  1. If you pack it yourself it won't be covered by the insurance, if you take theirs out, if you go with third party insurance then any breakables (eg china/glass/etc) won't be covered - and from my quotes we didn't get any reduction in quote for them not packing for us anyway. i do find this not correct....as this could be referred to the office of fair trading as anti competitive, and thus against the law. ( your local office of fair trading would be very interested in such practices) Please make sure when speaking to shippers ask them to explain this, and to follow it up in writing why they are saying this......... i have shipped a few containers in my time, and have used various maritime insurers and brokers independant. i do recall some previous thread saying thay you will be laible for salvage if the boat goes down......this again is not correct, and it's part of the insurance you can get independant for recovery and salvage in such an event of the boat ummm sinkiing
  2. if you are definate about a 457 you will not need ielts as you will not need to ask ANMAC to assess you. In my experience I'd advise getting on with your ahpra application. You'll have a year from the letter of eligibility to present at an ahpra office in oz. Most prospective employers will take you a lot more seriously if you have the eligibility letter under your belt.
  3. Knew that ahpra could be awful so hence the early app. Planning on starting job search march/april (by which time I assumed I could go to them with reg. in hand!!!) as I will be looking for a rsms. QLd health are first choice although starting to hear some scary posts of less sponsorship due to all the political stuff going on. We are hoping to emigrate any time from sept/oct. Need to have major surgery in the next couple of months so will have to be recovered before medicals!Just tell me the visa process isn't as frustrating as ahpra ... pleease?
  4. very lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I give you my details will you phone brisbane for me? :rolleyes:They've had my app since september '11. I've had 2 emails so far asking for more info. Both times I phoned them to say that they all ready had what they were asking for, they conceded that yes they did! Now its all gone quiet. Apparently when they get your app someone scans all the paperwork onto the computer. Turns out the person who scanned mine didn't know how to scan any other size than A4 so left those documents in the file that was then archived!!!!!! OMG!
  5. Do you reckon we could get the hepB vax done here? Take it you have to pay for them in OZ. My health visitor has already offered to do any jabs that OZ need.
  6. could you have a word with him and ask if he could keep it going until we are ready? 2014ish????
  7. copied this off the website: You or your child go abroadIf you, or your child, move abroad, the account will remain open. Anyone can still add money to the account, even from abroad. Check with the account provider how you can do this. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/ChildBenefitandChildTrustFund/ChildTrustFund/WhentheChildTrustFundisupandrunning/DG_193638
  8. Yes. But I don't have enough points. Also the wait for a 176 is over a year whilst a RSMS is priority one and still gives you PR. Also have to figure in changes afoot for July i.e. skillselect. RSMS is exempt from that.
  9. Not what I want to hear but thank you for the post. I've been keeping abrest of all the problems with qld health and the subsequent decision to disband it. Kinda hoped that with the new hospital coming to the sunny coast around 2016 that they would still prioritise recruitment of health staff. Like I said in an earlier post, down to me to sell myself and maybe accept that I'll have to be a little more remote than I'd already resigned myself to. Can't do any of that though until the lovely lady at ahpra gets off her behind and deals with the application she admits has been on her desk since last september!!!!!!!! ' Nothing worth having is easy.... nothing worth having is easy.... nothing worth having is easy.....
  10. when I get emotional about leaving family, I tell myself that I'm going on a long (long) holiday.... and not a permanent, forever exit. I also promise myself that I will work my butt off to ensure we have an emergency flight fund. How would you feel if you stayed behind for your friends and family only for one of them to say in the future that you'd made them evaluate thier own lives and they have decided to emigrate!... but for you the opportunity is lost? Stay loyal to your dreams....
  11. personally i agree with others, bankers have and are hurting too many families.....if you got the opportunity of a new live in auz....as fabricator says BAIL-FLY-and don't look back.....stop paying the mortgage now, as it means nothing to keep paying it, and put it in the auz fund to pay the deposit and few months rent when you land...the mortgage company will sell it off for peanuts, and ask you to pay the difference...if bankrupt it has no bearing if your 3k in debt or 300k..... remember you have tried to be honourable and worked hard, but health, family and well being is important......don't have any regrets with bricks and mortar.... put it this way...you might land in auz, and the next day win the lotto there....would you send your old mortgage compaany in the uk money to pay off that debt, or buy something you've dreamt of in auz.....BAIL-FLY-LOOK FORWARD
  12. Can't blame them for being cautious especially if they've been stung. Guess its down to me to convince them of my integrity and determination to settle in qld. Don't want the bright lights of Brisbane or the Gold Coast, want space and tranquility. Hoping that will work in my favour as well. Final thought... what will be will be, if its meant to happen.. it will.
  13. Cheers. Did they sponsor you or are you independant?
  14. Hi Guys Read on a couple of other threads that qld health are not sponsoring at the moment. Is it true? Anyone got inside information? Really, really hope its not true... was going to apply to them as soon as ahpra come through.:frown:
  15. We went into STA and TRailfinders to get flight quotes to compare to our own online searches, started to de-clutter by donating outdoor toys to local nursery and am currently on here as I have to stay up for another hour and a half in order to phone AHPRA! Also decided today to get john mason and crowne in next week to give us quotes. Also have put a massive wall planner up in the kitchen to start organising everything that we have to do into sizeable weekly/monthly tasks because when I really think about what we need to do my brain begins to fry.....!
  16. As the op is not the main visa applicant she will not need to be assessed by ANMAC, just AHPRA. Also, AHPRA do not need you to sit IELTS if you can prove that you were educated and nurse trained in english.
  17. Submitted in sept 2011! Not all visas are affected in the July changes, RSMS for example is unaffected. Check out DIAC. Not got a job offer. Will start looking once got ahpra under my belt.
  18. check out qld health for jobs. http://www.health.qld.gov.au/nursing/default.asp They sponsor both on a 457 and a 119. Get a better relocation package if deal directly with an employer and not an agency. You can either apply for an advertised job or submit an expression of interest to qld health. If you are serious about rural check out what they offer to someone prepared to work off the beaten track! What's your speciality? Also, Ramsay Health are building a new hospital on the sunshine coast next year and are inviting interested parties. http://www.ramsayhealth.com/ We are planning on moving to the sunshine coast at the end of this year. Waiting for AHPRA to grace me with some form of communication and will then put in an expression of interest to qld health. Most employers prefer (and take you more seriously) if you have or are in the process of registration. Definitely hold out for a PR. Good luck and keep us posted.
  19. Hiya Great to see things are moving for you. I'm still waiting on ahpra surprise surprise! Good luck with meds.
  20. Hi Think you have to give an address. Or if you are in temp. accomodation they will accept your employers details. You may have to accept to lose the window (and your $450) and go through the process all over again when your ready. Sorry.
  21. Look again on their website. There is a link to the format of the CV.
  22. thanks iron chef.......as always a source of vast information.........now just to add a further question, can wifey and i bring separate cars, saab for her, Citreon C6 for me.... as said will be on a regional migration visa... thanks Pete
