  1. We have just used Victoria university. it took 4 weeks for them to review my documents before decision ready, now its a max of 13weeks. But the 13 weeks didn't start until all documents reviewed which was annoying I have since read they might be picky with documents. Good thing about Victoria university was that I could send all documents by email (colour scanned), Whereas with others I think you may have to post to Oz which takes 7days in post Ive read some good reviews on Vetasses (so wish I used them)
  2. We are now at decision ready (document assessment stage) Can anyone advise what is involved in Document assessment. What are they looking at? are they looking at all documents or are they looking at photo evidence I have provided? in the review they were obviously looking to check apprentiship certificate as I didn’t include it, but it was on the CV so they asked for that, and further details of certificates. In the review which took (applied 24th aug), (decision ready 25th september) they asked for a few more documents(they gave me 7days) which I sent within 24hours, but they mentioned they wanted a full transcript of subjects studied with grades. I sent them the certificates which showed subjects with date next to it passed. There was no grade! As I think it was just pass or fail. It must be ok as now Decsion ready. the reason why I ask is because on the email they have advised that ‘if’ the assessor requires more documents I only have 5days to submit or my case gets closed and have to start again!!! I am a bit worried they might ask for things to to do with certificates(further brakedown of subjets) even though I have provided all the certificates I was ever given at the time. There were some certificates with subjects listed on them- But no grade –it was just a date that I passed. I presume I will have to get these from the college I studied at 15 years ago will be hard to get them in 5 days and signed by an authorised person eg policeman. Really don’t want to start the whole process again Thanks in advance
  3. We have just applied for skills to be done with Victoria university. It has just taken them 4 weeks to review documents and it takes maximum of 13weeks from now(decision ready) I wish it was quicker
  4. Could someone help for illets is it the general test? Or academic test? I think I read it's general test. Just wondered what is the difference Also how does the points work. Is it quire straightforward for someone English from birth to get the 10 points required for visa This is for 189 visa skills.
  5. yes british citizen from birth. We are planning to go to Queensland. (gold coast area) so that's why we chose 190 visa. You mentioned comply for potential proof of how much money you have/other things? If its too complicated maybe the Illets might be a good idea so then we don't have to worry about all that and apply for 189
  6. hi My husband has 60points for the Skilled visa (190state sponsorship) which includes the 5points for state (as we definatly want to go to Queensland. he is a Joiner which is on the SOL. We are unsure whether to do IELTS to boost points? any advice? we already have enough points but we really want to go ASAP so was worried we may have a wait getting an EOI straight away with only 60points. Cost for Ielts is £144 so extra money unsure whether to pay out
  7. I was just wondering once applied for 190 skilled state visa (queensland) Is there a website for example like a jobs website where People who are looking for skilled joiner/carpeters (as on the SOL) are advertised? Or I presume just searching on the normal jobs websites like seek & indeed. thanks in advance
  8. My partner is a joiner. We have just applied for skills assessment with Victoria university. Cost is $2000 which includes document assessment and technical interview where you have to go to (our closest is london). It takes 13 weeks for this from time they confirm decision ready. And we have waiter 2 weeks so far but not yet decision ready so you may be looking at 4months to have the skills part approved. Then you can apply for expression of interest for the visa
  9. Hi.my husband is a joiner and we are planning to make the move. (I used to live in Gladstone which is 1.5hours away from rock Hampton. Rock Hampton is lovely. We ideally would like to go to that area or back to Gladstone. But from looking online on jobs websites we can't seem to find any joinery work in those areas. Most joinery jobs appear to be around gold coast/brisbane area. It would be great to hear if your partner finds work in that area.
  10. sounds great as we want to go straight away once we get visa approved. so makes sense for us to get medicals first (while we are waiting for skills to be confirmed) then at least it may save us a few weeks. That's a few weeks in Australia earlier
  11. hi, Just wondered what the DIBP website is? where I get a HAPID. I would my otherhalf to do medical before EOI. many thanks
  12. so many people have said how lovely Helensvale is, and rental property seems to be very reasonably priced. Ideally I would have liked to be nearer to the beach, but you appear to get more nicer houses for your money in helensvale. Plan is to go Feb/march time to rent for first 6months then to buy once we agree on an area.
