in progress back in September Best of luck for the new year. Try and enjoy the Christmas break and fingers crossed for 2nd January 2018. I hope both our next posts are more upbeat ?
  2. Hi Everyone Still waiting for our grant, bit disappointed with the whole process. Onshore 80 points, with employment verification. Applied 27 August 2017, received contact from CO and returned additional documents all on 28 September 2017. Heard absolutely zero since then - I’m going to lose a job offer if I don’t have PR by 2nd January 2018 as it’s a prerequisite for the role. I have a job but that would have been a real step up. When I originally came over the visa process was much better - you could call or email your case officer and they would tell you what they’re waiting on etc. I’m pretty annoyed by the level of service we’ve received especially as you pay so much now. There is nothing remarkable about our case, I find it so disheartening when people only post to say ‘big surprise it was granted in 6 weeks...’ I’ve got no idea how they prioritise anything. So frustrated. Obviously happy for the lucky ones but a bit worn down by the impact living in limbo is having.
  3. We’re applying from qld onshore. The state nomination was the easy part really but it doesn’t mean that you’ll get granted the visa as the state nomination just confirms that if you are able to evidence your application then you would get the 190. We applied 4 months ago, onshore with 80 points and for a high priority profession. The DIBP are meant to be inflexible, they have to demonstrate that they’ve followed the process. Its a long and frustrating mystery how they do it. In hindsight I’d prepare for the long haul and then if you get lucky with a quick grant then that’s a bonus. Good luck ?
  4. That’s rubbish! I hope you get it soon. It does seem a long time since you applied, can you email them through your immi account?
  5. You can’t leave until a decision has been made as this would be in breach of your current conditions, they might not let you back in!
  6. Hi, if you’re one of the more fortunate applicants it can go straight to grant without you ever being notified that a case officer has been assigned. Most applications seem to be taking considerably longer than 5-6 weeks though, at the moment 5-6 months is still fairly quick. Have a look at the groups for applications by month, there are still many waiting from the first 6 months of 2017. I hope you’re lucky but I wouldn’t plan on anything until you’ve got your grant because processing times vary.
  7. Hi, that’s what we’re waiting on too. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone who has lodged for Queensland in August who has their visa yet.
  8. It depends on your points, as well as how many other people are applying under the same job code. For some people it’s a couple of weeks but for popular job codes it can be 4 months.
  9. We’ve tried to chase it but apparently they are experiencing unprecedented numbers of applications from priority countries (UK isn’t one) and so this means that the queue in front can get longer (they can pay to be processed more quickly) before your application is reviewed. So unless they get more capacity it won’t get any faster ?
  10. Hi, Yes - although I've seen mixed information about how they process them after they enter the system, whether its just the order in which they are received or based on points (or something else?). From what I've seen it can't be an exact science because it depends on whether you fulfill the application requirements to the satisfaction of the case officer who is dealing with your application. It could get passed from one to another who could have different ideas about what satisfies each requirement. Its just hoops...many, many hoops. I need them to hurry up with mine now. The longer it goes on the more we are disadvantaged by not having it. Eg. we are onshore but unable to buy a house without residency, we need to move out of our rental which has been sold. We can't enroll our children in school without proof of a permanent address but we don't want to commit to the cost and move to another rental if there is a chance we could buy before the new school year. I'm just ranting, I really hoped this would have been more straightforward. The only contact we've had is to say that we've been assigned a case officer, they requested a couple of extra documents (provided in September) and since then its a wall of silence. Status just says 'Review in process'. So frustrating.
  11. Hi everyone, So, I can't help but notice that October grants are well below the usual grant rate? I know September was a massive month (one of the trackers reporting as many as 270 PR grants in the month) much more than the usual, but so far in October less than a handful. Does anyone know why this might be? Even if you don't include September its still way below the average. I could make some assumptions about why but, if anyone has more experience or has some information that would be great!
  12. Hi, border website publishes allocation dates on their website to show the earliest date of application they're working on, other stuff you can find easily on the immigration trackers and by looking for other similar cases. You can search by job code (number of people applying under same job code), country of applicant, onshore/offshore - you can work out roughly what to expect.
  13. I've just done a bit of analysis to try and get a realistic idea of when we can expect our grant, like everyone else there are aspects of our life which we are having to delay or risk all together as a result of the visa application process - September was a massive month for awarding grants (the backlog must have been significant). Only 3 grants in all October *sigh* I'm hoping it will pick up, I don't like it when it all goes quiet.... It looks like there are some grants from applications made in July though so at least heading in the right direction. The general skilled migration allocation dates have been updated to show that they are working on applications up to 3rd September.
  14. Hi - if you google 'Australia immigration tracker' a site will come up which allows you to view lodgement dates and processing times for individual visa applications, you can search by profession and see how long applications are taking. But as has been said before you need to be invited to apply by submitting an EOI, this process can take a while on its own and then you have the actual visa application which again you can use the tracker to calculate an average - at the moment the DIPB website is saying 90% of applications processed within 12 months (and thats after you've got your invitation to apply and have submitted a formal application). There are always exceptions and you might be lucky, if its something you've wanted to do for 10 years its worth a shot for sure.
  15. Hi if you google Allocation dates for general skilled migration, it should come up. It gives you a date for allocation and priority group eg 189 Priority Group 4 is 31st July 2017 etc. it should be updated soon.
  16. According to border.gov.au the earliest date they have currently allocated is 20 August.
  17. We waited over a month for a case officer to be assigned, we are onshore with 80 points. Some people get one within a few days or weeks, some a few months. It depends on multiple factors - you might never get a case officer and go straight to a grant. I think average processing time is about 8 months and there is nothing you can do so don't worry, if your application is in you've done the hard work so just settle in for the wait. Good luck
  18. We provided the information requested yesterday and today our status on the immi account changed to show the documents have been received and are being reviewed. I am feeling optimistic that we're nearing the finishing line...but you never know how long this bit might take, or if they'll want anything else, I really hope not!
  19. It does say that if you don't respond in writing they will assess the application anyway after the deadline for providing the requested information.
  20. Yes, we had to re-read this part too! You need to email the CO (respond in writing) to confirm the additional information has been uploaded to the immi account for review, but don't attach copies to the email.
  21. Hi all, We were assigned a CO today and more information has been requested. They've asked for some payslips, a copy of my wedding certificate (from my first marriage) and another character form. Hopefully I can get this back to them within 24 hours. Nice to get some contact from someone (31 days after lodgement).
  22. Noosa is just gorgeous, anywhere near Hastings street is usually good. For a less expensive option we enjoy Bribie Island for a good range of beaches and scenery. If you're into inland areas Maleny and Montville are worth a visit too. There's also the glass house mountains....so much to see! Have a great trip.
  23. Thank you! Still no idea about timing but it's nice to know it was worth getting the extra points.
  24. Hi Just wondering if anyone knows whether points make a difference? Do applications get processed if they pass the threshold in order of receipt or do they get assessed more quickly if you have more points?
