  1. Hi i have a visa application lodged as per my signature below but a company want me to start sooner. I don't really have any other visa options that would allow me to go and work there sooner so is there an option of being based in the UK and working for the Australian company until my visa comes through? And what would be the financial implications of that scenario? Thanks
  2. Thanks that takes me full circle in this thread as it's the visa I thought I'd need in the first place. I think I'll contact a MARA agent in Oz. thanks for your help, one and all!
  3. I'm willing to look at all options, but if it does not suit, then Company Sponsorship might be the best option. Is there a visa reference number for that one?
  4. Thanks Aussie Girl So, is your partner applying for the Short Stay Temporary Work Visa whilst in the UK, having recently applied for the offshore Partner visa? If this is the case, it might be an option, but there is a risk that I won't get my partner visa within those three months. the long stay temp work visa is a 2-3 month wait time.
  5. Thanks mate. Is there a resource online where I can find out more about the company sponsorship route, so that I can give them a steer? They are a bit unsure of the process and costs, timelines etc, and if I sought out the info, I'm sure I could explain to them. cheers
  6. Thanks Bungo, but I'm afraid I'm past the point of no return for the WHV. Nine years over. I think I'll need to sweet talk them to wait. actually, if I go to Australia on the holiday visa that I still have from December, can they give me a bridging visa by applying for the skilled migrant visa onshore?
  7. Folks, the company I am speaking to has not made any progress with things and have come back to say they want me soon, but they are not approved sponsors at this moment. My Partner visa is due from January onward, but they would like me to explore other options that would allow me to get there sooner without sponsoring. Is there any other type of visa that would suit to plug the gap between now and my Partner visa being grantd? Thanks
  8. This is so easy to do. I did it on a couple of things but I just left it as it was. I'm not worried about it. My CO didn't say anything when she got in touch. She did ask for one further document that was not related to the issue you mention so I'd be fairly relaxed if I were you.
  9. Neutral Bay might be worth a look too. It has a very high percentage of under 30's and there is plenty to do. We have a friend who is moving out of his parents house in Lindfield and his first choice was Neutral Bay because of the relative affordability and nightlife.
  10. Look at stops on the North Shore line from Wahroonga, as you mentioned to North Sydney. Wollstonecraft is nice, Crows Nest, although it's a further walk to a station, has a few nice bars and deli's. Chatswood has the Westfield shopping centre. Any stops from Wollstonecraft in to the CBD, (Central Business District) will let you walk around the Opera house and back in a couple of hours across the harbour bridge.
  11. Congratulations to all you recently granted visa holders. Well done. Your lodgement to grant times are really encouraging for the rest of us on 10-14 months waiting times
  12. There is a receipt sent in off format for online applications but I'm afraid I've no idea how the manual process is handled.
  13. I have just done the multiple choice medical questionnaire and printer my referral letter. One thing I have noticed is that the Visa Type section says BC 100 Spouse (Permanent). Am I reading too much into it or have the department indicated that they are looking at my visa going straight to PR?
  14. That was purely on weight of 30kg. It would be like sending a heavy suitcase.
  15. Quick check on the FedEx site gives a quotation of £388. I'd say they would be pretty reputable. And that is a 3 day delivery. There is also a 5 day delivery at £310.
  16. My wife has done it the opposite way AU to UK to AU to UK. But we are now heading back to AU again! The pull of family and friends and the trials and tribulations that go along with that has forced the move each time. Except for the first time she came to the UK, she only came for a year and kept postponing her return as she built a new life in Glasgow. The he reason for the return to Australia is that we now have a son and have decided that it would be better for him to grow up in Oz based on the fact that she grew up there in the first place. I'm happy with that and I'm now right up for the move too. It it doesn't matter where we live, we will always have family in the UK and Australia so we just need to deal with that side of things wherever we are.
  17. Sounds like it's part of the recent system upgrade. When last did you look in your account at the documents section?
  18. Great news. And good that you got it at the lower end of the estimate. What is your visa based on, defacto or marriage? We have been married for Two years and living together in total for 4, and we have a son, so we are hoping to go straight to 100 too.
  19. Agreed, I don't think you have anything to worry about wowzer. As long as your online status is "Application in Progress " and your documents status is "Received ", it's all good.
  20. Also, I called the medical centre to book an appointment for September and I was told to call back in August.
  21. I did email them through the website and the CO contacted me the same day I got a reply from the general office. But I'm not sure if it was connected. I understand your position though. I I must say that I have found them to be very courteous and professional.
