1. Yes and schools also do second hands uniforms for a lot less. I can buy blue shirts and shorts from M&S for my youngest but only white shirt for my eldest. He wears khaki trousers/ shorts and the pe uniform is school specific. But they tend to alternate days wearing them (1 day pie next day normal uniform) and one set does with drying over night always possible here.

3. You can buy 100 paracetamol still here for a few dollars, same with ibuprofen. We took six months of ADHD meds and Epipens so we didn't have a delay here waiting to see a new paediatrician etc. we also took 3-4 months of any other prescribed meds on the advice of our UK GP. They do tampax here but not lilets, and no tampons sized over a super. All the rest is similar/same. You do adjust to it all
4. Congrats devilbunty2k! I was was advised by my sponsor to front load meds and police checks with my application. I had to repeat my med though because the year was past, but as a nurse my med was exactly the same as a PR med. shame about the time scales. Has anyone else been advised to do this?
5. Been there Leah, and so glad that my eldest is 15. Fingers crossed for you. Application asks for everything, but I only produced birth cert and passport, as well as age appropriate medical.

7. I found that there was always a delay at customs, sometimes with it taking as long as the rest of the shipping time.
8. I too have a large A4folder and kept all my birth/marriage/uni/nursing/school certs in it. I needed immunisation status so kept copies of titres etc I would recommend keeping a few docs in a box with family or friends, we had our laptop and passports stolen 6weeks after we moved and was glad that my brother in law could access older passports to facilitate replacement of ours. He was also able to scan and send our old passport when DIAC asked for previous passport details. I also used used UK bank statements as part of proof of our married status, along with mortgage statements and rates bills. I think it depends on your circumstances. We came on a 457 knowing we would be doing an onshore PR so needed all this.
9. Hubby and his four brothers went to boarding school, in Rep of Ireland, he loved it. He made a lot of friends, ate well, played a lot of sport and did well at school. His parents worked long hours so it was a good option. He would love to send our boys to boarding school, but our eldest 15 will not entertain it. I would hate them being away, but a lot of kids here in rural NSW go to boarding school.
10. i have been able to get both my boys their HepB, the cost depends on yours/DRs circumstances. You can ask the cost and see. This year NSW is giving hep B to year 7 but not next year! I believe strongly in immunisation and am happy to pay the money, they are both sporty kids so it helps. it didn't affect their schooling at all, they were 8 & 15 so no financial benefits for us apply. In Australia all immunisation is optional but given the proximity to Asia, and situations like the recent measles outbreaks (infected teenager going to Dreamworld!) I wouldn't like them not to have MMR.
11. What is worse? My employer's department who do the lodging of the nomination told me to go ahead and apply for the visa, gave me the trn number and RCB cert ticked that it was lodged but they hadn't actually lodged the visa so my application was invalid and I have to wait on the refund to relodge our application.
12. Lodged our 187 today after getting the RCB result back yesterday. The fees have increased again, $7040 for 2kids and their parents lol, worth it I know but was surprised after the July increases!

18. I arrived in Sydney on a monday am. I went to their office after a trip to the bank to get a statement with address on it and produced passport with visa and date of arrival stamped, a copy of my tenancy agreement for my new home in nsw, my letter from aphra and that was all photocopied and forwarded to Darwin where I had applied. It took 10 working days for it all to go through and my number to be issued.
19.

Thank you!!!

20. i am told by another member who rented a one bedroom in Cronulla that there are a lot more choice (cheaper and better) when you get out to Oz. i am in rural NSW and contacted the estate agents directly to ask what was available. They sent me a list, unless you have someone to view you will need to be there in person to get accommodation though. good luck!
21.

Yes we are in Moree, we move into our house tomorrow. Furniture is being delivered tomorrow too! How are you, as hot as here? 34 degrees today. <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

22. LOL my sister who was a lawyer, now civil servant says I (nurse) am a psychopath........figures
23. Good Luck familybonesinoz. I hope you and your family have a good life in Oz.
24. Hi I had to ask for a syllabus transcript, and it costs £60 to £120 going by what the other nurses have said on here. It is 60 pages so I cannot send you a copy. It comprises the academic transcript with marks and modules and copies of each of the modules details (hours/content/assessment/exam etc) the same information available if you were choosing a module. The university Academic office did this with a cover letter and they seemed to have done this LOADS of time for others so I am surprised that the uni didn't know, perhaps if you ask to speak to the academic officer rather than someone in nursing? Good luck.
25. Isn't NTSC/PAL referring to DVD formats rather than TVs parleycross? One of my portable tvs asked me which country I wanted to set the TV too and as it was in Alphabetical order I was delighted to see Australia as an option before I found UK.
