  1. Hi Kate, yes we managed to get somewhere on the day we moved out of the short term ( 2 weeks) my wife's employer paid for...we are in Kuluin, and its best of all worlds,, when school starts on 29th jan, i will walk both girls to school, and ann can still walk to work, or though its a bit hot and hummid so she takes the car.......we have all we need on the door step, two routes for the bus in and out of sunshine area, fire/ambulance station at end of road, shops either end, open from 6am to 8pm....a chines/thai/pizza and fish and chips ( if you care for that stuff, but they all close around 8pm)..... playing areas galore for the kids, within in a 200mtr walk there are 3. so yes its great. I think there is a good bargain around the corner - on realestate.com.au in 20 timbertop st buderim - but really its kuluin, and walking to all places, lake some 300mtrs over the road, pool and 4 beds pm if you want to meet up

  5. Ours was sole use 20ft, mid wales to brisbane, went on 4th october 2012, and we got our goods friday 7th december, and i was present when aqis inspected, see my other comments about ask shippers how much is aquis fee other side, as they are fixed by aquis, but shippers this side load the price to cover handling of your goods, but hey thats what you have paid your uk agent already - hence in ours and alot of others cases you get double charged for what they say all handling fees included....please get it in email or written as verbal never helps when they want 520 dollars off you for 40 dollar aquis fee regards
  6. Please make sure you ask robinsons to say if the fee includes AQUIS quarantine fees as the auz govenrment on charge 40 dollars for a 20ft container, but robinsons ( partners in auz) add a further 480 dollars for handling.....which they do not tell you, and this is a fixed fee the auz part have agreed with uk part - so uk part can not say they do not know a figure.........so please get it in writing via email, so you can have it to refer to when they add a 520 dollar quarantine processing fee, to which it is only 40 dollars they are charged. regards
  7. what a muppet..........we arrived early nov, and yes some 9 weeks later its still hard, and no routine for the kids means no free time to take stock. we researched until the computer was overheating, and still it DOES NOT PREPARE YOU, even though we have lived overseas before for years at a time, it is hard. what does make things harder is the type of reply from some on this web site whom just intent on winding others up, and sit on their back sides making opinions which are dribble, lack knowledge, and to be frank, shows how shallow the person(s) are
  8. we shipped 4 boxes via a web site very well know which i would not recommend as our boxes were all damaged, and all in all it cost £455.00 plus aqis clearance fee of 165 dollars so yours for 12-15 boxes is good value
  9. I agree if this was not stated, but on our contract and they say it is a standard contract - all clearance and handling goods, in Uk, and in your destination, including custom clearance, but not government quarantine fees. Thus we paid in the uk to cover ALL handling fee's - not for some untrained person(s) to think that an ironing board needs to go through quarantine or 3/4 of the container - to which it only is a 40 dollar fee, and not any other handling fees to which it has stated was already paid.
  10. its worth bringing the original copy of the no claims discount, and take copies, and also scan a copy and store on your email address, so when doing call around/email quotes it will help
  11. have you got a customs and aquis/quarantine agent handling its clearance, and if so are they on the bill of laden, as clearance has to come from them, and normally a depot is advised where the container will be taken off the wharf and awaits quarantine inspection. normally the container is hired, so they ( the depot would want it off hire asap, and then quarantine inspect it, and then after any duty or inspection fees are paid, then the goods can be made available for collection, and then maybe hire a van to collect from that location. Many times the depot/custom clearance agents have delivery contractors, so they might work out alot better for hassle/ and work out similar cost at the end of the day
  12. as i have said in previous quotes, just make sure you ask then about the partners they have in auz,and how much do they charge for quarantine - as the aquis web site states on 40 dollars to check a container, but the partners this end from various shippers charge fro 400 dollar to 650 dollars for something that is on charged to them 40 dollars, and the uk side know that its a fix charge, so it should be included as handling your goods.....if they are vague, about the amount - then get it in writing why the difference and then make a commercial decision - we did not use crown, but they include the quarantine fee - other than goods which need to be treated/disposed....so they are one fee, so others try to say they are cheaper, but adding the auz partner fee, they end up more expensive as it was in our case, and still we are missing 10 boxes !! regards
  13. HI we are in buderim, moved over here from wales Uk, in November this year.....have you got jobs to go to, - if so consider what commute would be acceptable to and from work. Areas you mentioned are great, Alex headlands, is great - as beach on your door step, and cafe's abundant, public transpoirt is also good. look for translink web site/sunshine council web site. so far all good hear, and weather well brillant...just stock up on factor 50 sun screen if you can and calpol regards ann and pete/lizzie/ellie
