    Flight query

Happy days, yep we got something similar for our one way trip next month, 500 each in all in, Singapore Airlines to Singapore, 4 day stopover then Qantas to Melbourne We booked ourselves on airlines' websites following time on Kayak. When we went to a travel agent, she wanted 2500 for 3 of us for exactly the same itinerary!
  3. Just be wary that if you come across to Australia and live here for 4/5 years and then move back to the UK just as your eldest was looking at uni options, you may get stung for international fees as you've not been resident in UK prior to her going to Uni.
  4. Hi Bella My husband is an Australian Citizen but he left Australia in 1991 and has been living in Europe ever since. However, because he never renounced his Citizenship, he was qualified to sponsor me, and we got our grant earlier this month. I know you can be a Permanent Resident of Australia and be a sponsor, but I don't know about a PR who doesn't live there - I assume you have a Residents Return Visa to allow you back in the country, or is your Visa still within its first five years? I think you'd need to ask someone qualified to answer, ie migration agent or ring the Service Center to ask them, prior to submitting your application. You wouldn't want to pay the AUD 6865 and then be told no, you won't be approved as a sponsor (as there is a section on IMMI for the sponsor as well to upload relevant documents and statements, and then they go through an approvals process and the IMMI is updated with 'Approved' next to the Sponsor's name once they've passed through the process successfully). Good luck!!
  5. Hi Bella My sponsoring partner was an Australian Citizen (although he had lived in the UK since 1991 but never renounced his Citizenship so that was okay). If you hold a PR, I know you can sponsor a partner, but I don't know if you have to be residing in Australia - in terms of your PR, I'm assuming you have a Return Residents Visa to go back okay? Otherwise your PR status could lapse?
  6. We applied via London so offshore, and my UK police check was dated 18th March 2017 and so we were given the date of 17th March 2018 to enter Australia by. By the sounds of it, if your meds were dated December 2016, then you'll have until December 2017 to enter the country (providing your visa is granted by then), or if for whatever reason it hasn't been granted by then, you'll need to re-do meds and police checks as they have to be valid at the time of the visa grant. As @snifter said, your Case Officer should be able to advise you in any case. My case officer was fabulous.
  7. If you have any doubts as to your evidence, I would consider using an Agent as it's an awful lot of money to spend if you have doubts. The information on the website is very thorough and there is a partner/PMV thread on this site which is useful reading to learn about the experience of others, but your application is unique to you and will be judged on its own merits and evidence.
  8. If you have citizenship then just apply for your Aussie passport. If your partner and kids are British Citizens, check to see if your kids qualify for Citizenship by Descent from you and that's fairly quick inexpensive process. If your partner is a UK national, then you may need to apply for a partner visa, unless he qualifies for permanent residency through his work.
  9. All information you need is here: https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/300 All Budget information here: https://www.border.gov.au/about/reports-publications/reports/portfolio-budgets/2017-18 Fee currently AUD 6865, as of 1st July, this will be AUD 7000.
  10. I uploaded one photo of us for each year from 2003 (start of our relationship) to 2010, then a family photo including our daughter from 2011 onwards until 2016 within the social file that I uploaded. You don't need loads of photographs as your other evidence should speak for itself!
  11. I submitted mine myself (no agent) with no meds/police checks uploaded at that time. I was asked for meds and police check within a week of application, and was granted my 100 Visa 12 weeks from the date of application. I think it depends on your situation, how straight forward your case is, how well put together your application is, and what your case officer's workload is like! There are so many variables that's it's hard to know how they work! Also I was told by Australia House not to bother with an Agent as it was just extra cost for no reason, given the straight forward nature of our application. They advised only using an agent if there was adverse medical or criminal conditions that could affect the outcome.
  12. Your shipper sounds dodgy. Clothes are fine Shoes and boots need to be cleaned thoroughly. Machinery - i know trade tools are now excluded from insurance cover, as from 17 April. At end of day, as long as you can insure your items, and they don't go against Australian import and quarantine regs, then there's no issue. For marine insurance, use Letton Percival. I'd be talking to other shipping firms if I were you.
  13. For anyone reading this who has kids and feeling isolated, get onto the Facebook UK Mums in Melbourne page. It's really supportive and I've already have three offers of playdates/coffee/wine and I don't arrive for another month!!!
  14. You don't really need to include loads of social media stuff if you have enough other evidence to support your application. My mate put her FB history into a single PDF file and uploaded under social evidence option, together with a couple of stat decs from friends who vouched for their relationship. Good luck!!
  15. The only documents that were certified were the Stat Dec's from Aussie friends Nothing else of mine was certified at all, colour scans of everything were uploaded, and this was enough for DIBP.
  16. We are together 14 and married 11. We included statements outlining our relationship and it's milestones. Evidence then supported that. Bills and joint evidence from each address showing shared responsibilities. A selection of photos from throughout our relationship, and a selection of cards addressed to us as a couple. Then after our daughter was born, we included family photos and evidence of our joint responsibility for childcare. We had bank statements for each year from when we were living together until this year. We applied 3 Feb and were granted 2 May 2017. We scanned lots of individial annotated documents into one big PDF for financial evidence and uploaded just the one file. We did the same for the social evidence. We did 3 stat Dec's from friends who vouched for longevity of our relationship. Good luck! And don't hold back from asking other questions. This forum is a godsend for that!!
  17. Spot on - I don't think Australia are digging their own grave at all. They are just attempting to manage immigration more succinctly. They've already announced that there may be a new temp visa for specialised roles. Eg academics, health specialisms, etc. This will stop willy nilly immigration and allow for better control.
  18. Hi. We are staying in St Kilda initially. I love bayside but also love the hills!! Lots of research to do on arrival haha
  19. Ah okay, I thought you were offshore with your first application. I've known people that have waited 8+ months for the second half. And I'm not too au fait with how these are processed! Hopefully someone with experience may see this thread. Good luck tho!!!
  20. This is really hard to call, as everyone's application is unique and assessed on its own merits. Have you been asked for medicals etc? They've already extended processing times officially on Web. Many have gone thru recently around the 3 month mark. I have seen some wait 6 months tho.
  21. I was granted mine last week - there's a few of us having just been granted. What would you like to know?
  22. That is sooooo true about the big dollop of selfishness. Sometimes you have to put your own wee family first. Doesn't make it easier, but it really does allow you to shift some guilt!!!
  23. Welcome to the queue!! Yep they seem to be moving pretty swiftly thru some of them, that's for sure!!!
