  1. Hi. 7 weeks of 'Assessment in Progress' I'm from a low risk country, straight forward application. Employers nomination approved 1st February. I haven't been able to get through on the phone and no response to email enquiries either. I received a letter which said they would be responding within 7 days - 18 days ago. I wouldn't mind the waiting and could be more sympathetic to the process if communication wasn't so poor. We weren't going to do anything until the visa came through but our house sold quickly and the kids have finished school now so it looks like we'll have to do it the least ideal way and book flights as soon as we have a visa with only a couple of days notice. COME ON VISA. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  2. Congratulations to you. I don't know how I'll cope when mine comes through. I'm obsessed with my immi account ☺ have a great weekend. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  3. Oh well, I might give the calling a miss then. I have emailed to ask why they haven't responded after I submitted further evidence - its been 14 days and their letter says I should expect to hear within 7 days. I've not had a response to an email yet so not really that hopeful. I wish there was something I could do. Its so annoying that this is the way visas are processed.
  4. No. I'm getting a bit annoyed as my last letter from them said I could expect to hear within 7 days. That was 2 weeks ago. I can't get through on the phone. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks for the update. How long did it take you to get through? Did they give any indication that there were delays? I bet it felt good to speak to someone at least. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  6. Contact your chosen University in Australia as they have dedicated Student advisors who will help you with the visa application process and can also advise on student accommodation options for when you get here. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  7. I've been reading in the news that there is increased pressure on case officers to process high numbers of Safe Haven temporary visas in most states. Perhaps that is causing our skilled migration applications to be dealt with more slowly? Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks. I really do hope so! Good luck to you [emoji4] I don't know what I spent my time thinking about before I applied for an Australian Visa. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  9. Yep. There's no reason I can see as to why they would decline my application but we have reached the point where we've had to start packing up and the kids have finished at their UK schools...nothing like cutting it fine. V.stressful. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  10. I tried to speak to my Case Officer today...I couldn't get through before they closed. Friday is the 8 week mark for me. I sent some information as requested by my CO and was told by letter I would hear within 7 days...that was 12 days ago...but we have had Easter. I must add immigration have not done anything wrong, I'm impatient to start my new job (missing out on a trip to San Francisco this week) and I'm keen to get my kids settled, I think communication could be improved - It's a very mysterious process! 11. Don't forget, Australia will also be on a public holiday this Friday and Monday for Easter (including the visa case officers!). Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks. I do wish there was more info on the immi account and I guess I'm a bit frustrated by them not telling me they couldn't open one of the docs I attached until 28 days had passed. I know I should hear soon, it gets more difficult to put it out of your mind when you get nearer to the end ☺ Also we sold the house and left our jobs so we have to go somewhere!!!! 13. I am fully bored of visa limbo now ? I should hear in a couple of days (I was asked for further info and they said in the letter that they usually respond within 7 days). It's difficult to know what to do....other than wait... Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  14. I don't know if you can apply without destination state? I've got employer nomination so they had that info before I applied. Sorry. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  15. Congratulations!! Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  16. I'm (hopefully) going to queensland and contributions were everything from about $1500 to $4000 for public school. We've opted for independent just because our eldest would have been due to start GCSE year but I have to say when I visited last month the standard was very high compared to what's available to us here in the UK. 17. Nope. No school fees, although most require a contribution (payable by all) and at some schools we looked at this was slightly different depending on redidency status, if you go for a fee paying school we have found no difference in fees. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  18. Nope. Nothing yet...[emoji4] Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk

  20. Hi, small bit of drama with my application yesterday...my CO sent me a letter by email to advise that he was not able to open of my documents and as I had now reached my 28 day limit for submitting I should sort it out ASAP. I was fairly frustrated - I submitted all my docs 27 days before (within 24 hours of the request) and I'd also contacted them to check they had everything needed. I felt like I'd been waiting for a month for nothing. Anyway after a 4 hour round trip to collect an original document so that I could be sure it will open I reattached it (again within 24 hours). I really hope they don't take every last minute to come back to me again. Massively irritating - my online immi gave no indication that there was any problems, just lots of little green ticks next to everything. I'm hoping next week is our week! 21. Hi Nepal, You can call visas and immigration directly to check that your application has been lodged however your MA should be able to provide you with a reference or receipt for confirmation. Also check on the immigration website for standard processing times for your country to see if you should have heard yet. Best of luck [emoji4] Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  22. Congratulations! What exciting news ? Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  23. I've applied for a 457. My employer nomination was approved 3rd Feb, we were assigned a CO and then submitted our documentation 16th Feb so we are looking at another 2-4 weeks (if its straightforward). It does seem like forever though. My eldest (aged 13) had a school leaving party on Friday because we plan to leave during the Easter half term - but until the visa is granted there's nothing left to do except keep thinning out our belongings ready for shipping. I'm finding it difficult to focus on anything at all during this limbo stage!
