    Savings!

Online savings accounts seem to be the place to go. I have a feeling it will be over the tax threshold anyway so I realise I will have to pay tax on it somewhere just a case on how much depending on where I leave some of my money. NAB Seem to be the best starting place at the moment I agree Parley. UBank is online I assume? I can google that! $200 for a savings bonus seems like a good idea. Same principal as (some) Nationwide accounts here.

    Savings!

I realise I can leave them there and transfer them later, but it seems silly just leaving them. Paying tax on the interest also doesn't seem particularly sensible. Also putting them into Super seems like a sensible idea in theory, but I don't want to put them somewhere I can't get to them when I want! If I am correct in saying that. Tempted to invest in stocks and shares, it's a sensible idea yet a risky. I'll obviously seek advice before doing anything rash but wanted to see what other normal people had done who aren't out to earn money from my money
  3. Right, it's coming to a point where I am starting to think about where to put my money when I move over there. Having read about ISAs etc I realise that there isn't much point in keeping them here unless I intend on returning (I don't) so I shall be taking them with me. Where to put savings in Australia? There isn't an ISA equivalent and there doesn't seem to be any particular account for larger sums of money to be kept. What have people done when it comes to put savings away? I'll be setting up a current account with NAB purely on the basis that I'll need access to money and card as soon as I arrive, until then I am open to suggestions!!!! I realise this is pretty vague but don't feel I need to disclose too much information (unless needed) about my financial standing! :biglaugh:
  4. Well done!! Brilliant news, now you can continue forward!!
  5. WHHHHOOOOOOOOOPPPPP!! VISA Granted!!!! 2 months to the day, just want to thank everyone for the advice and help you've all given me.
  6. As long as your UK phone is unlocked and you get the correct sim (Micro etc) it will work. I just walked in and bought a PAYG sim card over the counter, no questions asked. If you buy a phone in Australia they're all unlocked as it's against the law to lock a phone to a certain network.

    Points Test

Has he done the IELTs?? If not, that will boost your points up 5/10/20 points depending on level.
  8. A quick question for anyone who has an answer, how do you know when you've been given a CO? Is this emailed or just in the correspondence?
  9. Already?? Blimey!! What's your timeline @kshitindra
  10. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkrdCphtU8u-dGJQSWROUlZ0bThIaUF2VW9zdUZmMlE&usp=sharing#gid=84 Take a look at that - tabs along the bottom for each visa. Please don't filter it. Feel free to add your own timeline following the same format
  11. I have been upgraded to business class 3 times now, purely on the basis that I'm a silver member with Emirates, I didn't wangle points which was a bugger! It's worth it, I'm 6ft2 with broad shoulders and found sleeping a little annoying when sat in cattle class. Although, saying that on these new big A380s and even the Boeing 777s there is enough leg room. Never flown first class but would love to have a look inside for sure!
  12. Is that a direct email to the new case officer?
  13. Thankyou for the response. I actually went on to my immi account just to make sure it was submitted - it is. Certainly got me panicking!! You'd think they'd sort that out!! I'll email them later anyways. Cheers!!
  14. I've just had an email from Skill Select saying my EOI is about to expire (28/10/14) and if I don't apply it will expire! I've already submitted my application!
  15. You clearly get your news from somewhere as those things aren't really true.... Nothing has changed, it really hasn't. Sure you'll be fine and settle in just as you were!
  16. Did you not supply that when you did your Skill Assessment? If you did, then upload all that as well, there is no harm in doing so. Employment history does suggest you give them your CV - I realise that it's not in any way confirming any employment but does consistency.
  17. End of August for me so I'm going on the 10/11 week count down. Just purely so I don't lose the plot.
  18. It's a public holiday there today and they're also asleep! Even if it is the wrong number I'm sure they'll be able to patch you through to the correct area. Cmon 4 weeks until I'll start getting agitated!!
  19. There is already a thread going for August - November sometime is a guideline going by previous results.
