  1. Hi, I would really appreciate any comments of pros and cons of moving to Australia from the Uk. maybe there is some things I haven't thought about that others have (info about me- no kids as yet and a married couple however looking to start a family. Planning on moving to Queensland-gold coast area) For me cons are leaving behind family, Pros are definatly the weather. However I am trying to be prepared for the cons of Australia before making the final move.

  4. hi, Could someone advise how you validate the visa? Do you just go to australia for say a holiday within 12months after the medicals are done. As we probly wont move straight away. Also for new applicants not yet applied, is the wait longer then 8-9months? from what im reading thanks in advance for help
  5. also does anyone know with the spouse visa, if you have a time frame to validate your visa once authorised? if you dont plan to move to australia straight away once granted (eg time to sell house ect)

  7. can anyone give me some advice. I am australian citizen. My husband will be on a partner visa. But we plan to move out there with a newborn. Can anyone advise if the baby will need a visa? (The baby will have a british passport )or can i apply for australian citezenship for the baby.
  8. thanks so much for the responses. So we would have 12months to activate the visa from the date we do the medicals. People seem to be saying they get there medicals done approx 3months after lodging the application.. So would that mean if the visa takes approx 9months to be granted, we would have roughly 6months to go to australia to activate it. ? Just thinking in advance for saving for flights thanks
  9. Hi, Helensvale has some lovely houses at great prices. I was just wondering if you could tell me a little more about helensvale? Is there a beach nearby (i pressume we would need to drive? hopefully not too far. are there shopping centres to do food shopping ect?
  10. Hi, My husband is applying for a partner visa. If we are not ready to make the move once granted. Do we need to go to australia (for holiday) to activate it? And how long will the partner visa be valid for if you dont move for awhile? Also what happens after the permanent visa is granted? will it run out after so many years? And has anyone been granted a tempory and permant spouse visa together rather than waiting 2 years for permanent. We have been married for 7years and together for 10 years. thanks
  11. Hi, I was just wondering if income is taxed the same way as uk (eg roughly 20%)
  12. Hi, I am trying to budget for Medicare insurance for 2 adults and 1 newborn. Could anyone give me a rough idea to budget for? thanks
  13. hi, Could anyone advise how the medicare works in australia when giving birth? eg costs or is it all free. I am an australian citezen. (but been living in uk for some time) i wasnt sure whether to get insurance aswell but wasnt sure if it was worth it.
  14. Hi, Just wondered if anyone could advise how much the medicals required for the partner visa cost and where you would have to go for them thanks
  15. Hi, Does anyone have any recomendations on where to move to around the goldcoast area? Must be near a beach (walking distance) But maybe no more than 1 hour away from brisbane. Looking for a nice area with little crime, and a place to bring up children. We loved Broadbeach area but is just to far away from brisbane. So was looking a bit closer to brisbane, or even north of brisbane.
  16. Hi, I grew up in gladstone (but have been living in uk for last 16years) so may not be the best advice i can give. there are a few schools in gladstone. I went to KIN KORA school as a child, and one of the other schools was called SOUTH i think. I think KIN KORA was one of the better known primary schools. Gladstone is where most people work at QAL the aliminum plant. It is a nice area, has nice marina and shops. Boyne & Tannum is beautiful, however unfortunatly i think its about 15-20min drive into gladstone if i remember correctly..
  17. hi, could anyone suggest a nice area to live in Gold Coast area for a couple aged 30, intending to start a family. Thinking of broadbeach area as visited 5years ago and loved it.
  18. Hi, I have just renewed my australian passport and im an australian citezen as grew up in australia. But i have been living in the Uk for past 16 years. Does anyone know if i need to advise anyone im returning to australia to live permanatly? Unsure if i need some sort of returning Visa attached to my passport?
  19. Hi there, I have just seen your post. We are planning to make the move around august 2015. Luckily i am australian by birth,so we are applying for a partner visa for my husband, so unable to give any advise on the visa side. I myself am newly AAT Level 4 qualified. and my partner is a qualified joiner, so it would be interesting to see any advice you recieve. I have myself been looking at how the AAT would help with getting a job in australia. And i am struggling witht this. As it doesnt appear to be recongnised in Australia. I am due to start the ACCA shortly which appears to be a bit more recognised in australia. But i would have only done maybe 2-4 exams by moving, so im hoping i will still be able to get a job within an accounts dept in australia somehow. My partner is a joiner, and he has the city of guilds qualification-level 3 i think for advanced joinery. We have discovered that to get the qualifications recognised in australia it costs around £2000. However someone on here gave us advice that a polished CV with plenty of pictures should be good enough for an employer. So we are going to try and go down that route instead. If you have any advice it would be great help, expecially with the AAT.
  20. hi, My husband is a Joiner, who has been a joiner for approx 10years since school. So is qualified. We are planning to move to australia also. (both visas are sorted as i was born in oz). Any advice with working as a joiner would be a great help. Do we need to get the qualifications recognised in oz?
