  1. From what I've read on other posts each ahpra office seems to have their own idea of how to interpret the application form! I did mine with Brisbane. Took 4 months of phonecalls and emails. Its worth staying up late and phoning. Add up the amount of pages you sent with the application and ask them to tell you how many pages they have in their system.... Brisbane said that one of my documents was insufficient... I argued that the info they wanted was clearly on the document... after much debate it transpired that when they received my documents they scanned them all into their computer system.... but not the A3 sized documents as the person did not know how to do them so she simply omitted them and archived them!!!!!!!.... Don't give up. Persevere. Good luck.
  2. Hi Your wife is free to work where and for who she pleases. Getting cover for things that aren't covered by medicare such as ambulances and dental, is down to personal preference. We have 2 young children so getting dental cover makes sense. Plus I'm a beleiver in 'sod's law' - if I haven't got it I'll need it and vice versa...
  3. HI we leave wet and windy wales in 9 days time heading for Kuluin or very close by ....we have the 1st couple of weeks in beach tower 4558......but have nothing after that...can any one help with or heads up or info ( other than realestate.com.au)on house to rent 3 bed, close to Kuluin school ( have two girls aged 4&6).....starting to feel a bit under pressure with container arrving 17th Novemeber and no where to put it... :arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh: thanks ann and pete
  4. it would be door to port (airport/sea port) or door to door...or door to depot, or even depot to depot ....you can say which....suggest you practic fitting things into a box 450mm by 510mm so you can then order what is called a tea chest ( cardboad now not ply anymore) then look at web sites which ship door to door and at least you know the size....and max weight per box should be around 20kg for Health and safety rules ( yes no longer are there strapping men to lift boxes - its all roborts) look at getting quotes 12 weeks prior - if shipping by sea 3 weeks prior - if shipping by air
  5. ok so we are 4 days behind you...fly out LHR to BNE on 31st oct....just afew days left to buy up those end of season bargains in shorts/t-shirts/ and sun tan creams !!!!!!
  6. The beautiful Brecon Beacons. Very windy here today.
  7. I finish work this week.. can't wait.. boss being really spiteful. We fly in 14 days! Concentrating on the finer details now like getting my nails done before we go etc..! Good luck.
  8. I had my 457 granted in Sept. this year. Colour scanned all my documents for submission online. Didn't get any of them certified. All accepted. Good luck.
  9. What does your birth certificate show? what do other forms of identity show such as driving license? Is the passport entry an error? Would think that birth certificate and passport details should match unless you have a marriage certificate or deed poll name change certificate to explain a difference. DIAC form filling is mind numbing as it is without having different names on documents! You should make sure your name appears the same on all major documents.... it'll protect your sanity in the long term. Good luck.
  10. This is a lovely thread... keep the stories coming please. We are on the edge in every possible way.... physically, financially and mentally because we are on the edge of joining you..... container left last week, finish work next week and fly on the 31st!... not much time to sit and reflect and even less to sit and daydream... so thanks guys this has been a lovely read..
  11. we're 21 days behind you.......few boxes left which did not get into the container, and now today got permit to ship car ( YIIIIIPPPPPEEEE) so just got to sell more and more stuff on ebay for next 10 days........then we do the other way...out on 31st on to HK, then brizzy for the 5th, then hire car up to Kuluin....see you for coffee ???? - can you gives the heads up for rental's - 3 bed around 400pw around 4558 please have a safe trip......and see you "the other side"
  12. Thats strange, i got that also, so we must be related......and I thought i was from a small village, an only child and a mother called Mervanwe !!!!!!
  13. Thank you everyone, some great tips on areas and getting around. Thanks for the needitnow link Michelle, we've found a 4* hotel in the CBD offering a bed and breakfast package for $239. Best price we could find and boy have we researched all around Brisbane!! Sincerely hope looking for a house rental isn't as hard!
  14. Got to get back to airport to pick up hire car (long story). Hoping/assuming that there will be plenty of reasonably priced shuttle services or public transport options in the morning! Also got to get to CBD for an appointment in the morning. Got to then drive up to Sunshine Coast.
  15. Employer is providing transport from airport to hotel thankfully! But not going as far as to offer to pay for a hotel!
  16. :arghh:HI all we have been searching and searching to the point of arguements. we arrive on 4th nov at 11.30 ( guess get throught to lobby area around 12.30-1am) and with two young ones ( 4+6) we are trying to find a family room with breakfast which does not cost the earth ( everything is over $200 just for the room) - any one can help plllllease. we have rejected the formula one/ibris....novetel would be great but hey ho a bit over priced for what will be a quick sleep and then out again. is this the going rate for brisbane hotels or are we missing something :arghh::arghh:
  17. well shippers are in 8.30 hrs time ....and i have to wait for the tools out of the dish washer, then put some walking costs in the washer, and all to dry by morning .....ohh to have nothing to take.......please if only.... see how are posts go tomorrow when the shippers say we have too much for the container.....thats our worry to sleep on.... as it was said, time flies by, start preparing your paper work, change of addresses, open a bank account, if your taking a car, then get the permit process under way.....we have still not got permission from canberra, and looks like our furniture will arrive before our car.....and before you ask, it was too expensive to put it in one container....
  18. our advice is to start de cluttering and doing charity shop run and tip now.......we have 30 days to go, and bouy oh bouy are we shattered...shippers coming in two days time, and we have not cleaned the garage stuff or bikes or trampolin, and the amount we could have put on ebay and made a few quid.....sad, tired bu its like an avalanche..we have to get on with it or sink...... so advice from a 30 day and counting.............START NOW, DECLUTTER /EBAY !!!!!!!!!!!
  19. You must work full time. You can only work for the sponsoring employer. Not sure about the freelance thing.
  20. Was there supposed to be a link on this post?
  21. Rental is in Maroochydore. But need to be in Brisbane the following morning to validate my nursing registration at the Brissy office. Hence the overnight stay.
  22. 4 children!:notworthy: If they need 3 seperate shots of Hep B (they've both had chicken pox so no need for varicella) should I wait and get all three done by the same clinic in oz rather than getting our gp here to give first? Would make more sense. But would they have to have the first dose before they can start school? Hoping my 6 year old can tag onto the end of term. We arrive on 5th Nov.
  23. I knew somebody lovely would give me the answer. I love PIO! Thank you..
  24. Hire car is being paid for by employer. Novotel mega expensive. £187 as opposed to £95 for Ibis. Really want one in the middle of these two. Think we'll have to take a deep breath and go with the Ibis... reviews on it are bad though..... Hoped that there was a 'premier inn' type option. Comparing to the UK already and I haven't even arrived yet!!!