  14. Hi - its the luck of the draw if they put your boxes into quarantine.....and yes your about right with 320-460 auz dollars for this. As I said all our boxes were opened and inspected, if you plan it will happen and it does not, then hey have a nice meal or a treat with the money you have saved. If quarantine happens then hey like us you have to accept it and get on with life ( just with a bitter after taste)
  15. we used a company which is an animal and has a bushy tail, and i stood there while over 3/4 of our container was prepared for aquis, including metal ironing boards, and every thing which said wood on it............aquis then visited some 4 days later ( to which i was there again), and they opended about 10% of the items prepared, including the ironing board !!!! - I agree throughout so many threads Crown seem to give a better service both on collection and upon arrival....and with all cost stated on a like for like - the same price if not cheaper
  16. HI you still going to get quarantine charges, and like both justin and i depends on the courier's auz partners how much they "add on under the heading of quarantine".......just ask whom is the partner this end, or is it the same company door to door - if it is then ask and get confirmation in writing that what are the "TOTAL quarantine charges", and if they say ohh umm its varied, then explain to them that the AQUIS web site says standard fees, so how can it be varied. re my damages, yes all was insured, but UK party say the damages was malicious damage and therefore not claimable, and Auz part say speak to uk part, and vice versa......so hey ho, decided to put in in uk small claims court with the uk side whom had contract....and we wait and see as I issued it in name of CEO and UK company ....he he he they have ruffled me, so i thought i would ruffle the CEO as well. hope you get to send things soon
  17. i guess the important thing is where will you both work, if its nursing, then which hospital or place will you be aiming for. We are in North Buderim, moved here from Wales 5 weeks ago, and yes it is great, and we are more than happy here, walk to school and work, and transport links are great, and family activity is good - shops ( yeap have to say impressed, as well as cafe cultue). Alex headland is great, walk out at 530am and loads of people out surfing, power walking, cycling, and even with kids dressed for school helping parents with press ups etc.... if its the beach/cafe/shops/family life is Alex headlands......Buderim school, watch the waiting list, and the traffic on school run is hectic...Kuluin, where our two are is great...and no catchment area for this one, so you can live in alex headland, and travel if you ok with it ( 10 mins)
  18. Hi just a heads up to make sure you ask how much is the charge for quarantine the other end. Quarantine have a set fee the other end I was $40 dollars for a 20ft container, but the auz partners charged $520 for this charge and refused to break down invoice. We quizzed them more and they admitted that the uk end know about the standard $520 charge, as it covers their handling fees, although UK agent said all fees included apart from quarantine fee. SO when your get like for like quotes, make sure the actual cost of quarantine is as per the government web site, ( AQUIS) and if you find the sales person says around 400 to 500 dollars ask why the difference. I have spoken to others and crown include the fee in the price, but appear more expensive, but in fact are cheaper when you compare the added sting from the auz partner hidden as a "quarantine process fee".
  19. HI - just to give you heads up, that make sure you speak and get confirmation in writing that the quarantine charge will be just the quarantine charge the local dept charge and not a way for the uk end not to disclose how much extra the auz partners add to your bill. The charge for AQUIS for our 20ft container was $40.00 but the auz partner charged $520.00, saying the fees are clearly told and agreed by the UK agent as "fee to handle the process".....so please for yours and others question do they have an agreed quarantine figure which the auz end charge - if so how much. Quarantine took 20 min to check ours and 2 other containers, so for a loading of $480.00 which you have already paid is not a nice intro to being Ripped off pm if you need any guidance
  20. try click energy - they are like a comparison, but organise everything and handle the billing.....so far cheaper than what our agents said was good by 30%, and no tie in
  21. add us to the list, we are north buderim, moved here 3 weeks ago, rentals are ok, just got to get to be softly softly with agents, but yeap nice place, and plenty going on for families...ours are 4 and 6 ( going on 16)...drop us a pm, will meet up pete/ann/lizzie/ellie
  22. We arrived on the Sunshine Coast 3 weeks ago (from the UK) Our daughter turned 4 in august this year. We have just applied for 'early entry' into prep. here in Qld. We have the full backing of the teachers at the school we have chosen. Full time kindy for her would be more than our house rental a week! Also, in Wales she had been at school full time for a year.
  23. count us in, in north buderim, 4556 just green off the plane ( arrived 5th november) waiting for settling in period ( new few weeks ) and then add us to the social list two young girls 4&6, house husband ( if thats what burning the toast and not ironing clothes and forgetting buying milk and essentials is called) ,and darling wife out slogging her guts to support this great life style pete and ann
