  1. Hi ana, I know it might seem scary to move to a different environment. I went to australia when I was 16 with no family at all. Turn out to be just fine. Expect to get homesick, but after a while it will be fun instead, Hope you will have a wonderful experience ahead. Regs
  2. Hi, 190 is state sponsored. While 189 is independent GSM. from dibp site, the time processing for 190 is supposedly faster. But based on the forum experience, 189 is not too bad ... The immi published processing time is 6 mth for 190 and 12 mth for 189. But i believe mostly come quicker than that. Hope it helps
  3. Hi, Skill assessment is one thing, but i think there are point sawarded for qualification level as well (bachelor, diploma, etc) so i guess that would need some documentation to prove that.
  4. Hi, You can check the following links for your question. And on when you can do your pcc and meds. Some prefer to wait for co to ask them, some do it before in the hope of speeding things up. But better check the links to decide yourself. Hope it helps https://www.immi.gov.au/about/charters/client-services-charter/visas/8.0.htm http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/estimated-allocation-times.htm
  5. Hi expat, What I know is also based on the experience from other forum members, not my own since i dont claim any pts for work exp. From what i read, DIBP wants to ensure that the employment is skilled and paid employment So that means salary slip or tax pmt or bank transfer may be requested to prove it. I guess its better to be prepared. Hope it helps
  6. For the photo I just upload a digital photo for me and each of my boys. I dont think you need to send by post. But others may give further insight.
  7. Hi, You can go to this website (if you're applying for independent GSM) http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/189.aspx and download the booklet. In my case, only employment undertaken AFTER the completion of necessary qualification can be considered as skilled employment. Hope it helps
  8. Oh, I misunderstood your question. I thought it was for applying to 489. Labourvellec is correct. If you currently already have 489, not mandatory to work in the same occupation.
  9. Hi, You need to check on each state. Most state require relevant working experience. And some state has special condition for international student who complete their study in their particular state.
  10. Hi, I assume your 55 pints exclude the points gained from state sponsorship ? (ie 5 pts for 190 and 10pts for 489?). If yes, then you can submit eoi because your total point will be 60 (for 190) and 65(for 489). The 60 points required by dibp includes the points given by state sponsorship. Dibp sol and state sol can be different, so what you need to ensure is that your occupation is in the list of your preferred state. After you submit the eoi, you will receive an invite when one of the states agree to nominate you. But
  11. Suggest you do your skill assessment just before you want to start eoi. Skill assessment Requirements may change and you may need to redo the assessment. Why wait?
  12. Hi, For the aussie bit, you can check this website. I think you can apply thru online. Hope it helps... http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks.aspx
  13. Alternatively you may want to check for the opportunity for state sponsored visa (190, 489). Once you are sponsored, the invitation will not be long.
  14. Hi there, I've never read about health check deadline. But you can check the following link and read the section at the bottom. It basically suggest when you can do meds for 189 visa (which is priority 4). http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/estimated-allocation-times.htm God bless
  15. Hi, With EOI, you can choose more than 1 visa type. So you can try to apply for 190 state sponsorship while keeping 489 fs for your eoi.
  16. Based on the immi website, the timeline is around 6 months. But based on the forum, some get it in 2-3 mth. It depends on each case I guess (health, hr or lr country), checks required.

    Visa Invite!!!

Hi all, I submitted my 489 visa on 10th jan. Did my medical yesterday, and today i found the following on my online apps No health examinations are required for this person for this visa subclass based on the information provided to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Does it mean that my medical is cleared? Anyone else experience the same??
  18. Hi, Assessing authority is the same regardless of the state you are applying to. But you can check the following link http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/sol/the And then download the sol and you can see the assesing authority next to the occ code And then download the skilled occupation list. You can find the assessing authority next to it
  19. That is odd... Normally state sponsored 489 is relatively faster. Have you tried to call dibp?
  20. The material supplied is enough to pass tge exam. As long as you study properly it wont be a problem. I completed 4 foundation subjects in 1 semester. No prob.

    Over 50

Hi, Yes if you are aiming for skilled migration, age can be a problem. But you may look at other visa options (investor or business perhaps)? Who knows you might find something.
  22. Hi, You can check this immi link for reference http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/189.aspx They have the information on 189 invitation expiry date.
  23. When you are invited, they will show you how long the invitation will last. From what I know you only have 60 days to apply. So you definitely have to retry.
  24. You need to check with the skill assessment body about the fee. Some is inclusive, some is an extra fee (depending on occupation code). Basically skill assessment is the main thing. But sometimes CO MAY ask for advice on working experience. This is not always the case, but again, since I am quite risk averse on this migration issue, so I play it safe. But it's your call.
  25. Hi, In calculating work experience points, ensure that it's undertaken after you complete your degree that is deemed comparable to aussie degree. That's why you first critical point is getting you skill assessment. If the deem your degree to be comparable, then ur working experience can be considered. I think either salary slip or tax proof is acceptable, plus reference letter from your company. Normally the skill assessing body also provide service or advice regarding your working experience. Its safer to use their points instead of assuming yourself that your working experience is