  13. Could someone help. After searching on realestate.com.au I am struggling with which gold coast area to live. ideally I would like to be near the beach so Southport and Labrador appeal to me? anyone know what they are like to live? Alternativly the more cheaper properties appear to be in Coombabah, Helensvale? could anyone advise on these areas. thanks in advance
  14. Just wondered if anyone has used Victoria university to have TRA skills recognised. It would be for a Joiner. Just wondered if the wait is near the maximum 13weeks they say?
  15. I was just really wondering if lucky enough to get expression of interest email, is it almost guaranteed visa providing all ok with medicals and police checks? Can much go wrong? Other half only has 55points but we are applying for 190 visa which makes it 60points. So getting approved for expression of interest might be hardest with low points.
  16. Hi. My partner is a joiner so I presume same or simular procedure. The first step would be to check that you have the 60 points needed to apply for 189 visa (skills visa). He only got 55 points and you need 60 so we chose go go for the 190 visa which is where you choose a state to work in which gives us another 5 points. There is an illets test (english) which a lot of people tend to go if you are short on points. Then you need to get skills recognised. We are just doing this now through Victoria university. Takes 13 weeks and costs 1000quid but you need it.to apply for visa. There is an interview involved over Skype that he has to go to London for.and we are emailing though copies of cerifi ate of qualifications ect. Then next step is to apply for expression of interest for the visa..Then if accepted we apply which is £1955 Hope that helps
  17. Could someone please give advice, my husband is qualified Joiner-level 3 Joiner-Uk based on points I think he has only 55points. But there is a 5point option to choose state nomination- If we do the expression of Interest and only apply for Queensland does that give us extra 5points=total 60points? also just to clarify the 10 points for 'An award or qualification recognised by the assessing authority in the assessment of the skilled occupation' We are doing the skills test & technical interview with 'Victoria university' to get recognised in Australia- is this the 10points for this? HIS points= 55points 25-32 years = 30points In skilled employment for at least eight and up to 10 years (of the past 10 years) 15 points An award or qualification recognised by the assessing authority in the assessment of the skilled occupation 10points Points are awarded on the basis of the factors listed in the following table. All factors are assessed as they are at the time you are invited to apply for this visa. 18. just some info. My husband is going to apply for Skills visa (joinery) What are the rules regarding getting a job. Does he have to do the job doing 'Joinery' once in Australia- Or can he do any type of job? also if it gets granted- Do you have to validate the visa by going to Australia within a certain time? eg do you have to move straight away. Thanks in advance
  19. thank you so much for the reply, he has NVQ Level 3 - Carpentry & Joinery plus has been doing joinery for 13years approx., So does this mean he doesn't have to have techinal interview or practical? I just need to pay documentary assessment which is £510 with the RTO I picked off the list 'Australian construction training services' As if that's the case it looks like the skilled visa will be almost £1000 cheaper than the partner visa and 6months quicker :jiggy:
  20. Hi. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the process for skilled visa for my husband who is a qualified joiner. I can see the skilled visa is $3600australia dollars. However I was unsure about costs for skills recognising? As I am Australian my husband could get partner visa but has just gone up to $7000australia dollars and takes 12 months to approve.
  21. anyone get the pomz in oz newsletter? has the partner visa gone up from 1st july 2015?
  22. Hi, has anyone been waiting for offshore partner visa to come through, but moved to Australia before visa processed.? I am interested if this causes any problems with process. Or can this be done. I am possibly considering a move a few months before approved. Obviously partner wont be able to work until approved. Thanks
  23. is there anyone who has applied for a partner visa in 2015? if I have read this correctly it has gone from $3065 in 2014 to $4630 in 2015! Ouch
