  1. Don't do it. The reason to move is wrong. The daughter clearrrrrly loves spending time with her half sisters and what not. My parents divorced, I don't ever recall talking about either of my parents to each other so why would she come home and talk to you about him. Children are clever enough that young to realise one parent doesn't want to hear about the other. The work life balance isn't all it's cracked up to be. We still work 40+ hours a week. You still only get 2 days for a weekend and when you can get out it's either so damn hot you're unable to do anything or it's raining. Not all sunshine and rainbows and if anyone tells you differently they're lying. Please don't get upset with people poo pooing what you want to do, it's advice. That's all. You do what you feel is right. And I'm sure you're aware being a mother the child always comes first!
  2. One piece of advice with Air BnB, ask the owners if you're able to use the address for things like bank etc at the beginning. Chances are they won't mind.
  3. We've lived in Buderim, Mountain Creek, Mooloolaba and Woombye. Have you got a bank account set up? NAB do a migration account which was great. House lined up? You'll love it. Just don't stress! Plenty of work for carpenters. Should be plenty of work for site managers too. Sippy Downs is lovely, Sienna private school is there, and there is a public school called Chancellor? I think... There are houses being built everywhere and anywhere currently. Haha Spiders aren't an issue, neither are snakes. Vary rarely seen. Australia is renowned for it's beaches so it won't disappoint where every you go! Any of the used car lots are fine. Cricks is a big dealer, as is Pacific. They're both on Wises Road.
  4. Sunshine Coast.... I'm not bias in the slightest.
  5. Would rather shit in my hands and clap than live there for sure!!! That's crazy! You must love skiing!
  6. Is he qualified in anything else, trade wise? Maroochydore High has a reputation for being a little bit useless. It unfortunately doesn't have a good reputation when it comes to the people who go there. That could just be me being snobby. We used to live on the canal in Mountain Creek and the school had not long been open and it had rave reviews from the get go. I have a mate who actually teaches there, he's not once moaned about it which is good. You'll love the Sunshine Coast, regardless of where you are. Again, if you need anything we're here!
  7. Lovely down there! Good choice. I assume you're sticking with state schools not private? I don't really know much about state schools other than to avoid Maroochydore High and that Mountain Creek State school has great feed back. There are plenty of building works going on at the moment so hopefully you'll find work reasonably quickly. Mooloolaba. But have a house in Woombye too. Hope all goes well!

    Winx!

She made me a rich man today
  9. I live on the Sunshine Coast. It's lovely, of course I'm going to say that! Where are you moving? Maroochydore is the hive of activity. Mooloolaba just down the road. What schools are you trying to get into? If you have any questions, need anything or just want a beer I'm always keen.
  10. What tools? One thing I will say is they'll get stuck at quarantine regardless so he won't get them straight away here if he needs them. How big are the boxes you intend on shipping?
  11. Alright alright I'm entitled to my own opinion.
  12. I'm trying to buy a 5 axis CNC and wanting to ship it from Germany ?? to Brisbane and would be interested in your pricing and customs etc!
  13. Exchange the UK one. They won't care you're from WA, only that you've got a license. Edit: One thing though, make sure they put the correct amount of years onto your license. They forgot to do it with mine and assumed I'd just got my opens.
  14. Kev have you ever taken a shit picture? Haha
  15. I can't say I like Peregian Springs much to be honest. But that's just me
  16. Hi Aurora, I'm sorry I've only just seen this!! Did you manage to get anyone to have a look at it?
  17. If you can prove you weren't in the country at the time you don't have to vote or pay the fine. I'll be getting my citizenship as soon as I'm eligible. Out of interest, how do I check when I can do it? Do I log in somewhere??
  18. Second what Very Stormy says. Although there may be a slim chance you can get your qualifications transferred with an interview etc etc

    Drivers License

Good afternoon Poms In Oz, Seems like an age since I posted on here!! Anyway, my question is. We're going back to the UK in June/July for a month or so for weddings and the like. My father has given us a car to use. My current UK Drivers license expires in June, am I able to renew it from here? Or will my Australian Drivers license suffice when it comes to Insurance etc? Google doesn't really help. I've been on the UK license page but it's asking me to sign up for the government thingy - I don't fancy doing that unless I have to! Thank you in advance! PS Mods, if this is in the wrong spot please feel free to move it!
  21. Hey Adele. Glad to hear everything is going well!! If you need any help, husband wants a beer then please don't hesitate to contact me. We're locals.... now anyways! What is your Husband doing for work and what are you aiming to do? Who is he working for etc? Cheers, JR
