  3. Oh interesting, I never even thought about that. I'm coming over to Sydney on a partner visa and have a property I rent out in the U.K..Will I have to declare income from that in Australia? Sent from my iPad using PomsinOz

  5. I'm moving to Sydney early next year and haven't got a clue if I can take my tools. The problem is I'm multi skilled and do most aspects of small building work fitting kitchens and bathrooms. This means I have tools for every trade, plastering, joinery, plumbing, electrical, tiling etc. Does anyone have any idea if I can bring those tools over ? It's hard to clean a £600 compound mitre saw. Any feedback appreciated. Sent from my iPad using PomsinOz
  6. Hi all, I'm just wondering if I can use my skills in Australia or do I need "tickets" for every component of work I do? Let me explain further. I'm a Kitchen and Bathroom fitter in Sheffield England. For my work I do joinery, plastering, tiling, plumbing, some electrical and general building work. In the U.K. It's not necessary to be "qualified" in most trades to carry out the work. What are the regulations in Sydney?? Just for those who think "Jack of all trades" check out my Facebook page "rowland property services" to see my work ,( not to be confused with the Sydney service cutting lawns etc) Thanks for your replies Sent from my iPad using PomsinOz
  7. Quick update, applied for partner visa May 2nd and received visa grant notice yesterday(July 5th) ! Wahoo . Good luck to all those waiting for an answer on theirs. Sent from my iPad using PomsinOz
  8. Hi Nemesis, Sorry to hear about your situation, hopefully you can live the travelling life you want in the uk. Best wishes Sent from my iPad using PomsinOz
  9. Hi nava24, I had to go to Manchester from Sheffield for my medical, took just 1 day for the ok to proceed from the doctor. I have not been invited for an interview but I had a call from my case worker. He said everything looked ok and should be straight forward, he just requested a couple more documents. I check my application on a regular basis but it still says "assessment in progress" . It's strange how I feel like my life is on hold until I get the go ahead. I'm over in Sydney in October this year for a holiday. Hopefully I'll know by then and I can put out some feelers for a job etc. Sent from my iPad using PomsinOz
  10. Ok great, thanks. Why would I be lucky? Do many get turned down for partner visas? Sent from my iPad using PomsinOz
