  1. Hi Everyone, I'm after a bit of advice although I'm told a crystal ball is required at the moment to correctly predict processing times. I've been invited to apply for both 189 and 190 after submitting EOI's. Job is ICT Security Specialist - on shore in Queensland (here on a 457). Have 75 points for the 189 and 80 for 190. I can't apply for both visas at the same time...straw poll of which might have the fastest turnaround? Thanks
  2. Hi everyone, Does anyone have experience of applying for PR 190 Visa whilst in Australia (currently here on a 457). We've applied for state nomination in QLD but when I called the Immigration Dept. here in Queensland the agent was not very helpful and they didn't seem to be able to give me any indication of anything really. It was a frustrating conversation - not helped by the fact that this persons English was very poor, we struggled to communicate. I've been offered a better job than the one I'm currently with a sponsor for on my 457 but it does require that I have PR in order to accept. My family and I had already started the process but we are still waiting for nomination from the state (they say there is a backlog due to changes in the 457 and no extra capacity to deal with the increase in volume). The time frame has changed a lot since the application for state nomination was lodged, I'm not sure if already having a visa will help to expedite the process or not? Thanks in advance :-)

  4. Much as I've enjoyed the forum I'm not sure I'll miss the waiting! ? It feels amazing to finally be able to plan to go. The kids especially are excited and we are on our last day of cleaning up at our old house - we are a bit more motivated than yesterday. Such a massive relief. Can't wait to sit down with a drink later and know that everything is in order. Phew. Hope you get yours soon, good luck. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  5. They emailed. Amazing after weeks of my trying it was granted within 24 hrs of my employer contacting them. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  6. It seems the contact from my employer made all the difference. I also received an apology for an oversight from the visa office for causing delay. Yippee. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  7. Great News! Visa has been granted today ????? 43 working days from application being submitted. WAHOO!!! Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  8. I've had an email this morning asking me for a copy of a document I had already attached and that they had previously confirmed that they had received. I am finding it difficult to understand why they say they require no further information and then a few weeks later I get asked for more or, in this case something they've had since mid-Feb. I am not convinced active assessment of my application is taking place in the way I would expect. My employer are going to contact them. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  9. Ugh. Sounds painful. Wonder what's taking them so long. Good luck. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  10. Its fine, we have a back up plan ;-) Its a calculated risk, and we weren't willing to forfeit the sale of our house.
  11. End of week update.... Employer nomination approved 1st Feb 2016 Visa application submitted 16th Feb 2016 No visa - Assessment in Progress for 40 days as of next Monday. Movers coming on Monday to take the furniture for shipping so moving into temp accommodation near to the airport! Email confirmation received from visa office, no further info required, no additional considerations, cannot give indicative timeline as applications assessed according to priority status and date received. High numbers of applications mean that non-priority may take longer than normal to process. I have contacted my employer to see if they can do anything. Good luck to everyone for the coming week.
  12. You need to call the regional processing office dealing with your application (usually your nearest destination city). Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  13. I've had less than 40 days esp. as Easter Bank holiday, so it's not taking longer than normal. Just frustrating. Seems like forever! Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  14. My employer in Australia has said they are seeing an average turn around of 9 weeks, its a very long time to be in visa limbo. I had no idea it would be so stressful - I read this forum and saw people complaining and worrying and to be honest I thought some were a bit over dramatic but actually after packing up a house and taking the kids out of school whilst trying to wind up my UK business and living in chaos I see the point. My friends already in Oz said it would be a few days, maybe a week or two - but that was the case when they came out over 5 years ago. More recent folk have taken the full 2 months or more and I wish I'd been prepared for it :-) Ho hum....every day is a step nearer.
  15. Just sharing an update as a few newbies on now (hello!) and those who were here when I joined have mostly had their visa's granted. Employer Nomination approved 1st February 2016 (with me onshore) Visa application submitted 16th February 2016 (back in UK) More info requested 17th February 2016 More info provided 17th February 2016 Case officer allocated 17th February 2016 (Status change to 'Assessment in Progress'). Additional document request 16th March 2016 (submitted same day) Email from case officer 7th April 2016 (just to say we know you're still waiting and we're working on it). Bit disappointing as I'd hoped to be flying out this week. I'm from a low risk country (UK) and my application includes 1 spouse + 2 children. Its a straight forward application with no special circumstances or considerations.
  16. You must be thrilled!!! Congratulations - what a relief. Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  17. Good luck for the new week everyone, hope you get your good visa news ☺ Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  18. No it doesn't. In some ways its good - especially as it reads as though someone took the time to compose it rather than a cut and paste response however all they're really saying is that I have to wait for as long as it takes. It has caused a great deal of hassle - my nomination was approved 1st Feb! Thankfully my employer is being great about it. No doubt I'll have to make myself worth the wait when I get there :-/
  19. Unfortunately it depends. At the moment it seems the full time is being taken, so if you are low risk it could be 2 months - high risk is 3 months. Other factors which can affect the application are whether it is just for yourself or your whole family and whether your employer is registered with the immigration dept etc.
  20. Fingers crossed!! Sent from my SM-N910F using Tapatalk
  21. I've had an email from my case officer! The email is in response to my request for an update and I asked them to confirm that they had received documents (previously one I attached didn't open and they didn't tell me for 4 weeks). They have confirmed they have all the documentation they need but interestingly my CO has written 'I cannot give you a time frame in which you can expect to hear'. I also note that this CO has a different name to the person who I originally spoke with. Unfortunately an email is not a conversation so I can't now go back with questions but the gist from them is 'We're looking at your application, we have everything we need, we don't know how long it's going to take'. 22. It's definitely disruptive, all this waiting. Everyday several people ask 'have you got a date yet?'. I am in the UK so can't do much else to try and find out the situation at the DIBP. There is no plan B. I guess you have to fully commit to a move like this without knowing if the visa will even be granted (I don't know why it wouldn't but that's the worry). Maybe this is part of the Adventure and in a couple of weeks I'll be in Australia and this will all be forgotten! No news is good news right? They're usually quicker to refuse a visa than grant one. 23. I don't know of anyone who has heard directly from a member of staff outside of normal office hours. All of the correspondence I've had has been received between 9am and 4pm Aus time.
