  1. Basically, a LOT of meds get referred. Even A grade ones. If your BMI is over 30, it gets referred; mine was way over 30. I also had some self-harm scars. The doctor said I had no other problems but she did have to note it on the paperwork, that my BMI was over, and my self-harm scars. That was it. My CO said that unless I have a health problem I know of that will cost a lot of money to test, I can still fly out on the 1st to wait for my grant. She said if I have to do any tests, I can do them in Aus. I really doubt I will have to do tests, as I said, no health problems, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't take any medication, etc., and my chest x-ray and blood test and urine test came back fine. But, because it's been referred, it will likely hold up my grant, as the DIAC do ALL medicals and a lot of them get referred, my CO told me it could take up to four months because of the work load. Obviously they don't all take that long and I hope mine doesn't, but if it does, it will still be in the 9 month bracket. I'm not worried, but I would just keep in mind that a lot of them get referred (apparently). I would also really keep into contact with your CO; I would have no idea my meds had been referred unless I had asked her each week whether she had them. I would be merrily unaware and would get to Australia, find out, and cack myself. Now at least I know and can go to Aus and not worry about it.
  2. Unfortunately my meds have been referred so I can't see my grant arriving before I leave!
  3. You don't, unless your panel doctor tells you. I'm assuming.
  4. I have no idea. It can take up to four months.
  5. I think I did, my husband's birth certificate which showed he was born in Scotland, it was the only thing requested.
  6. This thread is fantastic, likewise we arrive in a couple of weeks and this thread has been priceless!
  7. I think only you will know. If he's still fit and healthy, why not? My bitch flies on the 24th, and she's only four but she's crate-trained and it's only a 23 hour flight so less than mine. That was a comfort for me.
  8. I have an Aussie twang sometimes because my hubby is Aussie, people do point it out but it's very subtle. I get the feeling I will pick up the accent quickly, but not the words. Dollar...weird.
  9. I wouldn't think you'll have any problems. As long as she can be sponsor and you have the relevant evidence (de-facto visas call for twelve months living together, I believe) I can't see why not. Have a read of this. www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1127.pdf
  10. www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1127.pdf Read this, over and over and over again. It lists all the evidence you need, and you only need a few samples of each catagory. I submitted with only things like a joint bank account, a few statements showing transfers between our accounts, and post addressed to both of us. Plus other stuff like travel documents from travelling together, train tickets, etc. etc. I would add that your dog must be vaccinated by a government approved vet, I'd get a quote from Pet Air too as they have been beyond helpful with shipping my dog over with me next month. I'd also just recheck your forms, as they can change and you don't want to send out-dated ones. Plus, make sure all your Australian stat decs are no longer than six weeks old. Other than that, don't staple or clip together anything when you submit, just bung it all in!
  11. I'm doing it too hun, I can't learn here so hubby's dad is going to teach me over there. I realise there are restrictions but they're ones I can live with (don't drink, don't have friends, etc.).
  12. News on the grapevine is that it will take at least another seven months...
  13. They do refer A grade medicals; a member on here recently went for hers and I hope she doesn't mind my saying that she was A grade and still referred. Most of them are, and they're not processed quicker I think because the DIAC have a huge load of work right now. I was referred too, but my case officer tells me it's common and shouldn't delay the visa.
  14. Oooh I can't wait! Meanwhile, I'll just stick to my lowly lowly chocolate...happily.
  15. Some of us have tried chocolate of cocoa solids from 70% to 85% and simply prefer milk chocolate. I'm not sure how long I should eat chocolate I don't like in the aims of bettering my tastes...?
  16. I can't express this enough. Work to the 9 month timeline, and just hope for sooner, but don't expect it. There is literally NOTHING ELSE YOU CAN DO.
  17. It's a huge sigh of relief! It feels like since we started this whole process it's been a long line of things to tick off, and I couldn't feel excited because there was so much to DO! Now we're flying next month and the only thing I've been worried about has passed. We're finally nearing the last hurdle of sending her off before us. Needless to say she is totally oblivious.
  18. SO relieved! Maisy, my little dog, had her last blood test at the beginning of the month and just had news back that they're all clear, so she's good to fly! Just our final check up left to go now on the 21st and then she flies on the 24th! Not long now, my little bearded friend...
  19. I'm bringing across some Kinder chocolate and a bar of Cadbury. Not really because I'll miss it but because it's familiar.
  20. Ugh that sounds awful. My jetlag consists of going to bed at 8pm and waking up at 6am! Terrible I know but I never felt sick or anything like that. I think it might be harder for you because you don't have friends there, for me we did a lot of stuff during the day so even if I felt tired I couldn't remember it.

I definitely know where you're coming from about the little bickers GG, my mum and I have had moments like that and it never lasts, but she would never talk to me like I've been spoken to last night. Believe it or not I am the middle one, I'm 22! I have decided to just shun all negativity!

I would totally understand if they were upset because I'm leaving, but they're not, they have not once wanted to come out with me or asked what I'm doing, and when I did offer a day out with just us, one of them refuses! Total toys out of the pram scenario. If my mum didn't have to live with the tantrums I would do exactly as you suggest, sadly I can't as I don't want to leave the country with my mum sorting that lot out.
  23. Don't worry BritChix, it took us FAR longer than we thought it would to save up and put the application together, but when it's in it's a huge relief! I haven't been in Aus for two years but go next month!
