  1. Caloundra is only on there because people want to get out because it's awful....
  2. Do you work for one of the big shots?
  3. Where abouts? DoDo are cheap as chips. We're with Telstra purely because before NBN we had to have ADSL and Telstra ran everything so the cost worked out the same. I might try iinet when our contract is up in October.
  4. If you're going out on site you'll need a "white card" - the UK have a similar card called CSCS. All that's required is a multiple choice test. If you're qualified. You'll pass. If you're trying to get a job in one a specific field then yes they'll ask what qualifications you've got. You might get a job with a joinery or carpenter if you know what you're doing even without a qualification. Nothing stopping you law wise. If you're wanting to go solo you'll have to jump through hopes to get a builders permit, much the same as the UK. Also people ask on here what VISA you're coming out on purely so they don't waste their time in explaining things only to find out the person hasn't got a hope in hell in coming over in the first place.
  5. Think you might just have to deal with it..... The issue isn't with the AirBnB it's with the layout of your house and their house. You had problem with the previous owners dog.
  6. Figures on the GC are going to be slightly higher regardless. It attracts that sort of crowd. A little like living in Fortitude Valley.... Attracts a certain personality.. Council tax are called rates here. They're based on house value and amenities. Collection of bins, connection to town water and the like. QLD doesn't have any mains gas so you'll either have to buy bottles of it of use electricity which here in QLD is so damn expensive! NSW and VIC have 25% discounts where as we get a 8%.... Go figure. Water is reasonably expensive, a quick google will tell you the cost per unit on average. Car insurance is the same as the UK in my experience. When you register a car you pay REGO which will include 3rd party insurance. Which in theory everyone on the road is automatically insured. Phone costs are the same but that will depend on how much data, which phone and your minutes. Texts are often unlimited now a days as I'm sure you're aware. Couldn't tell you much about renting but all I do know is you don't pay the rates. Short and simple. JR.
  7. That's all good Just wanted to bring it to your attention that's all!
  8. I know it's really nothing important but it just niggles me. On each Subcategory, for example "Household" which has a circular Australian flag as it's icon. The back ground is either white or blue but the back ground on the icon image itself is white and therefore makes a white square on the blue background of that category. Can you not upload a blue back ground version of each one and assign it to the correct coloured line? And if you happen to add in another subcategory then just change them all accordingly? If not just tell me to shut up and I'll close my eyes when I click
  9. CC & dry.... Just bought a 10 pack, it's a public holiday after all!
  10. Also have a card for The Coffee Club, does that count?
  11. The sooner the better, the more big chains that arrive here the better!!! I'd love Tesco to branch out and really screw over Coles and Wollies!
  12. I guess you're right, Exeter is much nicer
  13. Fell in love with the country and just so happened to fall in love with an English girl with and Australian passport......
  14. Yes. Along with gambling. The sooner Aldi can sell booze in store here in QLD the sooner BWS and Liquorland will have to cut their prices! Great news if you ask me.
  15. What sort of work will you both be looking for? Or is your husband running a company online?
  16. No picture but can people put the settings of their cameras/lens on here too? Admin remove if necessary.
  17. The only thing that I find different, the sense of humour. That's all.
  18. I've lived on the Sunny Coast for over 2 years now. Weather is great, 30+ in the summer, humidity is bad for about a week. Chances of a storm are highly likely, summer is rainy season so that figures. I would outside for a living, not too bad once you're used to it. Adding onto BlueKangaroo, I now get up at 5:30 every morning and am asleep by 9:30. The sooner we get day light savings in Queensland the better. North Queenslanders aren't keen.... Lets slip the state! Peregian Springs is nice but the wrong side of the motorway. Peregian Beach is the go if you're wanting to be further north. Peregian Springs is very much like Brightwater, shops and cafes etc but you're closer to everything, can cycle to the beach easily BUT you're going to have to live with a neighbour 6ft away from your house... However all the houses there are new and are pretty swanky. Bli Bli is also nice. People bag out Nambour but it's actually alright, the houses are cheap and everything is there, but it's a trek from everything. Mooloolaba is the place to be...... Just saying. Any questions @ayda?
